    Excellent info, BT! I just built a 8 foot table that fits in a small bedroom and made it so I can take it down in case we need the room for guests. So glad you mentioned what to use under the layout, I have been trying to figure this out and I went through a bunch of trial and error testing for the right bounce. For 2 weeks and hundreds of times disassembling and reassembling to try different combinations of various materials, I ultimately ended up making one side 1 layer of felt and the other side 2 layers of flannel (I tried 2 layers of felt and I didn't like the bounce reaction it does when it digs in with the dice edges, it's a completely different reaction than the casino tables, though I did not test the 2 layers by stretching them out like you mentioned). I used an adhesive spray to hold the material down and only slightly stretched them tight to get all folds and kinks out to make it to lay flat.
    Since I wanted to make it able to tear down, instead of building a table with legs to hold everything, I bought a 8 foot costco folding table that can be used for other things or fit in a closet should I ever tear this down so that was a good buy now we always have a extra table. I didn't even make any cuts on anything other than the felt and flannel, have the wood pieces cut to size at the store.
    I used 1 x 12 x 8ft boards to frame the sides, no bother with having chip rack or a rail (I cut a swimming pool floaty noodle and slapped that over top to protect arm / wrist from the wood edge)

    Hi BT & all you table builders out there....just finished the game top on the table I'm building. Here is a couple of options I used for the bouncy side and the hard side you may want to consider. Bouncy side I used 2 lb. Polyethylene 48" + 84" + 1/8" from the Foam Factory about $35. They have a lot of choices and they will send you 2" samples free before purchase. In the Northwest most of the tables are really bouncy and this stuff works well. I believe if I can master this side of the table I'll be able to handle any table.
    Hard side...I was looking for a microfiber material and found it at the local Jo-Ann's Fabrics. Again 48" + 84" Suede with a Sherpa backing $31. I was looking for something that would give me the hard table characteristic and reduce the noise when the dice hit the table. I think I lucked out because this under laying works better than I could have hoped for.
    BT...thanks for the table building video, you made it an easy build.

    • @warbaby4514
      @warbaby4514 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Forgot to add....you'll need a very sharp scissors or shears to trim the Suede\Sherpa for a clean cut. Box cutter or sharp edge will pull and shed the Sherpa.

    BT, you know I appreciate all you do for all of us! My one question is in the sequence of building the table and securing it using screws. At what point is the best time to install the padding on the birch table top and then the microfiber table material? Also what is the best way to secure the padding and cover? With the long range plan of removing it and replacing it with a new cover when it starts to get worn. I will have to make myself a set of plans so I don't mess all of it up!

In a newer video he said a black wool layer, felt layer, and display cover for the hard surface, and black wool layer, 2 layers of felt, and display cover for a bouncy surface. In this video he left out the black wool and just used a layer of felt and the display for the hard surface, and 2 layers of felt and the display for the bouncy surface. BT, I built my table from an earlier video you put out. This video today goes into much better detail. It appears your earlier video was spot on with this one, actually. The main thing I always searched for was the dimensions on height and length and width. Also where to buy the table layout. You helped me immensely on your first video. Love it. Inexpensive and perfect "Regulation Table". Messing with Mark10. LOL. Seriously, it is all that I need to practice improving my game. I have both the hard end and bouncy end as you suggested. I practice everyday, intermittently. It is my passion to get better all the time. I am addicted to your videos. Is there a toll free number for help? Just kidding. Keep up the great work BT. By the way, that picture you see was my first generation table until I made one like yours. Much Much Better. Gotta Love It! Thanks!

      @@dbonnie24 actually, I followed Bone Throwers video on the dimensions for a 14ft table. But this is where I made my table very portable. I bought two sturdy white 6 foot fold out tables at Home Depot. You know the kind. With the height of the foldout tables and the plywood, it is just the right height. I bought two sheets of birch 3/4" plywood x 8 ft to lay on top, cut to accept the side rails and have the correct inside tub dimensions BT posted. I laid down black vinyl underlay, double for the bouncy end and single layer for the hard end and then my casino layout for craps sized for a 14 ft table. My rails set right on top of all of that. I just have my rails held in place with C-Clamps. 6 Clamps down each side and 2 Clamps on both ends, total 16 total. Nothing is screwed or glued on my table top layout. I screwed 4 alligators to my side rails like BT. I made my rails slightly taller that the height of the alligators. The weight of the rails and the C-Clamps holds the casino style craps layout cover in place perfectly. I love this set up. I owe it all the Bone Thrower. Reference BT videos for dimensions. Got the craps layout, alligators, vinyl from casino4u. Good Luck.

    I should have at least tried to video it, but last week I was at Sunset Station, and they took off the side rails, and exposed the table top in order to change the material on a table. It took no tools, just 2 dealers in the presence of the Box Man. It came off in one piece, and the layout material was over the edge, and stapled down with tension to keep it flat (Like stretching painting canvas, or upholstery). Many tables do, in fact, have some form of ridge, or edge in the middle, in order to interrupt attempts at 'sliding' (for those who don't know, sliding is an instant felony, and I know Vegas based sliders to took the team to Macau for a second visit, and did not get arrested, just instant back off at every table in town, making for a costly, short, frustrating trip).
    Marc, and all viewers, the only thing important is that the material the dice interact with is Casino material, and the height is correct for muscle memory, and lastly, you must have the diamond walls, rounded in the corner, all of which I see here.
    For those who visit, Spinettis (810 S. Commerce St., Las Vegas...make sure you are here, the other gambling supply store is across the street, and on Main, really visible. It just has had more owners than the years I have been in town, a real train wreck, don't bother going there.) has a former Casino table for sale for about $5k. I was just there, in the showroom about a month ago. They sell Diamond walls, $65 unit. Marcs' table takes 4. The table I was considering also needed 4.
    Also, not all the table layouts you will see are green, so if you get a good offer on yellow, blue, or red, feel free to grab it.
    Just so you all are not entirely in the dark, you hear Marc, and others say 'regulation' about a craps table and equipment. There is no 'regulation'. There are standard sizes, just no 'regulation'. Diamond walls, and dice both come in 2 different sizes, and can be used interchangeably.
    One of the house tricks you are not cognizant of, is the changing the dice trick. The different sizes are not immediately apparent, but it will change your throw. Just as when they maintain a table, the house may change diamond size in order to affect practiced, AP throwers like Marc.

    Your table is GREAT. I remember when u 1st built it. Your table has come a long way and has paid for its self-many times over. The ONLY thing wrong with your table is it had a KC Royals LOGO. LOL I live in Vegas. I see 12ft tables 1500-3500. You can order a 12ft table from a company in AZ, but shipping would cost a ton if you can't pick it up. I found a really cool regulation 6ft table for $200 at a sale. Wish i could attach a pic. It is good for practice stick lf, rt. I have it setup so i can practice the long throw also. I have a 30in small stand I can rest my hand on for throwing other spots. I do need to get a 12ft table as most casino's in vegas I play have 12ft 1's. They have some 16ft tables I stay away from. KEEP up the GREAT video's.

    Since birch plywood is so expensive, would a sheet or two of MDF work just as well? The reason I ask is because it seems like, and maybe I'm wrong, you're suggesting cabinet grade plywood because of it's smoothness. MDF is quite smooth and much less expensive.

    Hey BT, did you use 1/2" or 3/4" birch plywood? Also what is the distance from the end of the pass line to the diamond wall? Is it the same all the way around or are the ends further than the long sides of the table?

    • @bonethrower1957
      @bonethrower1957  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use three quarter inch as far as the pass line distance to the wall they're different in all the casinos average would be about 10 to 11 inches.

  • @richardbeau4584
    @richardbeau4584 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    How far away from the wall, on a 14 foot table, would you say is "Stick Right 1"?

    • @bonethrower1957
      @bonethrower1957  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one spot on a 14ft table is 9 to 9 1/2 ft from the wall.

    Hey BT, you mentioned that the end rail 2x6's are 44"s finished but the birch ply is 48"s wide. Does this mean you will have 2"s of the birch top hanging over each side rail?

    • @bonethrower1957

      Your side rails will sit over the 2in. Plus the 2x4 you nail on the sides.

    I heard you say we need to buy two sheets of 4x8 birch plywood. Is that because you laid 2 sheets, one on top of the other, to make the table surface? And if so are they both 3/4 inches thick? Thanks in advance.

    • @bonethrower1957
      @bonethrower1957  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You buy 2 pieces of plywood because the table is 14 ft. Long.

    Thanks, awesome table. What are the specs / measurements for the inner corners / curve (the hook) and how did you make the corner?

    • @LenInTheBuff
      @LenInTheBuff 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 12"'s but I took the long route and made Kerf (spl) cuts so I was able to wrap the board around the corner where I think BT's table the corners are square and he rounded the corners by cutting the curve into a board and placing them in the corners. If I had to do it over again I would not mess with Kerf cuts.

    • @UnknownScorpion
      @UnknownScorpion 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was hung up on what to do with the corners for quite a bit of my planning and couldn't move forward with buying anything till I figured it out cuz I was hung up on it being a big deal. I finally decided to give up trying to do anything with kerfs or making something for the corners. Just proceed to make your rectangle frame, when you put the diamond rubber backing in it automatically curves and makes the corner. You can somewhat adjust it by how much slack you push in the corner or how tight you pull it before you attach it. The void in the corner doesn't matter, you can leave it or figure something out with topping it once you get it set.
