I wish to thank you for taking a lost, little car that nobody wanted anymore; rescuing it; putting much love, sweat, and tears into this sweet, quiet car; giving it a home, and a new purpose in life. It shows just how creative, caring, and stylish you are for bringing this car back from the dead...so to speak. You've done an amazing job on this neat little car!! Keep it safe. All I'd like to do with this cute little car, is run up and give it a huge hug.....
Superb workmanship ..,It's nice to see they heater channel outlets not covered up with carpet always a sign of a quality restoration and one of the first things I look for. It's easy to see this was a labor of love for old Beetles : )
You did a great and responsible job with that car. Only change I would make is to raise the front and lower the back so they're even but that's just my preference. Love the last year of the original bug, 66, with metal sunroof and pop out side, air-conditioning, windows!
Wish I had another ... My first car was a 1966 Volkswagon 1300 cc with an Abersparker Gas heater ...6 volt ....Such a cool car This one is fab and done so nice
@aloano - I bought the interior from Wolfsburg West. I do not remember the price but you can go to their website and it lists all the pricing. Thanx for the comment, as of yesterday I got my 1915 motor installed. Hope to be able to drive it again any day now. Congratulations on your new bug, that is awesome and Java Green is a great color :-)
1:32 Make sure your boots have the seam at 3 O'clock facing the rear with sealant in the seam. There is no flex in the seam. VW owners manual. For your viewers. Great job!
Great Job- It is set up so nice. If you change the engine out -keep you old one and do not sell any org. parts. Hang on to everything. Having org.parts with your bug is like money in the bank- only better. I wish it was my bug. Great color
@lboftheyear - It took me about 20-months to do the entire restore. I did all the work myself. The pans were in good shape, had to replace the front driver pan quarter, but everything else was good. Just installed a 1915 motor and it runs great. Thanx.....
well done, the body seemed really solid.. wish i could find a car like that in Finland.. my 66` had some serious issues with rust and a lot of velding had to be done. anyway NICE!!
@mowie1236 It's called Fat Mat. It's a sound deadening material. Helps with road noise, engine noise and heat. I am glad I did it. I would do it again in a heart beat. Well worth it. Makes the doors sound solid when you close them.
Great Job- It is set up so nice. If you change the engine out -keep you old one and do not sell any org. parts. Hang on to everything. Having org.parts with your bug is like money in the bank- only better. I wish it was my bug.
Nice video! Great job man! I have one waiting to be restored... I don’t have much mechanical experience, thinking to do striping and then to give to proper mechanics to do body work and engine rebuilt, electric etc. Assembly do on my own to save some money for fuel ;) and have fun an my handwork on my lovely beetle.
@Thesuperdrummer93 - both wheels are set the same. the earlier pics are without the motor. The later pics are after the rear was lowered. There is a little camber in both wheels, the price you pay to lower a car. My car sets perfect for me and drives awesome. The new 1915 is a blast with plenty of power.
@woodweezel - Thanx. If everything goes well, I should be installing the 1915 this weekend. The existing motor will go into my 63'. The 63's motor is the original motor to the car with matching numbers. So this motor will be saved in case I ever sell the 63. Got the birth certificate for both my cars from Germany, and this confirmed the the motor number on the 63. My 66' is a great car and I really enjoy it. The color is Java Green and is the original color. Looking forward to the bigger motor
@FishSticksRGud - Wow, thanx man. Look forward to seeing some pics of your 66' I am working on my 63 now and trying to get my bad ass 1915 motor ready for my 66 for the spring.
I just worked with my "Mazda 323F" ("bg" body from 1991). Now I know - restoration is not so easy as it is on Discovery chanel ) But it is realy interesting. And you are right - if you just made one car, you will need and feeling to restore more cars!
@66GreenBug Think I will be getting a 67 this weekend. $1,400 and in 80% condition. Will be changing the paint and some other things. When I get it and go to work I may hit you up for tips. Esecially painting the interior.
I just bought a 66 and it looks just like your;'s did when ya started. I was wondering if you kept track of your time in the project and cost? because i am about to go thru this wow what a great job, i cant wait to start mine, that is unless there is something you know that could deter me.
1964 Cool. I also have a 63 that I'm working on, more for just a driver. Just so you know, my green 66' was the first time I have ever done anything like that before. I did the whole car myself. So if I can do it, I'm sure you can also :-)
@koolbossjock - Thanx, its a great car and a lot of fun, especially since I put in the new 1915 this year. The sound mat is by Fat Mat, kinda like Dynamat. Helps sound proof the car. Glad I did it.
@WernerRobin - Translation -- Very interesting is the photo at 9:24. It shows the successor model VW 1300 and 1500 (light blue). which was constructed on 01/08/1966. 1300 cc 40 hp, 1500 cc 44 hp. Note the rear bumper bar American. Since there were several variants namely!
@agaz00 - Thanx a lot..... It took me about 20-months from start to finish. The cost was somewhere between 10-14 thousand US. Definitely get that 66 and start working on it. Lets put another one back on the road :-)
I love the interior, did you buy it off a website, or was it a custom job? I got a 70 beetle with baby blue ext, wanna change the interior to something similar to yours, like the light colors! I might do white, but seems like some companies only do off-white. What color is your back seat and door panels??
one of the best restorations ive seen! great job! how long did it take and an aproximate cost? my aunt has a beetle sitting on their yard i think its a 66 aswell. such a waste a one owner original condition bug, after 6 years would it start? im going there this summer so i might have a look at it. Cheers from Sweden!
Can anyone advise where is the beat place to restore my dad's old 1967 VW beetle? It was his first vehicle to own and one that brought his kids including myself home from hospital. It has great sentimental value to him and would be great to be restored. It is currently in Tanzania. Any ideas are most welcome!
@mikethenascarfan - Not sure about the final cost, but would have to guess (with a new 1915 motor this year) somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-18k. Thanx......
Perfect Video...what drop did you install for the front end drop? Or is that just a tire size difference to achieve the dropped look. I have the exact same car...though considered a ‘67 due to the Aug of 1966 build date. I am in the middle of the same body off restoration. Always researching. Thanks for sharing.
The motor that came in the car that I used for about two tears was a 1500 single port. It now sports a built 1915 with dual webbers. Gene Berg heads, DPR crank and H-beam rods...

I'm starting to fall in love with this car
Beautiful job, you saved another VW from the crusher. every one of them counts.

Very nice bug and interesting video.
love the interior and the pop out windows.
great job! I have a 73 and looking for a 67 or older. Just classy lines and that metal dash.
Excellent restoration, very well done, wheels you chose bring it to the 21 st century, but a level height would be my way. Once again, top marks.
Fantastic job! I restored a 66 bug too. I wasn't such a thorough job, though.
Wow, really looks great. Nice job.
Thats a lovely car man, congratulations, the only thing i'd change would be the rims, to stock ones with the white band, but anyway is a badass car.
I sure do miss i 66'. She was a pretty white, and around the windows she was a nice tan....

Thanks for answer.
