    This tutorial was amazing. It's the first time I've EVER painted or drawn anything resembling a realistic animal and, although it's not perfect, the eye is incredible and it's given me the confidence to carry on. I've learnt so much more from this one video than from the countless books and tutorials I've been through over the last few years

    Aquarel artists use neutral tint, instead off black and mix it in with a natural shade that fits with the drawing. So for this fox piece, i would ad soms orange/brown to the "black" to make it warmer. I feel the blue is distracting from the classic orange and warm colours off the fox, but to each there own.

    I always thought the lighter parts were done first with watercolour?

    • @irisalton8372
      @irisalton8372 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not always, the lights are "saved" in various ways but not necessarily painted first.

    • @kyliaeastwell1394
      @kyliaeastwell1394 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I thought too! Which is why I found this different approach so interesting.

    • @pat4005
      @pat4005 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's much easier to paint from light to dark when doing watercolor (if for no other reason).
      Otherwise, if you paint the dark colors first, then you spend time and effort after that, to avoid coming up against the dark area's edges, and re-wetting the darks, which could cause the dark colors to bleed into the lighter colors.
      If you don't plan to do that on purpose, then I think transparent watercolor is more user-friendly when you work from light to dark.

    Loved doing this! Do you leave the salt on the painting or brush it off when it's dried?

    • @irisalton8372
      @irisalton8372 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Salt needs to be removed--when it is dry brush off with your hand and then go over it again to feel for pieces that got left behind. Nothing worse than a piece of salt coming loose after a painting has been framed and sitting at the bottom of the glass :)

    A group of foxes is called a skulk, leash or earth. The term "skulk" may be used for any animal considered vermin, but it is especially associated with foxes, which are indeed considered a vermin species in Europe and Great Britain due to their high numbers.
