    Very informative. I would even be interested in a longer video elaborating more on the tuning window

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We'll look into that for you, great idea! Basically, When we refer to the 'Tuning Window', we're talking about the difference in available performance at low boost versus high boost. To explain an overly simplistic example; If your 3000HP Pro Mod Drag Car can't use more than 300HP on launch due to grip levels or chassis, you will need to bypass 2700HP & this will need a much larger gate, with good manifold priority. A smaller gate may happily allow you to dial in you top end HP target, but if you're trying to get down to lower levels for whatever reason (Drive ability, launch control, valet mode, etc) you will need a larger gate for the extra bypass requirements. The most often overlooked requirement is running in a new motor... Often the manifold & gate is chosen for the HP, but the requirements for a low boost run in tune are ignored until its too late!

      @@TurbosmartHQso a larger wastegate gives a larger option, as in it can do both high and low, is there any drawbacks in choosing a big wastegate or would it be better in general?

    So let me throw my scenario out there since I didnt see you list it.
    Decently built 5.3L with a 88mm turbo. Would a 50mm BOV and 50mm wastegate with CO2 work well? The wastegate would have good priority and the Turbo is a T6 with a 1.09 A/R housing

    This video suggests a 50mm WG for a six cylinder, but the product advisor suggests a 60mm. 2JZ NA-T, 350hp, single G25-550. What's the right path to take here? Thanks.

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Our product advisor tends to recommend products on the safer side. In this situation, we personally think the 60mm is far too large for that setup and possibly even the 50mm. You would likely be fine with our GenV HyperGate45 at that horsepower level.

    But what are the real dissedvatages of running a to big waste gate? All the explenations in this video make the bigger ones seme like the better option

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically, the bigger will always give you the widest possible tuning window. The only real problem with running a larger gate than you need is technically the boost control 'resolution' when the gate physically opens off the seat. This in 99.9% of cases however is easily compensated for by any decent boost controller, including a simple mechanical boost-tee.

      It's not the High End HP target that will dictate the gate you need - It's the low power target... So you tell us, how much of a 'tuning window' are you after? And keep in mind this is even more important if you ever need a low-boost run in tune. etc. In any case, you can visit our product advisor now live on the website which will tell you which gate we recomend. You'll need to enter the variables of your build & we'll tell you which products you'll need! www.turbosmart.com/product-advisor/
