Enjoy your journey, especially when you get to the Columbia Reach! The longest section with no dams (that is the definition of a reach) surrounded by beautiful scrub steppe vegetation. The areas next to the river have a lot of green vegetation because they have better access to water but not too far out from there it looks more like you would expect for a desert.
So I really enjoy your content, let me tell you though my husband and I basically live like this except in our truck, and it's not easy without a home to go back too
I bet you love finding a campsite with a shower. I know I couldn't do that not for that long maybe a week that's it. That kind of looks very heavy but it's beautiful 💖

This area is so beautiful. Are you going to go see any of the falls? There are so many trails to see the different falls. It's been 15 years since I've been to oregon. The last time I was there, I went to Multnomah falls it was absolutely beautiful.
It. Looks incredible….. I assume you have jobs that you can work hard at and self employed to be able to takes months off at a time !! All credit to you managing your work around your love of hiking !! 🎉
The canoe would have some buoyancy in the water. Swim towards the boat. Grab ahold. at a calm place in the river, both people would would tip and "drain" the canoe. Lifting above their heads. Then flip back over. And climb in. Then important to get to shore and dry/warm up to prevent hypothermia. The process is strenuous and stressful. Adrenaline and fight or flight kicks in. I learned/practiced this in boyscouts.
