I go for the Mark five because it’s a little bit cheaper than the jcm 800 2203x and you get more options like distortion unlike the Marshall. But both pretty good amps tho!
I have a 90w Mark V and and 1979 2203, they're both frigging amazing! Very different flavours though. 2303 absolutely needs a boost, Mark V not at all 🤘👍 (I also have the same explorer 😆)
In your opinion, would the Mark V's rock tones i.e. Edge and Crunch satisfy a Marshall tone enthusiast? I'm liking the idea of the Mark V because of its unparalleled versatility.
Aside the more low-mids of the Mesa where the Marshall has more high-mids openness, the real big difference I think is more felt by the player: the Mesa would feel much more saturated and angry than the boosted jcm800. Source: i have a 2203 and tried the mkv
I think the feel of Marshall would be more "sponge like" and fluid vs. the mark series would be clunky and separated. The tubes and cab will also make a difference
Hey thanks for that video. I believe it is my favorite so far. Now my 💭. They arent necessary but ill say it anyway. First off, both amp sound absolutely monstrous here, for different reason. For the rythme part, i thought i favoured the Jcm for the added clarity and sharps mids over the beefier sound, low end heavy but sharp sound of the Mark. But in different part i ended up thinking the Mark sounded better. It just goes to show that both amp are end game material. For the solo, The JCM sounded awesome of course but i was surprised about how crisp the mark was! Usualy i say that marshall scream and Mesa sings. Here they were both screaming. I wouldn’t be able to pick a clear winner here. Just 2 fabulous amp at their best. If i could have only one amp, i guess i would go with the Mark for the added versatility on tap, but thats about it! And the playing…wow you are talented my friend.
I don't currently have any Bass Guitars and I'm not a fan of the "Computer Bassist". It took me quite a while to get convinced to use a "Computer Drummer". Cheers -Ryan
Id say both won, different character, but the quality of tone was 10/10 for both. I usually prefer Mesa, but this time if I had to pick it’d be the Marshall.
Thanks for this shootout! Both well into my top 5 amps.
Your riffs are soooo good. You make great content. Dont stop we love it.
Bro your chops are effing BRUTAL!!!!
I look forward to your videos before I go to work. Keep up the grind, man. Cant ho wrong with a jcm 800 but the mk4 sounds good as hell too

You can always run el34 power tubes in the MkV for a more British flavor.
Both seem to work well together. Have lead with the jcm 800 and rythum on the mark V
Just great riffs as always
Awesome demo... I have both amps and love them both...
Have the jcm800 and it sounds amazing. Would love a mark v though
Can y’all steer me toward the lite rock shootout between these two Titans? 🤔 maybe some Hall & Oats?

get both amps, run an aby switcher and activate both together. Best of both worlds!
I've got a mesa mark 3 and don't like the feel of it even with one distortion, one tube screamer, and an eq.

Mesa for rhythm, Marshall for lead in this style
I do always put like button since the disclaimer ♥
What kind of transformers your jcm have? The Dagnall or the latest vietnamese MAV?
Hi. Whats the year of your amps ? Thanks
I like them both. I'll take one of each.
can you throw some bass guitar into the mix? that would change context and amp character! \m/
great demos! keep on rockin'

Nice work! What are the string gauges for the two guitars? Thanks!
10-46 Gauge Strings. I like a little bit of looseness in the strings when Down Tuning. Cheers -Ryan
Great comparison and really great riffs!! Overall, Marshall won the contest in my opinion.
Id say both won, different character, but the quality of tone was 10/10 for both. I usually prefer Mesa, but this time if I had to pick it’d be the Marshall.
Both are great amps, but the Mesa is tighter, more focused and just better for my taste, I have a Mark V 25 that I will never part with.
Marshall's nuttier, woodier while the Mesa's darker and more scooped. Prefer the Marshall, but it's close. Both have great tone.
I just come for the music, the amps are secondary lol
Very very similar.
Obviously the Mark V there is no competition
Marshall ❤
even for stupid metal music the marshall wins hands down, the mesa is less defined
Kinda just depends what you're going for. The mark 5 sounds thicker but has less presence
