Just to expand on Rob74959’s comment, Tool’s record label was giving them a lot of grief, interfering with the creative process, basically said, “You need to give a good, hard rocking tune that’ll get us lots of airplay & sell well as a single.” Tool really puts a lot of effort into making each album a cohesive work of art, so this just really pissed them off. The long mellow section essentially guaranteed the song wouldn’t be radio-friendly. A giant “fuck you” to the label. “Is what you wanted? Is this is what you had in mind? Is this what you wanted? Cause this is what you’re getting. I hope, I hope, I hope you choke!!” 😈
Great Tool reactions man😎 A couple more suggestions for you from the newest album, Descending and Invincible(ah hell, make it 3 songs and throw 7empest in there too). That's over 30 minutes of music to keep you occupied for a bit!!😁 Spiral out!!!🌀🌀🌀
That was how it was in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s when MTV was still a thing and radio play was important to the label. Considering that I figured that might be the message. Thanks for watching. 🤘
As much as I love current calmer, older, Maynard, I wish every ten years Maynard would split off an unageing clone that would stay that age forever. Angry young Maynard was a whole different being, and angry middle aged Maynard was also a whole different being. Of course this would also mean we'd get new Maynard music much more frequently.
Pro’ly the last pure Angry Maynard / Tool song. Pivotal album in all. Reserve some space for a full album. Listen when you’re done with all this. And by now you see why so many call Danny the GOAT, the Octopus, Danny Kraken… This ain’t even his best work!
Tools big FU to the record company who wanted them to write a radio friendly shorter song ,so the mellow pause in the middle was to drag the song out some to be to long for radio play
It's going on the list. I think that's an older tune, right?. A good one to do to get a feel of their earliest work. Thanks for watching and commenting. 😃
@@B-Drags-Den it is! i believe it came out in 1992. it should definitely give you a sense of their progression while still being a complete kickass tune. really enjoying your journey ♥
You can really feel the emotion in his voice on this song
Completely fed up and pissed he is. Thanks for watching. 🤘

That's what it felt like. I could feel their rebel response. Thanks for watching. 🤘
This song is about how the record label can be seen as Ticks and Leeches so the guys in the band purposely made the song not radio friendly
That's hilarious. A big F you to them. Funny though, I would have loved to hear this on the radio back in the day. Thanks for watching. 🤘
Exactly well said Rob

Check out No Quarter by Tool Zeppelin cover
That one has been requested a couple of times. I'll brush up on the original first. Then get it out. Thanks for watching. 🤘

Cool, thanks! I'm seeing the time commitment to some of their songs and I know it's worth it. Thanks for watching. 🤘
Spot on with the label thing

Danny Carey is one of the absolute greatest drummers of all time. His grasp of time signatures and polyrhthms are baffling.
I'm finding that out. It's like he's tricking your ears. Thanks for commenting.

It's hard to keep up with all his fills. But I know I know I'd miss them if they were not there. I'll take the advice. Thanks for watching. 🤘
@@B-Drags-Den Srsly. Close to 30 years listening to Tool and I’m hearing new fills all the time. Not just Danny either.

It's a bad ass response. Middle fingers in the air. Thanks for watching. 🤘
check out “part of me” from their opiate ep. ☺
