- Diggle Diaries: An attempt to film all daylight running freight and interesting workings from Diggle Junction. Situated on the picturesque Trans-Pennine, Manchester to Huddersfield and Leeds route, Diggle Jn lies at the top of a steep incline leading into Standedge Tunnel. Providing beautiful scenery, varied freight and trains working hard up the hill, there aren’t many better places for a bit of trainspotting.

Honestly this is a great video, heard about your channel but watching a video for the first time. Really do like the clips that were filmed, the drone footage of the Class 69 was nice.

Excellent vid again Luke, really admire GBRF for all the interesting liveries they come up with! And I had no idea TfW were running 67's to Swansea - I thought they never ventured further west than Cardiff. Shall have to get out and try to see one when the nights get lighter! Looking forward to the upcoming videos!
Cheers Keith, yeah have to hand it to them at least they’re trying to make 66’s a bit more interesting. Had to confirm the 67 but yeah my realtime screenshot from the day indeed says Swansea!
@@DiggleJunction Yes, I checked Nat Rail & RTT and indeed there are 67 workings into Swansea, but in the dark on weekdays at the moment. Surprisingly there are weekend workings too, in daylight on Sunday - but tomorrows have a bus replacement...!!! 😂

Excellent, some great shots, I saw 37057 going throgh Levenshulme on the morning of the 7th, checked when it was due back, planning to film it, but it ran 170 minutes early! oh well, glad you got it. Thanks.

I captured 66746 "Belmond Royal Scotsman" on the Drax yesterday too, passing through Rainhill. Love the Livery. 👍🏻

The Mrs and I love your channel so much that we’ve decided to visit Diggle at Easter (Good Friday to Easter Sunday). For the railway and the landscape, before hitting the East Lancs for a Sunday dining train.
Got ourselves some accommodation for a few nights on the canal. If you fancy a pint at the hotel or any other suggested hostelry to chat railways for a bit we’d be up for that. Looking forward to seeing the land of Diggle and its picturesque railway in the flesh 🚂👍🏻.
That’s fantastic mate, hopefully the weather will be on your side, it’s a lovely walk up the canal. Make sure to pay a visit to see the signal box before it’s gone behind a nice ice cream parlour (Grandpa Greenes). What a great variety Luke, definitely plenty of action there. Earlier this evening my wife and I were watching Canal Boat Diaries, which featured shots of Diggle as Robbie Cummin went through the tunnel to Marsden! Re the electrification, there doesn't seem to be much clearance under the bridge between the hotel and your place, will they have to change things to make it work?
Thanks a lot mate. Yeah I see a lot of canal boat stuff from here, I gather it’s a bit of a bucket list challenge for boaters. So many locks to get up to it before you even tackle the tunnel. I don’t think they’ve got much of an idea yet but I imagine they’ll have to replace it.
Love the channel lots of train variety, lovely scenery. Bash the 69s .anyway up to carslie hope you bump into another youtuber that films up there, keep up the good work 👍.

Enjoyed your video,as a ex Steam fireman/driver still cannot get used to diesels, main line at bottom of garden, Worcester to Birmingham,never seen class 70, but SVR two mile away, they have one coming to diesel gala.Kind regards

Thanks a lot Kryss. I do always seem to get a dog playing around, you can usually tell when I take mine with me as she pulls the lead/tripod just as the train comes into shot 😂

Another good one, the 66 and its wagons at 5m 17s is bouncing up and down on those points, is it usually like that.
Cheers mate, yeah they do bounce a lot over those points. There’s a temporary speed limit for locos over them at the moment so I’m guessing it’s worse than normal. I’ll try and get a closer shot in the next vid
