Thanks Luke. You are one of the few on yt who doesn't bang on about "thrash" , "tones" and all the other childish nonsense. And of course your'e not a embarrasing, publicity hungry wannabee who acts like an imbecile when a train goes past. Same name, but no headcam!!
Thank you very much Luke for covering the movements in your area, and sort of local to you. Wow that was lucky with the two sheds passing you on the ECML.
Great set of Traction thank you for all for recording. The Midland Pullman lovely and what could of been a every day sight if the Woodhead line was kept open.
I think you may have to keep that woman, Luke. Racing out in the dark and cold to catch a shot for you, now that's dedication! Another winner of a Diaries. 👍👍
I remember Blue Peter (the loco) being on Blue Peter, the TV show, showing my age 😂. They had a feature on Barry's scrapyard on it, it traumatised me deeply. What a cracking video, well done guys.😊
November certainly was a great month for variety up there Luke - the opening clip must have been a pretty unique triple header! Really enjoyed the steamers as well - of course the Castle was the best! Loved the snowy scenes too, all we had down here was 5 minutes of sleet! Another really enjoyable video (& I missed the opening slide too!!)
Thanks as always mate, very unique triple header but funnily enough it happened again a few days later! I always enjoy seeing GWR locos up here, feels extra special out of their usual habitat.
Glad you caught Mayflower Luke, I was with a few other guys standing in the rain expecting to see it passing through Hebden Bridge unaware until quite late on that it’d been diverted…take it from me a Northern 195 was no substitute 😂
That was some rain too mate, I was half expecting it to still come your way and head up Copy to Preston and onwards from there. A Northern 195 is no substitute for anything 😂
Cheers Geoff, highlight for me too. With most of the train hanging out over the mainline and down the hill that was quite the weight to get moving in those horrific conditions. Me thinks a quick a radio message went through to the 57 to give it a boot full.
Another great video Luke we bean spoiled for the last month really enjoyed it and to top it off got a big new telly and it's great to watch it on the big screen so once again a massive thumbs up 👍👍 PS can we have a few more shots of the forward and backward shots cheers
Thank you Luke and to your good lady for legging it down the path to catch the shot. A great video. Good to see the 37s in Stalybridge - I'd have walked down to see them had I known they were coming in. Blue Peter (then in green livery) was a fixture at Dinting when I was younger - it's lovely to see her back in steam and working mainline duties.
Thanks as always Ruth, they’re booked in once a month on that date usually with at least one 37 on there 👍🏻 would be nice to see BP back in green one day, although she does look bloody good in blue!
Great stuff Luke, I got caught up at Huddersfield, in the Broken Rail fiasco, ended up having to get a taxi. Saw the Pullman 43’s in the West Yard. At Donny. They were about to leave as I was heading back to Leeds. Thanks a lot.
Bloody hell mate what a nightmare that must have been. There were just no routes between Yorkshire and Greater Manchester with all the chaos. Hope you at least got reimbursed for the cab!
Thanks a lot Colin, we’ve got a nice drone shot of Blue Peter leaving the loop too we couldn’t include for technical reasons but will try and get it in the next episode.
Hi Luke, only just found your website. So, to explain me contacting you, relates to during the early to mid 60's I've worked over that route many times! I was an ex: BR fireman from the Manchester area via the Micklehurst line - had many a struggle too, with heavy freight trains, even with Sulzer Type 2's (Class 24/25')! Oh and what 'happy times' they were😉 Thanks for sharing your excellent footages.👍
Fantastic mate, thanks for sharing the memories. Big shame the Micklehurst loop is a thing of the past, would certainly help with the congestion over this line these days! Firing steamers up these hills must have been quite the task, bet you had arms like tree trunks 😂
Richard thanks so much mate, really appreciate anyone feeling the channel is worth donating towards. Know that it all goes back in to improve the vids, cheers 👍🏻
Thanks mate. They’re mostly from models and train sim and require a lot of work, luckily I’m building a bit of a database now so can just drop them in when needed.
Interesting that the flask working at the end only had one loco. I was under the impression that these required 2 locos, or was that a stock move and not an actual working?
I’m so slacking with these replies it currently is December 14th and sadly not getting chance to get out for the 40/45, missing a big one a fear with those two beauties.
I believe so mate, not seen anything in it all year and it used to be used at least once a month. I gather with the route upgrade it’s going to get the chop anyway.
Please ignore the opening slide, no idea how I missed that 🤦🏻♂️
😂

@@steveluckhurst2350You have some quite strong and dodgy opinions
@@CDMtransport nothing dodgy about my opinions! Which one of my OPINIONS did you take exception to?
@steveluckhurst2350 'thrash' is not childish nonsense. It's a well used term and not just one for kiddies
Thank you very much Luke for covering the movements in your area, and sort of local to you.
Wow that was lucky with the two sheds passing you on the ECML.
Cheers Mike, couldn’t have planned that ECML shot better if I tried haha. Was hoping the light engine would slow a bit and get a side by side shot.
Brilliant thanks a lot look forward to it 👍👌
Great set of Traction thank you for all for recording. The Midland Pullman lovely and what could of been a every day sight if the Woodhead line was kept open.
Thanks mate, still a travesty that line was ever closed.
I think you may have to keep that woman, Luke. Racing out in the dark and cold to catch a shot for you, now that's dedication! Another winner of a Diaries. 👍👍
Thanks a lot mate, haha she does put up with an awful lot on my part 😂
I remember Blue Peter (the loco) being on Blue Peter, the TV show, showing my age 😂. They had a feature on Barry's scrapyard on it, it traumatised me deeply.
What a cracking video, well done guys.😊
Thanks very much Lisa, seeing old photos from there is a sore sight. Good to know they were almost all rescued in some form or another though.
Thanks again for another wonderful video, Awesome stuff!
Cheers Mike 👍🏻

fab as always Luke top notch
Thanks a lot mate, always appreciated 👍🏻
Thanks Luke - great vid as always. I love the sound of a 68 - for me it’s second only to a deltic at full speed. Cheers from down under, Marty.
Cheers mate, they do sound bloody fantastic. Hope you’re summer is going well.
Super stuff Luke, great to see the steamers on the channel keep up the mix...
Thanks mate, I do love a steamer for a change.
Can’t beat a diggle dairies on a Friday brilliant Lee 👍🏻
Thanks a lot June!

The variety is strong in this one, Luke 👏🤭
Haha 👌🏻 nice one mate.
Great video again Luke. Good to see 3 steamers. Loved the little bit of wheel slip as Mayflower pulled away.
Cheers Geoff, highlight for me too. With most of the train hanging out over the mainline and down the hill that was quite the weight to get moving in those horrific conditions. Me thinks a quick a radio message went through to the 57 to give it a boot full.

Thanks a lot Dave, loud and clear on the double shots. Always try and get them of light engines so will work to get more 👍🏻
It is like Network Rail are adjusting their schedule for you to get the best footage. Thanks to everyone fir another great video.
Haha they must have read this message and cut off all movements for December mate 😂 it’s been quiet as a mouse so far.
Thank you Luke and to your good lady for legging it down the path to catch the shot. A great video. Thx Luke just keeps getting better and better.!👏👏.can’t believe how fast the steam train and 57 rattled thru.!!🫣🫣🫣
Thanks as always mate, the wife couldn’t believe it either haha. That 57 must have been doing some serious pushing!
Great stuff Luke, I got caught up at Huddersfield, in the Broken Rail fiasco, ended up having to get a taxi. Saw the Pullman 43’s in the West Yard. At Donny. They were about to leave as I was heading back to Leeds. Thanks a lot.

Wow what an absolute piece of engineering locomotives are stunning that drone shot above blue Peter was awesome and the mayflower what a loco 👍👌
Thanks a lot Colin, we’ve got a nice drone shot of Blue Peter leaving the loop too we couldn’t include for technical reasons but will try and get it in the next episode.
Corker! .....cheers Luke
Cheers Declan 👍🏻
Great video Luke. Many thanks. I'm not a huge steam fan but I do like to see it on the main line. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Gary, agree with you on that one, great seeing them being able to stretch their legs a bit.

Cheers mate, definite highlight month for me that one.
Another great Diggle Diaries! 👍 I’m off to Swindon on Monday for my final filming trip of the year so hoping for a good one up there!
Thanks mate, how did the Swindon trip work out?
@ yeh it was a good one thanks! To want to go you have to be a fan of IETS & 66s 😂
One of the best. Really enjoyed your video. Never seen it before, but have now liked and subscribed. Looking forward to seeing many more. Love from Oz
Thanks very much Steve, it’s much appreciated and glad you enjoyed the vid 👍🏻
Cracking part 2 Luke. Not been to Sidings in years good to see it's still open
Cheers Andrew, first time visit for me and definitely won’t be the last.

@DiggleJunction
'Arms like tree trunks' - I wish😉
It was a challenge - but a good Stanier 8F was 'the boss'.
Another great video, enjoyed the steam,All best wishes to you both🚂🚂🚂
Thanks very much Ramon 👍🏻

Richard thanks so much mate, really appreciate anyone feeling the channel is worth donating towards. Know that it all goes back in to improve the vids, cheers 👍🏻

Haha not as fit as I thought I was 😂
thanks for another great video
Thanks a lot mate, glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Great video loads of action on that line
do you know where you get the little pictures of the locos down the bottom?
😁😁😁
Thanks mate. They’re mostly from models and train sim and require a lot of work, luckily I’m building a bit of a database now so can just drop them in when needed.
@ oh right, do you reckon I could use some of them 😁
Excellent again Luke, dont tell me your planning to actually do the York Hotel 24 hour.
Haha cheers Seb, would be the most comfortable 24 hour special I’ve ever done 😂
Interesting that the flask working at the end only had one loco. I was under the impression that these required 2 locos, or was that a stock move and not an actual working?
You and me both mate, it was only a stock move after tyre turning in Leeds for the wagons but even still they usually send 2 locos.
Hello it’s me Daniel from York
Hey Daniel, great to meet you a couple of weeks ago pal 👍🏻 hope your shots came out well.
Amazing video 👏 are you seeing the 40 and 45 14th December and just announced Rog 37 UK railtour Preston to Stevenage 13-15th

I don't remember seeing anything in the loop lately. Is it out of commission?
I believe so mate, not seen anything in it all year and it used to be used at least once a month. I gather with the route upgrade it’s going to get the chop anyway.
Opening titles say Diggle diaries September 2024?
Dammit! No idea how I missed that. Will edit it out as soon as poss, cheers.
