  • On May 12th 2009 Victor Saldana guides you around the small town High School of Genoa-Kingston. Located in rural Northern Illinois the graduating class of GK was just over 100 individuals in 2009. This is the class of 2009 last day of school officially during a third half-day of finals and three days before graduation night.
Genoa, Illinois has a population of less than 6000 individuals while the rest of the public school district comes from small towns like Kingston, Illinois with populations of less than 2000 within city limits.
In January of 2009 six months before graduating we saw the miracle on the hudson. Less than a month after graduating we saw the first American pandemic in nearly 100 years when the H1N1 Swine Flu became a national emergency.
The Genoa-Kingston School District acronym is COGS (City of Genoa Schools) which has been painted on all of the city garbage cans and property for years. The acronym extended to the mascot of Genoa... the Cogs, the gk cogs.
This was my very first vlog video. The camera used to document this last day of school was the very first consumer HD camera by Sony on the market. I purchased this camera for $2000 because it was the only HD camera available to me. Was the first kid in town to have a picture phone and the first to have a video phone. Yeah I'm that old.
I've devoted my life to video and making others laugh and while not all of my content reflects on retro awesomeness like this one does. I really hope you'll subscribe and go on this life long journey with me because even if you aren't watching. I'm not going anywhere. I'm here to stay.
This video has done a lot for me in terms of a true audience and exposure and I will always be eternally grateful to my high school buddies who on a whim decided to turn the camera on our last day of school.
