I used cyanoacrylate glue to mount some kekkis and some mini phals that were not doing well awhile back. They seem to be doing okay, new roots coming out and new leaves on a couple of them. I used maple tree bark that was sloughing off an old dead tree at my house.

Great job. All of them look very neat and clean. I didn't know that crazy glue wouldn't hurt the roots, it takes the skin right off my fingers. lol I started all of my mounting with that raffia ribbon that Miss Orchid girl used, then I went to fishing line which looked much better because you couldn't see it as much, but this, you don't see at all. Sweet.

Can't wait to try this. It is fantastic. I am so over the wires, string, etc. I am going to try this on a dendrobium aggregatum I have had this seedling for 2 years now, and no progress whatsoever, so maybe this will do the trick. Thank you!!! P.S. If you have any tips for the Den aggregatum, please let me know.

I have now moved four of my bulbophyllums onto your diaper method. Three were in pots and not really happy, the fourth was a new purchase that was already mounted but I noticed some webs and eggs in the moss and bark and didn't want to see what might emerge! I used some wire bird-feeders that I'd had for years and never used - they're used for slabs of fab and are around 6 inches square and about 1 1/4 inches thick. A layer of moss went on the bottom, sides, backs and fronts and was infilled with a bark/charcoal/leca mix. The first two plants were mounted about 4 or 5 months ago and last week I noticed one of them, B. lepidum is producing a spike. Thanks for the idea, as you say, always loads to learn with orchids.

Hi Brad, I love this mounting method. I think you used a laelia as an example and mentioned growing on rock. I have a small Laelia perrini (I think), it's small. But I think I'm overwater (which I love to do). I really like the mount on the upside down pot and the fact that you have no moss at all. Thanks so much for the great idea. I guess I should look to my other cattleyas laelias who's roots are all growing out of the pot and have green tips as a sign they don't need lots of media. 😄

Brad, I know this is an older post so don’t know if you will even see and respond. I saw where some folks were asking where to find. Maybe this will help - almost every country has model/hobby shops and saltwater reef or aquarium shops where this product is sold. And each country has the big “A” and the big “W”. I know I saw this for the UK for all of these and the USA for the big W and the A. Didn’t know if we can mention the large retailers.
There are a couple of other brands but it didn’t sound like they worked as well as the one Brad used - (Bob Smith Industries - IC-Gel Insta Cure Cyanoacrylate Gel). You can go to manufacturer and check where to find in your area in the USA by putting in zip code. Might be able to call or email mfg. for other countries too.
Due to the mention on it freezing/drying up quick - I would make sure it is brand new and never opened and someone doesn’t try to pass off their old stuff on you. Brad what was your experience in it’s life after opening the tube and was there any kind of expiration date on the tube or box? It isn’t very expensive (+/- $7 for a big 20 grams) if it dries up but you might want to plan to do most of your mounts at one time. In the generic product name link below - it gives a couple tips on preserving it after opening.
Also, for your white areas where you removed moss - see the reef shop description below where they mentioned using sand to sort of give the glue texture and blend in with rock etc. I thought maybe you can use a thin layer and attach pieces of bark to cover your white areas. Of course, a wood chisel might take it off too if it is bugging you and hasn’t disappeared yet.
This stuff has a pretty interesting history and the link below give info on the cyanoacrylate gel and more importantly how to use, precautions and the fact that it doesn’t last long after opened (maybe a month) - a year if never opened, to use it in thin layers, how to help preserve it after opening, and how to remove if on fingers, etc.
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyanoacrylate
    using the gel in tanks
    m.th-cam.com/video/NypPFJ2tC6w/w-d-xo.html
Description from a reef shop- www.bulkreefsupply.com/ic-gel-insta-cure-cyanoacrylate-gel.html
comes 20-gram tubes and is a widely used super glue within the hobby. With its quick dry time, and extra thick consistency you can use the IC-Gel on vertical surfaces and it will not run. It is great for heavier frags that you need to stand vertical or heavier rock work. IC-Gel comes in a tube like toothpaste which makes it very easy to dispense the amount needed, and when it comes down to the last few drops you can still get it out, unlike harder plastic bottles. Super glue (cyanoacrylate) is widely used for mounting coral frags to plugs, rocks, and what ever you may need to attach them to. Super glue can also be used to bond rock work when aquascaping for a seamless look. We find that if larger gaps are needed to be bridged when aquascaping either building up layers of glue, or placing a smaller rock that fits in the gap and then gluing over the top works really well. Usually when using super glue with aquascaping we will take a small amount of large grain sand to help give the glue some texture and blend it into the rock as well.

+Randy Watts Hi Randy, I might tell you that, oak tree bark may deteriorate quickly and fall apart. Once the bark is off the tree it rots pretty fast. But it will look nice for a while. Cork bark is just better, if you get good bark! Zoo Med bark is really good. Check out Amazon or Pet Mountain for Zoo Med bark. Hope this helps

What happens when the plant outgrows that particular peice of bark and the moss needs changed?

You unmount it and put it on a bigger one. Crazy glue might need to be chipped off from the bark side though if it doesn't come off by itself as the orchid grows.

      Description from a reef shop-
comes 20-gram tubes and is a widely used super glue within the hobby.
