    Hi Lau.
    I forgot about all the lead pipes in older homes.. Mine is relatively new at 37 years , so no lead pipes..
    The lead isn't that great for you either unless you drink bottled water.
    Isn't always the way that the most expensive fish is always the one that gets damaged, sick or taken by a Heron...
    Never a fish we want to move along.
    On a side note... Do love your sink and taps ..
    That is interesting stuff you added.
    At least you can still feed them... I always love your night shots!!

      Hi Chris, thank you ☺️
      Our house is just 50 years old. Everybody here in houses have got copper pipes. The lead pipes were the old pipes leading to the road.

    It would be unusual for the lead in your water pipes to be causing any problems because the lead pipes get coated over the years. You can get lead test kits. I had a property that I rented out which I found I had lead supply pipes. I use to test them every six months and they never proved to be a problem.

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's really good to hear. They explained that all the lead pipes are being replaced in England but they do flush the pipes with chloramine after that. It's not an easy thing to deal with all of a sudden. I guess I have to wait for the full results to know exactly what I am dealing with. For them to come out indicates to me that there is effectively a big problem. Hopefully it won't be long till I know. Thank you for commenting

      It is frustrating. Battling since June really. But at least they came out and doing a full water analysis. I probably will have the results from the lab this week.
      The thing is, whether it's trickled or whether you do a massive water change due to being pump fed, it's just in my case bad water going in. I can only wait for the results and then I'll know a bit more what I am dealing with.

    I hope the pond detox formula helps you Lau,
    That level of nitrite in the water is shocking!
    I've never been a big fan of potions in ponds, unless you know what they contain.
    But Paula really knows her stuff and I would trust the products she sells.
    I've used the LFH Envirex for a couple of years now, and think it helps with keeping the pond clean.
    I haven't used the detox formula before, but if it is similar to the envirex you don't need very much and a tub lasts me a year.
    I think our tap water is one of the biggest reasons people can have very successful simple ponds in some parts of the country.
    and really struggle in other parts.
    I know my tap water is absolutely rubbish, but ground water from heavily industrialised mining areas like mine are going to be laced with all manner of toxins.
    One of the reasons i've ended up with 3 x 36" big blues in a row, and playing around with R.O. Systems.
    The japanese seem to have very little problem with parasites ect.. and it may be due in part to the exeptionally high water quality they have.
    Similar to the Netherlands that has water so pure and clean they don't even use chlorine at all.

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dave, thank you for commenting. I need to read a bit more about the Envirex as a lot of people seem to be using it too. I have the funny feeling that RO might be my only solution in the end. Not an expense I was planning for ... I just have to wait and see the results of the water tests. Dreading to see what they come back with. I have been so lucky with no parasites this year but been battling with the water... Since the beginning of the summer. Let's hope I can do something...

    hi Lau, hope you get to the bottom of this ill look forward to your update. ive just checked my tap water and I'm getting a reading of 13ppb/ 0.04 mg/l which I know isn't high but still in the water which I wasn't aware of to be honest. I'm going to keep an eye on it as ive had non stop trouble with flashing and no parasites. which after seeing your video its pushed me to look into sending some samples off to have them tested also to see the quantity of metals in the water as ive been thinking about this anyway. I have a trickle in/out so if there's water source issues it could also be my problem as well. Jason

    • @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection
      @LauMagroTheFrenchKOInection  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jason, yes the trickle in can bring this problem. So you have some nitrite too but that's very low. I would worry at this stage. I have put a further video with the results. I think it was 2 videos after that. I know what it is now, definitely source water problem so I have been using the Pond Detox Formula weekly from Paula Reynolds and in conjunction with Restore from Spring Bank Koi and happy to say that after a few weeks, all the flashing has stopped. So I use that weekly now

      hi Lau thanks for your reply sorry I didn't realise you done an update. There's so many channels I watch I need to sit down and get through all of yours at some point. Oh, that's good to hear that the detox and the restore are helping. So, do you do a physical water change each week and then put the detox and restore in? so it wouldn't be no good if you had a trickle in really, It would still have them inconsistencies as the detox dilutes over the week if you like until the following dose. ? Interesting stuff this detox would be handy for raising fry as I'm always on the edge with nitrite growing them on this could help them aswell. 🤔

      Yes. This is only the second time I've tested my tap for nitrite using my hanna meter. The first time was in the spring of 2021 which showed 7 ppb. I've only tested it again recently because my pond was showing 19 ppb whereas my average is about 5 ppb. Decelerated ammonium oxidation due to lower temperature is known to cause increased level of nitrite (in water treatment plants) so this didn't surprise me. It usually lowers over the course of the winter and into spring as the filters get adapted and treatment plants increase bacterial (sludge) resident time (lessens their filter flushing).
