When Chris comes out to give the award and says, "can for now" that hit so hard. He was a fantastic doctor and is a wonderful actor. It almost seems like he knew that he wasn't going to do it again when he came on this show. I wish he would be willing to come back for the next anniversary special
@@TheZebbga He was lovely. Very modest about everything. I met him a few years later when he signed the box that the trophy came in and he was exactly the same. A nice guy!
@@karendavies4338 That's cool. I was 6 in 2005 when the reboot started (turned 24 today) so he was my first Doctor. I have met Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy who were all nice, especially Davison and McCoy. Hope I get to meet Eccleston someday because he seems like a nice and down to Earth guy.
This originally aired one week before the world premiere of "Rose", so there was no new doctor who to speak of as yet! This was very much a gift to the fans who had stuck by the programme after all those years!
@@karendavies4338 a colleague of mine said to me that we had been the brave people who had pronounced ourselves as fans way before the coat-tail hangers-on did in the first few weeks of the Eccleston series. Looking at what he said and how he said it I suspect he had already given the Production Team his notice. On the day I just thought he was nervous at meeting a few hundred hard core Who fans. I'd like to think that we made him welcome.
@@hulahoopone if I remember correctly, he was very nervous, but when he said ‘for now’, he knew he wasn’t staying. However, it was lovely to meet him and to be a part of the return of the programme.

He's doing Big Finish at least, the new box set is amazing!
Well yes that would be incredible
The timing is right - he DID know he was leaving at this point.
Omfg, the blind one is the piano tuner from friday night dinner!
That's where hes from! 😂 it was killing me trying to remember
@@louisarcher3038 he was also in the Priests on a Plane episode of Father Ted (and was very good in it too)
@Otto Braydon if you both didn't have accounts that joined 2 weeks ago it mightve looked legit😂😂💀💀💀
Thanks for putting this up. I haven't seen it in over a decade. It was a great thing to have taken part in
And I thought I knew a lot about Doctor Who. Good Grief.
same
28:17 Eccleston was about to say “fantastic” but stopped. 🙁
Well, don't want to run a line into the ground after all!
The actor was in an episode of Father Ted. The one where they're all on the airplane and do a drawing competition to see who gets the parachute.
I smoke too much pot to compete on this show .
I like Karen, glad she won! 😌✨
Karen also won the chase
I like a good quiz!

So many "doh" moments! The worst for me being "carrot juice" good grief. Strictly Modern Who "anoraks" (grr) need not apply
Thank gawd!! This is for those who watched 'proper' Doctor Who.

Not too shabby. I’m better on modern who thsn classic but I knew a few

Humphrys is from Cardiff, and did this - chose to or had to? exactly when NuWho had been full of bigoted slagging of Cardiff its own real life host.

Oh yes and proud of it!
