44 Mag is a fine deer round. Showing my age I recall hunting in W. Virginia in 1964. That was my first time with a rifle since Ohio only allowed bow or shotgun.
When we got to Logan I was offered a choice of a Marlin 30-30 lever or a Ruger 44. That Ruger was fantastic...light, accurate, and more than enough power in brush.

I own two 1894's in 44 magnum and did like a steampunk retro-modern build with the top rail, large HoloSun reflex sight, leather sling and bandolier, etc. Trying to see how good of a fighting rifle could be made that's 50 state legal, and these pack a lot of firepower for a 19th century weapon. They're very fun to take to the range and get people introduced to firearms and fun to load with snap caps and dry fire practice. Love these guns so much!

I bought a Winchester Model 94 and a Marlin 336 both in 30-.30 thirty years ago for my son and me to hunt in the Piney Woods of East Texas. I gave him the Marlin because it was smoother and a bit heavier to handle recoil for a kid. He still has it and I still have the Model 94. I should have made him change rifles when he got bigger and stronger than me ;>)

10 years ago a client of mine got behind and owed me $400. He offered me this rifle in unfired condition, but chambered in 45LC, from his collection as payment. I took it. I was skeptical of a lever action at the time but WOW am I glad I took it. It's everyone's favorite to shoot in this family and had 1,000s of rounds through it. Also, it keeps me busy at the bench reloading 45LCs.
Now my concern is that someday I'll have to pass it down to one of my daughters and I can't split this baby. I'm not sure how to make that decision since they both love it and grew up shooting it...

The Springfield XDM Elite 4.5 in 10mm is hard to beat, 16rds of 10mm is alot of firepower and the pistol is extremely accurate for around $600 is a great buy with a match grade 4.5" barrel and the meta trigger is very nice for a striker fire platform. Great video! Nothing like a good lever rifle. Got two I love, a Henry 22lr and a Rossi 1892 in 45lc

Beautiful rifle, it really is. I've never owned one but I've been around them often. They shoot great too.
    A great video once again.
    God bless all here.

On a target to a lion or other big game like buffalo, how effective is it

If Ruger would make one with 1-20 Rate of Twist I would definitely buy it.

I was lucky enough to get a Marlin Century Limited in "95. I have a Dillon Square Deal and found that reloading .44 WCF a pleasure. I also changed out the safety button for a Turnbull "screw."

Back in 2000 I ordered one of those. Still have it. Sometimes I think of getting another lever action. But this one will do anything I might want to do with a lever rifle.
For plinking, I use a 200 gr RNFP cowboy bullet at .433 diameter. Pushed to 1330 fps with Unique it is very accurate and no leading. This is about the equal to the original 44-40 load. For hunting, the 240 gr JHP or JSP works nicely with WW296 powder.
I have owned many lever rifles over the years. This one just seems perfect. I did add a Marble's Full Buckhorn rear sight like the one on my original 1894 in 44-40. I use the center hold like an aperture. Takes a little practice but works fine.
    Thanks for making this video!

Sir, do you cast those .433 bullets or do you have a commercial source?

@@therealdvaden Montana Bullet Works has some bullets at .433. The 200 gr bullets I mentioned came from a company that went out of business. Steel Valley Casting also makes .432 bullets on special order. It is a coated 240 gr RNFP. I ordered a box from them but havent loaded any yet. The bullets look great and the owner is a good guy.

    Have a 70's 1894 in .44 mag.
The only bad thing is the cost of feeding it.
    Sweet shooter.
