i feel like you coulda explained why to use layered breaks, how to mix the volume between them and such cuz if ppl dont have an ear for music it would be harder for them to hear what layered vs unlayered drums sound like in different songs
Sewerslvt is NOT breakcore lol. I love their music but they're ambient breakbeat. People nowadays think everything that's jungle is breakcore... it's become a buzzword due to it being trendy on social media. Breakcore is more aggressive with more cuts, edits and chopped up drums that are well, faster too. Sewerslvt is amazing but the music is the oppposite of the feel breakcore gives, their music is more for chilling. Good tutorial tho still works when it comes to making jungle breakbeat stuff haha
have u listened to any sewerslvt? yeah there’s a lot of chill tracks and ambient pads and vocal backgrounds but there’s a ton of super aggressive glitchy broken dnb tracks as well so i would say it’s both
@@premiumgarbage true, but in all honesty most of the concepts covered in youtube breakcore tutorials can be applied to actual breakcore, from what i've seen (albeit you'd have to take it to the extreme) which makes sense, i guess - jungle, DnB and breakcore are heavily related and use similar tools after all

It helps to where he’s at if you’re using different software. FL studio. I cant do this on garage band. Although I’m sure someone that knows can. Drums need doubled. One compressed makes drums clear heavier
If you really want to sound like Sewerslvt it's *essential* that you get the sample pack he showed at the beginning. Don't sleep on it. Most Sewerslvt tracks are almost completely made from the breaks and pads in that pack. Can't blame them, it has a lot of great samples.
First off, thanks! This got me started on the genre. BUT: How does this mixing work with multiple breaks? I love chopping up 2-3 breaks together in "main" sections, but if I stereo separate full plus one and not another, the "other" becomes very faint in comparison, and then pads go into it... and it just becomes a bit of a mess. Any advice?
hmm, I guess I would do a couple of things. 1) I would EQ and emphasize different frequencies on the different breaks. 2) I would listen for when the two breaks are just playing at the same thing at the same time and chop out those parts. I would also say having the other break being faint isnt necessarily a bad thing, maybe eq the pad to minimize clashing between that break and your pad as well.
@@Vergence Well, I found two things before this comment, though the comment is much, MUCH appreciated. The problem was/is that I like mixing in multiple breaks for some organized chaos, and in this instance had bits and pieces of four different breaks. 1) I did listen to some Sewerslvt tracks for reference as well, and found that full minus breaks might be the way to go (at least for the most part), so one way was to fully integrate them all and/or adjust how much they are minused on the Stereo Enhancer so that they ALL cut through the mix. Something else I tried but turned out a bit too disconnected was make the "main" break unique from the mess and integrate that, but the shift of focus was too jarring for my taste. 2) If I use Fast Distort after Stereo Enhancer and EQ (around 55% Pre, Threshold to ear, mix and post full, setting A), it acts as a saturator AND like a brickwall limiter. It's a caveman-ish method maybe, but it helps adjust how much of which I want out there. Either case, your video was IMMENSELY helpful and motivating to start getting into chopping up breaks like a maniac chef. Thanks to this, I'm no longer in the "god, I wish I could write songs like that" AND escaped the rut I had been stuck in for a while! So thanks!
