What made this special during the 2001-2002 tour was that Neil played the piano while singing these two songs. As far as I know, he had never played piano during any of his live shows before this (and hasn't done so since then, either).
I saw him as well on this tour and he played piano. I’ve never seen him do it before either. I’ve always enjoyed these songs but watching him actually play the piano was very moving especially with the timing . Made me cry

And as they've gotten more financially able, they have surrounded themselves with other musicians who can concentrate on their instruments. I don't recall seeing videos of the 1970s Elvis playing guitar like he did in the 1950s.
