So, artsy types, I have something of a tip if you like to draw your comfort characters:
Assign them a notebook/sketchbook that is exclusively about them. Paint the cover in colors or symbols you associate with them. Write out conversations. Craft fake polaroids and tape them into the book. Draw out text messages between you two. Etc... Literally anything and everything. This has been extremely helpful for me because if I'm going somewhere I know my anxiety is gonna ramp up or I'm gonna be feeling lonely, I take the notebook with me and look through it, add to it, whatever... It is such a giant help for those rough spots of missing them throughout the day.
P.S make "matching" friendship bracelet(s) and wear it around. Mine always helps bring me down from anxiety and loneliness.
P.P.S I adore this video because now I have a quick go-to to explain comfort characters to people who don't get it yet. It's a lot easier than being like "Um it's like an imaginary friend but... For like, grown ups....."

All of my comfort characters can fit into one or more of these categories:
• Character with blond hair
• Most definitely closeted
• Supposed to be inanimate but is alive because of some paranormal or supernatural reason
• Strong female that does bad things because really bad things happened to them
• literally just wants love and affection but is seen as the villain
• lovable smol bean
• Smart
The fact that my main comfort character falls into multiple categories is concerning, and the person I ship them with, who is also a comfort character, also falls into multiple categories
can relatee tbh my favorite ships are always between 2 comfort characters (that often fall into different categories from each other) sometimes i think i just ship them bc they make me happy and i want them to make each other happy oof
