I don’t know if it depends on your camera model, I contacted cannon support about this same question. The ST-E2 is the transmitter you will need to use this flash off camera.

I figured it out the problem was the sensor was not matching as the one on camera so before buying hot shoe people need to make sure shape of sensor on camera and speedlite just in case I was able to buy the correct one I'm good to go

If you are okay with working with your flash manually off-camera you could choose Altura Photos Wireless flash trigger system. There's not a new firmware yet available from Canon to have this unit work "fully." I love the flash and am hoping they will update the firmware for the older cameras to have the full use of the AI.B function.

Not sure exactly what the issue is but Canon states that this error message appears because the same operation was performed three times, but the appropriate operation could not be completed. It's recommended to turn the power off and on again and temporarily setting switch to the .
Is this flash compatible with Canon 5D Mk iii? I'm not sure why when I set to AI.B mode the motorized flash head will simply return to its straight-on position when I press the camera’s shutter button halfway down.

@Diego Motta. It depends on what you are looking to use it for. With the 430 EX III RT you have the Radio/optical transmitter and receiver built into the flash, it has remote shutter release capabilities, longer battery life, and faster recycle time. With the 470, you have the auto intelligent bounce and swivel head, a little bit more flash power, and the AF assist beam works with 16 points versus 1 point with the 430 EX III RT.
