Thank you! Impulsively bought this some years ago for a wedding, but I didn't know how to use it. Now, some years later, ready to give this speedlight an second try
I did order the Canon 430EX-III RT and used it yesterday during a professional shoot. I was at a reception where I only photographed at single shots but at a very fast rate. It was a bit dark and the flash was set at +1/3th over power @400 ISO. It was fast in the beginning but after 25 shots it did overheat already. Getting lower in power was not an option but since it kept overheating I did have to go up to 1000 ISO at normal power. I was photographing with another photographer that used a Metz Mecablitz 58AF-2 and she didn't have a problem at all. That flash is more powerful, but it didn't shut down ever due to overpowering the flash unit. I screwed up the shoot partly because I could not capture everything in time. Later on when the flash was cooled off a bit I only shot at the higher ISO 1000 because having a noisy shot is always better than not having a well lit shot at all. I ordered a Metz Mecablitz 58-A myself yesterday and will use the Canon for slow photography with my Canon Eos 550D since I could not get a shot well lit indirectly with bouncer on it, even at 800 ISO.

hi izzy..thanks for all the time you put into your videos..i purchased this with the bundle from digital goja because of your youtube videos...thanks for the in depth help with your products.
Good morning, I would like to buy this flash, I would use it to shoot at birthdays or disco nights. Do you think it is powerful enough, being the guide number 43, for my needs? Furthermore, the auxiliary focus is precise? Because not all flashes have a good focus in the dark.
Ray ovac rechargeable batteries work great with this and 600ex rt flash. Quick recycling and recharge them thousands of times. Wal-mart sells them 8 pk aa for less than $8.00 and a (charger and 2 pk aa batteries) for about $14.00.
Hi Izzy, wonderful video as usual! Question: I am an absolute beginner at flash photography and I am trying to understand if, besides buying the canon transmitter and 2 430EX-RTs, there is an equally relatively simple (and maybe less expensive) system or series of individual components that would allow me to trigger 1 or 2 off camera flashes without firing the on camera flash. I have a Canon 800D/T7i. Thank you so much in advance for your help!
Hi Idilia, the only way to trigger them us with the trigger set, and our Altura Photo trigger set for Canon can work with them too, they are the much cheaper option from the Canon OEM.
does the 430exIII support Linked Shot? This was an interesting feature of the 600 but its price has held me back. I. didn't know if this feature would come with a lower price point model.
Hi! This made things much more clear, but I still have a question: I have a Canon Mark iii and this exact flash. I'd like to know if I need a wireless remote transmitter to move the flash off camera or would another 430EXIII do the trick? Thanks!
Wireless Remote question: "Do I need another accessory to wirelessly trigger the flash...no you don't if you have an in built flash". How about if you own a camera without a built in flash? I have a Canon 1DX Mark II. Thanks!!
Thanks for the tutorial. Will this Flash work with my ultra wide angle lens at 10mm? And also do you think 43 is strong enough for Realestate photography and portraits? Ps is it also compatible with my Canon Eos M5? Joel.
Hi Joel, it will be good for your lens, 0.43x is good for real estate photography, although the 10mm lens should be perfect for it, especially for interiors. It is fully compatible with the M5.
Hi Sandra! First, set the camera to Program Auto (P). Access the main menu and select Flash Control. Select Built-in Flash Func. Settings and Choose the EasyWireless Mode. The camera should be set to channel 1. On the flash press the left button on the thumb wheel, and select the slave mode. Once the flash and the camera are set-up you are ready to go. Remember the built-in flash must be up for this to work.

If you would like to use it in slave mode you do not need a trigger, the flash unit can be activated with the light of the master flash unit on the camera.

Hello Dave Gaskell. That's a great question and I myself hope that it could be implemented into the camera bodies. But for right now, you would have to use either the Canon ST-E3-RT radio transmitter, 600 EX II RT, or an additional 430 EX III RT. If you purchase an additional flash, it could be set up to just trigger the off-camera speedlite without emitting a flash itself.
It will depend on the usage of the flash over the years, if it was for professional purposes (used almost every day) or more as a hobby (used occasionally). Keep in mind that Canon offers 1 Year Limited warranty for their products.
All is good until I get to the step after Built-in flash settings, the next screen doesn't show "easywireless" option? . Only choice is shutter sync. 1st curtain.
Hi! I just bought 3 of these flashes. How can I stop the Slave to not fire? Some times I want fire just one of them from the master, is it possible? I can not find this function.
Hi Ivan, If you are setting the 430 EX III RT to slave mode you have 5 different groups to choose from. You have groups a,b,c,d,e. You will have to set each remote flash to a different group (not channel). Once you do that, you could control each flash from the master, so if you have one flash set to a, one on b, and one on c, you could deactivate b and c to change the group when the flash is set to remote press the SEL/Set button and highlight the letter on the screen and you will be able to scroll through the different groups.
Hi Ivan, my knowledge on that brand of flash is pretty limited, but I did hear complaints that they do not communicate well together. Perhaps you can try asking the manufacturer. Take care. - Izzy
@@paulheathcote1974 The flash will fire slower when the shutter speed is slower, just change the shutter speed to go back to standard shooting settings.
Hello, lachlan harrison. You have a couple options if you want to control this flash off-camera without a flash on-camera effecting the overall exposure. You would need to purchase with either an additional 430EX III RT or the ST-E3 RT remote trigger. Since the latter is just a trigger you don't need to worry about a flash firing from the camera. If you go with an additional 430EX III RT, you would need to activate it as a wireless commander and deactivate the flash from firing using the menu option. Thanks for watching!
There are a couple of options. If want to operate the flash wirelessly with TTL you could (1) purchase the ST-E3 RT radio remote trigger from canon. (2) Purchase Altura Photo APC-958x Flash, this flash will allow you to trigger the 430 ex iii rt wirelessly via the optical system. (3) for non-TTL there is the Altura Photo wireless flash transmitter receiver kit.
Hi Nick! You need to replace batteries when the "low battery" icon shows on the LCD screen or when the LCD panel display turns off during recycling. Always make sure to use a new set of four batteries of the same brand, replace all four at the same time.
you're answer very soon :D. Thanks Digital Goja. I just got my 430EX III on today, so I didn't know how to check battery, on LCD it isn't show the percents of battery. I bought on amazon, but why in my box have no the Warranty Card and CD?
Unfortunately it doesn't show the battery percentage on the LCD. If the flash was purchased from us, please send us your order details to info@gojasales.com and we will be more than happy to assist you. If it was purchased from another seller, we would recommend contacting it to receive the warranty card and CD of your flash. Make sure to purchase your Canon products from Authorized Canon Dealers.
PLEASE be HONEST!!! There is NO remote Flash control. Its an OPTICAL slave, nothing else!!! I use a Canon 77D and a Seedlite 430EX III-RT and, I hate to say that but... After using canon for about a year, I realized that Canon is realy Krippeling there Camera gear. There would be the great opportunity to controll the flash with the Built in 2.4Ghz conection. but they don´t. I guess so they can sell there crayzily overpized Flash Controler... Well. Next time I´m not getting Canon.
You must not know much about this flash to have said those comments. This as well as the ATG Gold, Canon 600EX-RT & Canon 600EX II-RT have dual wireless modes. 1. ATG ETTLII/M 2.4GHz in Master or Slave. 2. Wireless IR ETTL II/M in Master or Slave. 3. All Canon including all other camera brands do not have ATG 2.4GHz built-in Try buying another one of flashes mentioned then come back and reply that you were wrong. Then park either one on your EOS-77D's hotshoe... but then you may complain that you don't know how to set them up to work...You wouldn't be the only one not knowing.

Would this external flash work well on a 5D mk iii?
Yes it would!
Digital Goja ty
That would have been MUCH more useful if you could have seen the screen when you were showing the settings.
Thank you for the feedback!
Can a 270EX II trigger 430EXIII RT?
Hi, it can in slave mode if one flash is off-camera.
can the speedlite work with a canon 300d?
It sure does! You can get it at our Amazon store: a.co/1XTmnq5
how to over come the sun with this flash !
how can i trigger this wirelessly from a canon 5d mk iv?
There are a couple of options. If want to operate the flash wirelessly with TTL you could (1) purchase the ST-E3 RT radio remote trigger from canon. (2) Purchase Altura Photo APC-958x Flash, this flash will allow you to trigger the 430 ex iii rt wirelessly via the optical system. (3) for non-TTL there is the Altura Photo wireless flash transmitter receiver kit.
is it compatible with Yongnuo 600ex units?
Hi Patrick! We are not familiar with that brand of flashes, we recommend getting in touch with the manufacturer for further assistance.
How can I check Battery Info?
So How can I know my 4 batteries is out of power?
Pls....
Try reviewing your orders on your Amazon profile and find the option "Contact Seller".
автору спасибо большое )
Can I buy this flashlight for canon EOS 1300D.
Hi Muhammed! Unfortunately this flash it is not compatible with the Canon T6/1300D, but this flash from Altura Photo is: a.co/345lD2C
Get yours on Amazon: amzn.to/1OnJ6bj
No external battery pack, to save money. LOL could have fooled me.
I can't close that damn text box, put it somewhere else please.
Hi Alexandre! Sorry about that! We already fix it. :)
3. All Canon including all other camera brands do not have ATG 2.4GHz built-in
Try buying another one of flashes mentioned then come back and reply that you were wrong.
Then park either one on your EOS-77D's hotshoe... but then you may complain that you don't know how to set them up to work...You wouldn't be the only one not knowing.
