I litterarly bought the xt3 as soon as the xt4 came out because it was at such a good price, its the kind of camera that reignited my love for street photography and video.

Thanks for the video and the Skill Share link. Just switched to X-T3 from X-T20 this week, and glad to have confirmation of my choice. So far so good! Keep up the videos. I enjoy them!
I couldn't agree more with your statement starting at 9:40. I too have grown out of love with the X-Trans technology. Back in the early days I LOVED the X-Trans (16 and 24mp versions) and how it rendered images, but now it has become more a frustration in post for general work where I don't need that classic fine artistic look. Being that I am also an ex Nikon shooter and still have a bunch of F glass, the Z system has my deep interest for many reasons, most notably the constant ergo's across all models, IBIS and a workhorse bayer BSI FF sensor that would give my old Nikkor glass new life. I love Fujifilm and what it gave me but Im at the point where practicality and consistency is important.

problemat1que yep, 23mm is a very good all round lens, at least to me. Dedicated portrait or telephoto is of course something else. But you can take a landscape or a portrait and it will make a decent job of either.
Over the last year I've used a lot of different cameras made by different companies (Canon, Olympus, Panasonic, Leica). Every time I pick up the XT3 I'm reminded of just how solid a performer it is and how when the results of shooting *really* matter, I will choose it every time. 0 regrets about buying this camera, other than by owning it already I miss out on the great deals on it now. :)
This is the first time in the years of following your channel (very nice one BTW) that I’m not notified by e-mail that you uploaded a new video. On a separate note, I recently upgraded from the X-T2 to the X-T4 (big difference). Stay safe.
6:14 OMG! What a weird experience - I’m just sitting here, minding my own business watching the latest Andrew & Denae video, when “OMG IT’S MY CAT!” Showed it to my wife; “Why is our bedroom in this TH-cam video????” 🤣 That’s my thread/my video screen grabs you’re scrolling through for the flashing green EVF section - I feel famous! haha. For the record, after talking to Fujifilm, they recommended I return that camera, which I did. The green flickers and stuttering EVF happened all the time on that body. It was really annoying. The vendor was having sourcing issues and couldn’t give me another, so I was X-T3-less for a while, though I eventually decided to give it another shot, and purchased another X-T3 earlier this year. I’ve only had the green flash happen a few times on this one, so there was definitely something up with that particular body that made it occur more frequently. Watching this video now as I haven’t been 100% happy with the X-T3 lately, and considering jumping (back) to a Z6, but can’t decide what to do. I think it’s the lenses I haven’t been happy with more than the camera, but I can’t quite seem to find the setup that works quite right for me. Fuji has amazing/fun primes, but most of my photography lately is travel, and I don’t always have the time to swap lenses around all the time, and I don’t really get along with Fuji’s zooms, apart from the 50-140mm. Nikon has the awesome 300mm PF, which is really great for having a lot of reach while hiking, and something no one else really offers at the moment, and the 24-70mm ‘kit lens’ that was sharper than all of the 16-55mm’s I’ve personally had my hands on, but doesn’t really have anything compelling for hikeable telephoto in between. Oh well, the search for the elusive perfect kit continues! Thanks for the video, as usual. :)
🤣 🤣 That's awesome! It's the only example I could find anywhere on the green flicker!!! And I can't duplicate it because it happens so rarely. So THANK YOU for posting that.
Great video. An honest assessment of this fantastic camera. Only sheer willpower and the knowledge that I am planning to buy a house in the next 6 months has stopped me from pulling the trigger on this bad boy!
I work in a camera store and although some eye AF systems work better than others. I’ve not found any that are totally reliable and all tend to marginally miss focus.
I have the original XT-1 and I'm due to update. In serious doubt between X-T3 and X-T4. I understood it's exactly the same sensor etc. but what really bothered me with the XT-1 is battery life, continuously carrying three additional batteries. I read/heard that the X-T3 still uses that same battery, but the X-T4 has more battery capacity. So I'm leaning towards the X-T4, even though it's 500-600 euro more expensive.
I love your reviews. The great thing about the x-trans sensor is the JPEG files. You can even pull back the highlights. Can’t do this with Nikon or Canon JPEGS. I am a wedding reportage photographer and just use Fuji JPEGs. I no longer spend ages at a computer editing RAW files. I’ve just bought a Leica Q2. The JPEG’s are nowhere near as versatile as x-trans JPEGS. Indeed, the Leica Raw files cannot pull detail out of overexposed highlights. X-trans JPEGs is the way to go to free up precious time. IMO
Great video. I really love your content and the way you give honest and unbiased opinions as working photographers. Having been a professional photographer for over 30 years and moving from Nikon D800’s (full frame) to X-T2 3 years ago and just this month upgraded to X-T3... I know, I didn’t get the X-T4!!! It has been an absolute pleasure to work with. I have never felt that I was missing out and truly do not understand any hate for APSC sensors. In my line of work I haven’t noticed any issues... With one caveat, the out of focus areas generated from the sensor can often create some truly mad looking backgrounds... weird, swirly areas, most noticeable when using longer lenses. For me this is it’s biggest problem. I really notice them, however, in all the 3 years I have shot with Fuji I have never, not once, had a client, designers, creative directors or web builders ever mention it! I love this system and I can’t see a future when I would consider changing.
It's a classic. Just yesterday thought to myself when holding my xt3 in the hands: Will I be able to use it for the rest of my life? Should I buy a handful of additional ones so I will always have one available?
This might be a year of hype camera releases but the sales on cameras like the XT-3 are awesome, especially during the economic downturn. As someone who bought the XH-1 on sale the XT-3 looks to be even better value.
Shortly after the release of the x100v and a few weeks before the release of the xt4. I picked up a minty Xt3 with only 400 shots on it. With the Fuji battery grip, xf 23mm lens, and a Kirk L bracket. With extra batteries, and original boxes and all that for just under $1200.00. I really wanted the x100v. But for me the Xt3 package was to good to pass up. And the Xt3 is a more versatile camera. Sure the x100v is a nice sexy little camera. But shooting a bit of macro, and landscape. I needed something that could do both. 100% happy with the xt3
When I dove into FUJIFILM system this past year. I almost ended up with the XT3 (LOVE the design and specs!!!)... but there were 3 things that stopped me. 1.) the lack of IBIS (don't want to carry a gimbal everywhere) I know I can record in slow-motion to stabilize the footage, but I can't shoot everything in slow-mo. Besides, I'm coming from a Sony a7s that doesn't have IBIS either, and you won't believe how much DATA I have thrown away do to shaky footage (shaky stills as well!). 2.) That GRIP (or Lack of). Not a comfortable camera to hold when bigger lenses are mounted. I want my grip to do 1 hand shooting and when shooting in selfie mode. 3.) 10 Bit files are too HUGE and heavy to work with the current mac system that I have now. If I got the XT3, I would have had to invest in Storage and Upgraded my mac! So, I ended up getting the X-H1 (for $300 less= got a couple of lenses with that savings). Better built, IBIS, Grip gives confidence I won't drop it when shooting 1 handed, and the small 8 bit files are still good enough for me ;) Thanks guys for sharing such a nice video! I'll be sure to take a look at the video comparing the sensor tech you mentioned at the end! CHEERS!
My X-T3 is beloved. I shoot video and photography, so I my biggest early gripe was the lack of a flip screen. However, I’ve come to appreciate the benefits of the X-T3’s screen and am now hesitant to give it up.
X-T30, the X-T3’s little brother, certainly is a great dollar-for-dollar great value as well. It’s small size and having many of the X-T3’s features are worth consideration.
I was able to pick a Fuji x-t3 virtually brand new with the 18-55 kit lens, case, 2 batteries and fringer pro ii adapter and camera bag for 900. Checked the shutter count ... 54
Thanks for another excellent video. I am a hobbies and will be changing from a very small Lumix GM5 to Fuji & would you input. I enjoy taking taking my camera everywhere I go. From your perspective, do you enjoy taking the XT3 or XT4 with you for personal activities or do you take the smaller XT30? Thanks in advance. Stay healthy.
My first Fuji camera was XT30. It works very well but i hate the ergonomic and also it doesnt have tethering shoot capability so i cant view captured image instantly on laptop display. Then i bought a used XT1 with superb condition just like i got brand new in box. Its 16MP sensor is phenomenal. The old XT1 gives me better color than XT30. Then i sold my XT30 a couple months ago and will get XT3 for ergonomic & video capability.
As always, a good watch. Any reason why you don't list the gear you use in the description? I am particularly interested in the tripod in the first min (27secs in). Thanks
A fantastic deal, to be sure. If you need IBIS, more battery life, and greater separation between photo and video modes, then the X-T4 will be your better bet.
Thank you for your videos and all the work you put in them. A question - I own a X-H1 and X-T20 that I love but for event and portrait work the eye auto-focus is not that great. How much better is the eye auto-focus on the X-T3?
Bought my X-T3 in the sale as I wanted a lighter camera to travel and shoot sports with ( then the virus hit lol ) I absolutely love the camera, the only issue I have with it is the very poor battery life compared to my Nikon D500, but I can live with that and I will not be upgrading to the X-T4
I am currently cross shopping the xt3 and xpro3. I shoot mostly street with some landscape work occasionally. I am tempted by the xt3’s price point as it allows me to pocket more money to add to my Fuji lens collection. However, I am intrigued by the hybrid view finder. I currently use a XE3 which is a small beast. Thoughts?
I feel the OVF is a novelty, at best. There are very few times where it's actually helpful. I had fun using it for awhile, but eventually I had to "get back to work" and not be limited by it.
@@AndrewGoodCamera Thanks for the reply. I agree, and think that the xt3 should be the upgrade path for more. Plus, it gives me a chance to get glass which is way more important for image quality anyway.
This video makes me sad I sold my X-T3 to downgrade to a X-T2 to save a few hundred bucks, because I thought it was too much camera for my casual needs. I should have challenged myself to grow into the camera instead. Great video! I'm still torn between the X-T3 or the new X-S10 (as a hybrid shooter myself)
@@AndrewGoodCamera Well we do a lot of run and gun, but that's not what I'm looking for right now. I want something for about 80% photography, with a mix of street, landscape, and some candid snapshots. I don't want to shoot raw, I have enough workload as it is. I have 3 Nikon's that I love, just not for jpeg's, plus the size and weight. We use a Canon M50 for video, not crazy about the stills. Right now I use my Olympus Em5 m2 for the snapshots and street photography, with a little video use. I'm not sure if I want to invest in m43 glass, and I don't like adapters. Dang I just realized how picky I sound hahaha. Thanks for any suggestions.
@@AndrewGoodCamera that will be May 2022 but I know I'll still keep Fuji. There is a love for Fuji that goes beyond specs. Also I think the XT5 will be out by then addressing all minor issues
Been watching your videos since modern artist day and I can proudly say, this is my first week of being a fuji shooter. The deal on the xt3 is mind blowing. I cant believe it's only 1000 dollar new.
Wow! Haha. You sir, get the award of the channel's beat friend. I had almost forgot about "modern artist" and the fact that you don't shoot Fuji!? Amazing!
@@AndrewGoodCamera just a long time fan of the channel! Probably your first xt2 video in the abandoned school was the first time I hear about fuji cameras and I've wanted one ever since.
@@AndrewGoodCamera Thank you! That is one sexy lenshood :-) By the way I loved this co-production vibe of hearing both of your voices. Thanks for the video and for being honest! By the way I was also curious about the lack of durability since i invested i Fuji too now with the X-T30 and X100V, so specific examples are valuable. Having said that I don't expect you to go and tell me all about that in a comment - I should just do my homework and watch more videos :-) Still, know that it's a valuable topic to us Fuji shooters. Oh and now that I'm rambling anyway, I'm also always curious why other pro's shoot the X-T3 instead of the X-T30. I love the compact size and I don't shoot weddings so two card slots don't seem that important to me. But I've never had card failure so I'm still blissfully ignorant on that side :P Thanks for all your videos, warm regards and take care. And don't feel like you have to reply to this, I'm just sharing these things so that if anything resonates you can incorporate it in future videos - or not.
I love your practical and honest videos. I have terrible FOMO and will be going to Europe for a two week trip. I need to pack light, and I'm wondering what lens/lenses would you think to bring for an x-t30? I own the 18-55, the 50-140, and the 12mm Samyang. I'm not bringing the 50-140 as it's way too heavy but I also don't want to miss a longer reach. Do I get the 16-80 and bring just the 1 lens? Do I get the 55-200 and bring 3 lenses? Should I forget a long range lens altogether? Any advice is appreciated!
Ah, the classic "which lens to pack" dilemma. In my experience, you take home more keepers by focusing on a focal range than you do if you try to have coverage for every possible scenario. limiting yourself actually frees your mind by enabling it to let go of the overwhelming nature of absolutely everything, and you end up noticing far more. Since you can't take the wide or narrow telephoto shot, you simply let go of it, and that's fine. What I usually so is stick a prime or in rare occasions where I also need to do video, a zoom with OIS and keep that on my camera 90% of the time. Then I keep something on the other extreme end on in bag in case there is absolutely something I MUST take at the other extreme. But I find often I just never take that other lens out to use. But it is comforting to know it's there.
Great video. I like how you guys give honest thoughts. I'm trying to upgrade my kit, and the Fuji has definitely been one of my considerations. Sadly it doesn't quite fit my needs. I honestly wish Fuji had third party lens support, or at least developed some interesting competitors to popular lenses like the Sigma f/1.8 zooms. If Fuji ever comes up with a native 18-35 range with f/1.8, I would be totally sold. That and the potential overheating in 4K. I haven't seen any full comprehensive tests so I've no idea if it's a legit issue or not.
No.. it did seem to improve after the first or second firmware release I noticed. Before that the green flicker would last longer and it actually was more invasive. but the last time I did a serious look to try to figure out the problem was and if others have had it as well I came up without a lot of information. But that's been a while. I should probably do some more digging
I'm ordering mine today! Do you think the xt3 with the battery grip and the 16mm F1.4 is too heavy as a everyday setup? I bought the 16mm 1.4 after watching your videos by the way!
Andrew & Denae no worries thank you for your videos! It's been super helpful in justifying the upgrade / switch from micro four thirds. Really appreciate your work!
Excellent video. I love my x-t3, but I feel you should have pointed out three pretty big problems in video mode: 1) auto-focus is certainly not great. (it's okay, but nothing like Sony or Canon) 2) exposure stepping is really distracting. 3) there's no IBIS
I spoke to the frustrations with video settings a lot in my six things I don't like about Fuji video a couple weeks back. this is a bigger problem than just the xt3 or I would have spoken to it more here. But I agree it's a big problem As far as Ibis I actually see very little advantage in video with it. Most of the time Ibis is worse than without it and I tried to use other stabilization methods. But for photo it can be great.
The X-T3 might go down in history as a timeless classic.

And its got the body to match
The latest firmware update has only strengthened the story...

Bought one when it launched. Still love it and don't plan on getting anything else anytime soon
Just bought one last month! Your video did help convince me! Thanks for all that you do!
Great video. An honest assessment of this fantastic camera. Only sheer willpower and the knowledge that I am planning to buy a house in the next 6 months has stopped me from pulling the trigger on this bad boy!
That is discipline!
I work in a camera store and although some eye AF systems work better than others. I’ve not found any that are totally reliable and all tend to marginally miss focus.
I ❤️ my X-T3. And I credit you for buying it one year ago.
No reveals, no deal breakers, just an honest declaration of love to the X-T3. So uplifting in between all that bashing going on other YT channels !
For anyone connected with the military, you can get this through the exchange for $899 buddy only, or $1299 with the kit lens.
Edit: body not buddy
K Roberts same if you’re a student @b&h 🔥
Kit lens goes for $300 to $350 almost new (people selling their kit or upgrading), so worth considering body only and getting the lens separately.
Getting used on ebay for about 700 if you’re lucky
But the camera really does become your buddy in the end, so no worries lol.
Loving my first Fuji! X100v is awesome with amazing film sims.
This is lovely!! I'm still in love with my XT2 which I've had since 2017. :)
10:50 left hand under the barrel of the lens would give you a much better support. Thanks for pointing out the video mode switching inconvenience.
I came here to see the xt3 but what is that at 2:35?
Given the price difference right now, is the X-T2 a good move? Not sure I can afford the X-T3 and glass.
“Pros must use full frame”...10 years ago, sure! Today, no.
says a crop user
The North I own 2 crop, 1 full frame. Also, to put my d**k on the table, I own a medium film. 🤣🤣🤣
Right! I went from full-frame to the XT3. I have a Sony A7III and an a6000 as bookends now. I use my Nikon D750/D610 as a back-up to the XT3.
@@thenorth9159 says the makers of the video you're spending time commenting on
The XT-3 is an amazing camera indeed! I’m patiently waiting for it to go on sale again to pick it up.
Thanks for this and all of the other reviews picked up a new X-T3 today !
Nice!
Just picked up the X-T3 and 16mm F/1.4 thanks to the deals
Favorite combo!
Got one recently now i have T2 and T3 :) T3 huge difference in autofocus and video side.
Better built, IBIS, Grip gives confidence I won't drop it when shooting 1 handed, and the small 8 bit files are still good enough for me ;)
Thanks guys for sharing such a nice video!
I'll be sure to take a look at the video comparing the sensor tech you mentioned at the end! CHEERS!
my head/wallet says xt3 but my heart says xpro3.
My X-T3 is beloved. I shoot video and photography, so I my biggest early gripe was the lack of a flip screen. However, I’ve come to appreciate the benefits of the X-T3’s screen and am now hesitant to give it up.
Great video! Love the XT3, it really inspires you to shoot more!
Thanks, that's the video I've been looking for ;)
This is the best camera to pick up right now...fuji color is amazing
I agree. I love my XT3
X-T30, the X-T3’s little brother, certainly is a great dollar-for-dollar great value as well. It’s small size and having many of the X-T3’s features are worth consideration.
Completely agree. I just bought one.
I just bought one earlier this week and I am waiting for it to come in the mail
how do you like it ?
@@nastynate838 it is a fantastic battery draining beast
It's a beast camera.. I love it. I use it for street but I just started light painting.
Love my XT-3! Eyeing the XT-4 as I get into more video though.
Wonderful! I've just bought mine two days ago! 😁👍
As always, a good watch. Any reason why you don't list the gear you use in the description? I am particularly interested in the tripod in the first min (27secs in). Thanks
That's a Benro tripod with a UniqBal head.
@@AndrewGoodCamera Thank you!!
I was debating upgrading my xt1 to either a light kit like a x100v or an xpro3. That massive rebate on the xt3 made it a no brainer.
Great video, I would be tempted to throw on a Tiffen Pro Mist 1/4 and see how it works with the film simulation. It could be a beautiful combination.
A fantastic deal, to be sure. If you need IBIS, more battery life, and greater separation between photo and video modes, then the X-T4 will be your better bet.
I love my X-T3 and also my two X-T1 's and never will sell those!!
Thanks, I’m getting one.
Hello, I am a beginer and want a camera for landscape and night photography. Would you recomand me the Fuji xt 30 or the sony a6400?
I'm stuck between the xt3 and a6400...
I think the best value right now might be one of the last X-T20s that are being sold. Such a great little camera that’s going for next to nothing now.
I enjoyed this video thoroughly. If you had the money for this camera, and just one lens, what lens would you pick? Thank you.
Tell me more about what and how you shoot, as well as budget, and I'd be happy to provide a recommendation.
@@AndrewGoodCamera Shoot I forgot budget. Well I guess it would depend on if it were a good deal or regular price. Let's just say $1800 total budget.
Based on those needs? I'd say you need a zoom. I'd go with the 16-55 2.8, unless you want OIS, in which case the 16-80 F4.
Still looking to get the XT3 as a second body to my XT4
You gonna move to the A7siii though?
What's the slowest shutter speed hand held you have been shooting? Only for stills, is it just fine enough to buy( not upgrade) xt3 compare to xt4?
I just picked up my second X-T3 because of the sale! 😍
Also, I get that rare green “flicker” sometimes too, it doesn’t go away unless I restart my camera 🤷🏽♂️ (happened only about 3-4 times in 8 months)
For switcher, you think this is still a good choice? I will only be using it mainly for photography and may do video from time to time.
I'm very curious what that lens and lenshood are on the right at 0:50. Anyone?
Zeiss 12mm 2.8 I believe
The green flicker is the only issue I’ve had with the camera as well. Any ideas of what causes it?
No.. it did seem to improve after the first or second firmware release I noticed.
We've never used the battery grip, so I'm not sure. Sorry.
Andrew & Denae no worries thank you for your videos! It's been super helpful in justifying the upgrade / switch from micro four thirds. Really appreciate your work!
This camera or the new xs10 for photography?
Superb camera.
Excellent video.
I love my x-t3, but I feel you should have pointed out three pretty big problems in video mode:
1) auto-focus is certainly not great. (it's okay, but nothing like Sony or Canon)
2) exposure stepping is really distracting.
3) there's no IBIS
I spoke to the frustrations with video settings a lot in my six things I don't like about Fuji video a couple weeks back. this is a bigger problem than just the xt3 or I would have spoken to it more here. But I agree it's a big problem
As far as Ibis I actually see very little advantage in video with it. Most of the time Ibis is worse than without it and I tried to use other stabilization methods. But for photo it can be great.
