Man, I'm an architecture graduate and I don't know why I clicked on this. I just stayed because you are fun to listen to and extremely an astounding professor/doctor. Your lecture is easy to understand. I should be sleeping. It's 1:40 am here. Haha
I’ve been taking high dose aspirin up to 5 grams daily for 1,5 year. I only have had nose bleeds when picking my nose but I had that as often as now before aspirin.
my dad is taking aspirin for MI and stroke prophylaxis and takes ibuprofen for pain. I know increased risk of peptic ulcer disease (he is also on other 18 meds. he gets upset stomach and takes gas-x frequently), renal toxicity. However, he is not going to listen to me because he has so much pain. And he does not care about "small things" like these. And he would say "I have been taking them for years......" I agree with you. Life is all trade-offs.
@@MedicosisPerfectionalis Thank you so much. no s/s of bleeding or anemia. I figured this combination might become a problem long-term. I send him for regular labs including CBC every couple of months. everything was within normal range in last lab. I requested an upper GI through his primary (too many medications. I feel the primary is already overwhelmed. I monitor his blood sugar, blood pressure, pain level from lumbar and cervical intravertebral disc herniation every day. since he takes so many meds, it is hard to avoid all the drug to drug interaction and adverse effect). Of course, he refuses to have a lower GI. He is at least going to have his esophagus and stomach checked. Also has problem swallowing. Considering long-term aspirin in take, hiatal herniation and gastric reflux hx, an endoscopy is very necessary. A very stubborn elderly gentleman, who does not listen.
If someone gets a tightness/ache in the middle of their chest after taking aspirin, but does not have trouble breathing, is that an allergy or just an adverse side effect? Thx
