Really useful video. Thanks. By the way it looked like you were using quite a big battery pack. I found that my solar panel simply wouldn’t charge a 20,000 mAh battery, but was fine with a 10,000 mAh one. When I was hiking in Sweden a couple of years ago, I found I could charge 10,000 mAh in about a day with the solar panel strapped to my backpack while I was walking. So the reason for your problem might just be that your battery was too big. Also I found having a small ammeter attached while charging really helped so you could see what was going on.
Yeah great point. I did some tests afterwards and found that my smaller battery pack did indeed get a meaningful charge, but still too little on cloudy days.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have walked on parts of beautiful La Gomera but not the complete GR131/2. You captured the stunning scenery.very well.
Thanks a lot for this informative and a very interesting video! I'm planning to do the same loop and find your hint extremely useful! Cheers from a fellow Belgian. :)
Thanks again, I hope to see more videos in the future . We have Decathlon in Tenerife ,its fantastic but I have to be careful I just want to buy everything ! Fill that basket, you know what I mean.
A lot of great information, thank you! This was totally the video I needed. I‘m trying to make a similar tour and combine these two routes too in two weeks.
Great info, thanks for sharing your experience. In march I'll go hiking there as well. Would you suggest to hike the southern, or northern part of the island like you did? Also, could you share where you bought your gas cartridge? (pierceable and 190 g)
I never hiked the full southern trail, but keep in mind that the south is very arid. On the other hand, the northern part has that long stretch with little to no water supplies. No right or wrong here! For the gas, I got mine in a ferreterria (hardware store) in Los Christianos on Tenerife.
Hello Lennart ! Last minute problem encountered before departure , maybe you can tell me? how did you do for the the gaz (bonbonne). I just realised that it is not allowed to take my jetboil in the plane...🙄
I did mention it in the video though. 😄 You can get gas canisters in every hardware store (ferreteria) or Decathlon for example. I got mine in Los Christianos.
Thanks for the vid! Good that you eat vegetarian/vegan, I do too, already for 25+ years, and my health is excellent. A doctor recommended me a few years ago to go for top-sports after an examination due to my exceptionally good physical condition. (They did VO2 max intensity tests, blood tests etc.) Comes in very handy on my cycling and hiking trips... ;-)
Hey there Will do this tour in beginning of january 22 Would you recommend hiking sticks? I live in the alps and never use them, so I think it will be fine... I usualy go in my running shoes in summer, is the terrain fine or a light hiking shoes like yours better? Thanks
If you're used to hike without sticks, you won't need them there. For shoes, any kind of trail running shoe should be fine. You'll need some grip on your soles though. Have fun!
Hi lennart Great video I'm doing the walk next month and I'm vegan. But I don't want to have to carry all my food with me from the UK.do you think there is enough places to buy vegan food on the trail as you go? I am guessing options would be limited. Thanks
Hi Douglas. Bars and restaurants will probably be tricky for vegans. With some careful planning you can stock up in small supermarkets, but don't expect the same range of products like at home.
Hi Lennart, many thanks for such detailed description of this GR. Can you remind me to which period of the year your trek is reported? Further, where did u bought the gas canister (Tenerife main island or La Gomera)? Best
@@LennartSchoors Do you remember/know the name of the store you bought the gas canister? Which type do you use for your cooking gear - screw on top EN417 standard?
Hi. I just returned from La Gomera and Tenerife. Very nice hiking!!! Just to answer my own question in case someone finds this useful - there is a Chinese shop 'Mas articulos mejor precio' in Los Christianos where they sell absolutely everything, including gas canisters. It is on this address '38650 Los Cristianos, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain' on google maps.
I had my phone on airplane mode quite a lot to conserve battery, so I'm not really sure. There's many villages throughout the island, but I wouldn't count on great coverage everywhere.
Good with detail information!
Envy you mate. Great informative video.
Cheers!

Hi there
Where did you find a gas bottle in Tenerife ?
Thanks
You can get gas canisters in every hardware store (ferreteria) or Decathlon for example. I got mine in Los Christianos.

@@LennartSchoors Thanks again Lennart 👍🏻 !
I really like your videos thanks. Really helpful. Please, do you need cash for villages or do they take cards? Silly question maybe.
As far as I remember, they all took cards, but I would still take a little cash, just in case.
@@LennartSchoors thank you!
Thanks for recording this! Planning to hike the GR132 in January 😄
Most nervous about the water situation and daily elevation. Curious how it goes!
Don't be nervous, just prepared. 😄 Good luck!

did u encounter any wild animals at night? keep up the beautiful work. calm and very mind relaxing.
Other than some sheep and goats, no. Nothing to worry about.
Where is put the tent near vallehermoso?
I don't remember, and I didn't record the hike, sorry!
Thanks for the video. Very useful and informative. Where did you buy the gas cannisters for your JetBoil when you arrived?
If I recall correctly it was here: g.page/Ferreteriasalayon?share
Merci! interessante info!
De winkels waar je gas kunt kopen, zijn die open zondags ? zou deze hike in mei al te warm zijn of nog te doen ?

Your videos are enjoyable to watch, almost a meditation. Merci beaucoup. Out of curiosity: which video editing tool are you using?
Thanks. I use FInal Cut Pro.
Did you ever have windy rain?
A bit of wind, but not a single drop of rain.

Jazeker :)
Fijn dat je ook over het materiaal praat blijven doen zou ik zeggen :)
