That moment when you point out Catherine the Great in the Romanovs book and you sigh--I totally relate! I am like that with English History, particularly Medieval times and Elizabeth I, and English medieval literature. I read a book called "The Plantaganets" by Dan Jones that did a good job with the narrative and presenting the facts, etc, in an exciting way. I am definitely interested in hearing what you think about your Romanovs book and hear if it was everything you hoped it would be!
They sell those editions of Harry Potter in Canada too :) I got mine last year for Christmas and absolutely adore how lovely they look on my bookshelf!

The Harry Potter books are available in Canada, I'm fairly sure you can order them from Indigo.ca and have them shift to the U.S. these editions are really not expensive, they don't go over 16 CAD for the bigger books!

If you end up liking the Margaret Atwood book I really recommend Oryx and Crake by her as well. I read it for one of my English classes and it was both really intriguing and entertaining
Simon Sebag Montefiore also wrote two excellent biographies of Joseph Stalin, titled "Young Stalin" and Stalin: Court of the Red Tsar". I read a lot of books about the Soviet Union a few years back, and those were two of the best. I may have to check out the one you hauled in this video.

Maas, Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, Ninth Nightmare, The (A Night Warriors Horror) by Graham Masterton and that gorgeous illustrated Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: The Illustrated Edition (Harry Potter, Book 2)... small but good haul.

This book is jammed with fascinating information about Mary Wollstonecraft and her daughter Mary Shelley, that reads like a novel.
I recently picked up three different books as a short list (gotta have options) for "a book with literary merit" independent novel assignment in my Socratic seminar section. Those being The Secret History by Donna Tart, Catch-22 by Joseph Heller, and On Writing by Stephen King.
Montefiore´s writing is very good and the book is solid, but he does have his biases towards historical personas and often includes things which are gossipy. Still happy to see others reading some non-fiction about the Romanovs! :)

I love stories about the Ztsars. I'm curious have you read the book 'The Romanov Prophecy' by Steve Berry? If not I'll highly recommend it, it's super action packed, and mixes facts and fiction in regards to the Romanovs and all the conspiracy theories that were about Rasputin, Anastasia and Nicolai. That book surprised me so much.
I never read anything by him, but I heard that Simon Sebag Montefiore is wonderful. And I loved The Book of Speculation (going to have a review on it on my channel, stay tuned :) ).
I'm actually currently listening to Montefiore's Romanovs on audio book. I really like his style and his other book Young Stalin is one of my favorite nonfiction books. So far I'm really enjoying Romanovs but there's a heavy focus on the end of the dynasty and the revolution which makes sense considering his other books focus on that time period but he spends a lot more time on that era than the earlier tsars and the set up of the dynasty which disappointed me. Anyway, hope you enjoy the book whenever you pick it up!

One of the things that really bothered me in EOS was how similar Rowan was to Tamlin and how they act. The only difference was how to protagonist saw them. Just some food for thought.

As someone who LOVES Norse mythos, I have some issues with HoT. Like how everyone including a god says they aren't gods. :/ But at least he had Sigyn in there and didn't kill her off right away or make her into an uber Disney princess.
I liked The Book of Speculation until the end which was a little meh to me but I overall did really like it and I think it's a book that more people should read.
If you want to read a book with circus mermaids (and where some of the main characters are poc ) check out The Weight of Feathers. Also are you excited about the Anastasia musical coming to Broadway??
Have you read Vengeance Road yet? It is really good and I think if you haven't you should. Also please read the Bloody Jake series by L.A. Meyer!!! It is a historical fiction series and I love them so much and nobody seems to have read them but me and I want more people to!!!
You should read The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood- it's a book written from Penelope's perspective of the odyssey, about her life as well as Odysseus- very clever, funny and a great read!

in our country we pretty much have most u.k covers so those harry potter books are all over....and they are 9$ in where i live....
