Your my hero. I've just rebuilt me 16v with a lot of help from your vids. Been having problems with the lack of power and poor acceleration. I brought the exact same distributor from eBay and checked it after watching this video and yes it has the same issues. Put the old original on I still had and now it fly's. Just need to get the fueling right now.
@@GreyGooseRestorations what's you thoughts on the control pressure, I know yours is set to about 40psi. I tried 3bar and factory 3.4 bar and it's a little flat down low then fly's after about 4000rpm. It has a set of Kent cams which changes power band to 3000-75000. Thanks
What cams are they? K-jetronic historically doesn't work well with high lift cams. Control pressure anywhere between 3 bar and stock will make a difference, if its flat etc then try ignition timing setting etc
I have followed you for a while and you obviously know what you are doing. I had exactly the same problem with an aftermarket kjet 8v dizzy. aftermarket one rubbish.
Got my 16v last summer. I bought a brand new one of these Mickey Mouse dizzy’s shortly after getting the car, trying to sort the misfire it had when I got it (having done plugs and leads). The dizzy already on the car was also a less-than-year-old one of the same so I wasn’t confident in the diagnosis but it was cheap enough to eliminate. Fitting the replacement made the misfire SO much worse-car became undriveable. Loads of internet searching led me to this video. Checked both dizzy’s I’d got and the were both wrong, as you suggested. Not having an original, I searched eBay and found a genuine, used Bosch for £130. Bought that, fitted, timed the ignition and car now runs perfectly. I kept the search active on eBay and subsequently bought another used Bosch dizzy for £80 which I’ve put in stock-I may never need it but these parts are only going to get harder to find. Thank you for taking the time to post this video.
At least for the older VW Rabbits or Golfs that use that Hall sending distributor there is a rebuilder in the USA called Cardone, they are $300.00 USA price but seems to be a good quality rebuild
the Cardone company I think is in Mexico in the USA, but I think for the older 8 valve, but Cardone might have the 16 valve distributors, they are Rebuilt
Unfortunately I can confirm. The cheap 50 euro new one, Chinese (JP g.), is shit! The engine didn't even stay on! I had to buy a good used original for 90 euros.
Incredible, you helping me find it on last part of pazl
Glad it helped 👍

Injectors balanced to 90ml after 40s

I was shocked how bad they were, i no cheap is cheap but the basic requirement for four equal sized windows should be paramount

Glad it helped, like you say used parts are hard to find so always worth having a spare
Good video! I too have found the exact same thing with aftermarket distributors as well!

Oké, I’m in to trying to fix my abf with fuel/ignition problems.. and i was thinking of a cheap part, but Will go for a more known brand now…🤞🏻👍🏻
Had same problem with an aftermarket dizzie, returned it to the shop as the car was driving so incredibly poor. They should just sell the body.
Thanks for the video, can you provide me with the full manufacturer manual for the 1.4L 8 valve ABD engine?

Hello, the distributor in question is a JP group??
I believe so, yes, but it/they have no brand markings, well the last few I've seen didn't
Crap, just purchased one, better check it’s okay.
