Thank for this excellent video. The original tourist section is fully open low, plus about a mile south of that cleared ror track cars and Robertsdale plus about 3/4 mile sound for speeder cars.
Thanks for your time and effort making this vid. It has provided me a first overview of EBT. I wonder if there is any chance that the line may be resurrected like the Welsh Highland Railway was.
Hello, Most of these photos were taken several years ago. I have heard a lot of changes going on since the EBT is no longer running. Unless someone just posted for hunting season? I can say over the past 20 years, I have walked almost the whole line, very neat.
Awesome video.....just an observation, at the 4:46 mark, what is that at the top of the tender? It looks like an apparition of a torso of an office clerk? I just thought that it was interesting looking. See what you think. I'm sure there are spirits on the East Broad Top. I wouldn't want to leave there either. Nice job!!
@indie1361: I quite agree! As a matter of fact, I just had an idea earlier today that might even make freight hauling on the EBT profitable again: Narrow-gauge Intermodal cars... They could use the timber transfer crane (or some replacement) at Mount union to shift containers from SG intermodal cars to the NG Intermodals and haul them down the line... Unfortunately, getting the rest of the line fixed up would cost a fortune...
@indie1361 Thanks for watching. You are like me, If I was a Millionaire, I would do the same thing with the E.B.T. A lot of railroad history in that area, over the past 20 years, I have now walked most of that line and photographed different areas. Thanks again.
@HikaroTakayama It would cost quite a bit of money, but they might be able to get some funding for infastructural repairs from the state, im sure there is a loophole in there somewhere. Intermodel Cars is a really good idea, im sure there are some people in the area who would prefer transloading than just shipping things in by truck. although, they do have a tunnel somewhere along the line, but who says the containers have to be double stacked?
Thank You. I also love the EBT and to hike the area. A lot of railroad history along that line, I just wished I lived a little closer to it. Thanks Again for watching.
I sure hope they get EBT up & running again. My parents are from the area, & I go back "home" every so often. It is so sad to see the shops and round house closed & no activity. :(
Abandoned railroads always make me sad. If I was a millionaire, I would spend my whole fortune on reopening the whole EBT line and restoring their engines.
I wan to win the lottery so sad to see this this way. However I think the ent could easily fix the track to Mr. Union because you can see the whole road bed from Google maps.
@steved0689 I took the time exposure shot, but was thinking of all the railroad men who worked on the EBT over the years and was hoping for a "ghost" shot. Im sure there are a lot of spirits around who will always be railroad men. Thank You for watching.
I hope the Aughwhick and Pogue bridges can be saved and of course Gray's Hill tunnel. With Wick Morman one of the investors they should be able to restore the whole line as he has hoards of money.
@psycotria Thank You for watching. I have been hearing "talk" of the line going back to Mount Union which would make a nice run for the railroad, but still not holding my breath. Thanks Again.
@indie1361 Well, thanks to the current tourist operation and the work the Mount Union Connecting Railroad had done over the past 10 years, all but 3 miles of the main line between Rockhill Furnace and Mt. Union are ready to go... But yeah, as I said, it would cost a fortune, but on the upside, they could borrow a page from the Kiski Junction Railroad (near Pittsburgh) and run mixed trains for tourists as well as tourist trains to Mt. Union, but that's probably just wishful thinking....

So well done! Absolutely great video!!!! I"d love to own this place.
This is one of those rare times when the music compliments the subject. It just kinda rolls right along. Toe tapping in the office right now , Nice.
Nice photo montage, thanks for sharing!

Very Nice...love the EBT. Ive been doing a then and now of ebt on my facebook page, nice to see someone has this on utube!
But that wasn't the end end of the railroad, was it ? Did it not terminate near Alva ? Amazing video content FIVE STARS

I dont think anyonebrealises how special this place is. I just found this it looks amazing
A non profit group of railroad professionals has purchased the railroad and plans to restore it to operation!

thats good that the rail is still there
Interesting, thanks for the posting, subscribed.
Very Nice!!
WOW! color photographs of 18 in operation. Never seen that before!
Same here.....I have not been back since last May when they said that they were not going to run. It sure is sad.

@WhyAyeMann Thank You. Got a lot of information and photos from visiting the E.B.T. over the years.
Great. 😺
This giant is awakening.
Same here....was over in late May, heard the "bad news" then.
The EBT just got their first steam engine back running, No. 16 rides again!
@alvintrain Thank You. Maybe see you along the E.B.T. line sometime.
Where did you get your "before" EBT pictures.
Thank You. I also love the EBT and to hike the area. A lot of railroad history along that line, I just wished I lived a little closer to it. Thanks Again for watching.
I hear they plan to repair and use the rest of the line to Mt Union. Also, do you know the status of 0-6-0 #3?
This is cool, I lives 15 minutes from the EBT
I sure hope they get EBT up & running again. My parents are from the area, & I go back "home" every so often. It is so sad to see the shops and round house closed & no activity. :(
what that song call?

I sure am going to miss the E.B.T., i hope they re-open in 2013, but i doubt it...
Still closed in 2019.
@@OldsVistaCruiser - open again and expanding south 2023.

@Fastsprinter87 Thank You.
It may be for hunting season. Thanks Again for watching. Maybe some day I will meet you walking along the old EBT line.
I hope the Aughwhick and Pogue bridges can be saved and of course Gray's Hill tunnel. With Wick Morman one of the investors they should be able to restore the whole line as he has hoards of money.

Sorry, I dont have anything of the Alvan area. Most of the photos were taken from several of my books and help from the Friends of the East Broad Top.
@beowulf3075 Thank You for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
how long is the line that is restored
5 miles. The whole mainline. Is about 30 and most of the track to mount union is still in place.
There reopening the railroad

All there but, LIVE steam :(
Is narrow gauge or standard gauge?🚂
Narrow gauge. 36 in or 3 feet. It is the oldest narrow gauge east of the Mississippi Ang the best preserved railroad in the country.
Thank You for watching.
@HikaroTakayama it could happen!
@psycotria with enough money anything is possible, the EBT needs the right rich guy to fund it.
why not relese the brakes on the hopper and go for a ride
*_MIGHT AS WELL NOW_*
I think I will!
This Soundtrack renews my dislike for the 12 string Guitar!!
