Except the fact that a career does not mean good money. It simply means a stable line of work. You can make a career off of working as a bartender and be paid not much more than minimum wage.
@@SiMeGamer The way I understood it is it's more a perspective on things rather than an objective value. Kinda like "I only got paid this much for all this effort vs. I got paid so much for barely any effort" Taking your bartender example it could be: Person A: "I have to keep the bar clean, keep track of customers, mix drinks properly and pay close attention to everything and only get paid barely over minimum wage. This sucks!" Person B: "I get to talk to many different people while I mix drinks and clean stuff? Wow, that's awesome!" Two different perspectives on the same position. For one it's a job, for another it's a career.
@@Madnacc I still wouldn't call that a career because nothing says this is the path one will choose to pursue regardless of the perspective. But it is a nice way to look at that bartender example. I appreciate that perspective :]

As far as Americans being accepting about weird hobbies it really depends on where you are especially back in 2007. If you're in a small town area you like anime back in 2007 you would get bullied.
It's a half and half. I've liked anime since 1st grade and shared it readily. Most people were interested. Occasionally some idiot would try to pick a fight, but belittling their intelligence was a go to. It only came to a fist fight, like, twice.

I really got into anime back in high school with the anime club we had. I just remember that club meeting during my freshman year were always what I looked forward to, and that was late 2008 to 2009. After the people I knew graduated, someone else took over and it wasn't as fun, so I just hung out with other people I knew.
Pre 2007 and in a smaller town omg I got so fucking bullied during my life about my nerd hobbies. The times just starting catching up with it by the time they’re talking about.
I find it very enlightening on how Aki broke down the harmful effects of cancel culture. The fact we are always being monitored and be judged on that moment even years down the line is unethical. People change and they deserve their redemption. Yes, people need to be held accountable, but not by the mob that changes their minds every next trend but with actual authorities. Props to her for maintaining boundaries as a TH-camr.
The hand shake part hurts me personally When I meet someone and they whip their hand out for a shake, I'm just like "Oh no this guy has superior communication skills! Must maintain eye contact! Must say something cool and casual!!!!" and I start panicking
The conversation about Aki being an introvert and the challenges of learning social skills was really relatable. I only really opened up to people in college, and even though I'm pretty okay at socializing now, it's sometimes quite emotionally draining. Also, I had no idea about Aki's real name until now! Agnes is a really cute name!
Soooo... can we still get a full female crew episode of trash taste with Aki, Syd and Meilyne? Edit: I think that would still count as a Trash Taste. Now all 3 was already on the podcast, and they are not unknown for most of the watchers.
Hearing how Joe and Aki story on how they first interacted reminded me on how Garnt and Sydney's first interacted and isn't it funny how both couples got together by coincidence
I like how Aki keeps it so real. She is not afraid to say what she really thinks, unlike so many other creators that just go with the online mob mentality to stay brand safe.
Aki is the definition of mob mentality. She always tweets about what's relevant that she barely or maybe even doesn't care about, and is just always clout chasing in general. Don't you think it's a bit odd that Joey's girlfriend took this long to be on the podcast while Sydney was on 5 months ago? Almost as if she waited for higher viewer retention because we all know she wasn't busy with her dying channel and god awful tweets.
@@An1mystics I have followed all of them on TH-cam and twitter (and twitch for the ones that use it) for a long time, considering I can only consume them as they are on those platforms, i will go off how they present themselves on those platforms. @@An1mystics Yeah it's not all of them, but I'm talking about the part of them we see, i already clarified that. Aki doesn't have a manager. You shouldn't blindly protect friends when people call them out, but Sydney probably doesn't think it's blindly because Aki manipulates the narrative.
@@An1mystics Why are you in the comments defending them? Regardless of what people say about Sydney, she is clearly a driven person who wants to make something of herself and I respect that a lot.
Fun fact. Although Australia doesn't have much dialect change verbally in Australian sign language (ASL) there is a huge dialect difference. Some entire words change and some areas actual signify the end of a signed sentence by signing the letter a. This dialect difference is so big that the ASL signbank (online dictionary) asks what state you want your sign in.
when they talked about cancel culture connor mentioned how there’s not enough people who say “let’s just wait it out and hear from both sides first” i was one of those people who preferred to wait it out but i stopped voicing that opinion now just because if you say that you want to hear the other side you will get attacked by the mob for not hating one side enough cancel culture is so ridiculous
It is! I've never had a Twitter, and at this point I probably never will, because I will inevitably feel terrible about someone getting canceled, and that just doesn't sound good for my mental health
Ayyy now that Aki has been on trash taste we can finally have a couples episode! Joey and Aki, Garnt and Sydney and Connor and his hand!!! Edit: You don't know how long I've waited to say this

Lol
When Garnt said about Aki mom mode, I imagine her shouting drill instructor style at everyone that's fucking around when they shouldn't
We had an on campus rifle range in our JROTC bunker. I thought that was normal for all schools. Plinking .22s during lunch while a couple of teachers brought in 9mms and .45s was the norm. 'Merica, fuck yeah. The 90s was a magical time.
Hell, I'm Japanese, and I went though JROTC school my first high school year in America.

Aki job quote “oh I only got paid for just doing all that and a career is wow got paid that much for just doing that” opened my eyes
I got paid so much for barely any effort"
Taking your bartender example it could be:
Person A:
"I have to keep the bar clean, keep track of customers, mix drinks properly and pay close attention to everything and only get paid barely over minimum wage. This sucks!"
Person B:
"I get to talk to many different people while I mix drinks and clean stuff? Wow, that's awesome!"
Two different perspectives on the same position.

@@brendenclapp7304 I mean that depends on where you live too XD
@@brendenclapp7304 is it? I don't even recall what exactly happened. I remember getting into fist fights over other stuff, so maybe I'm a little jaded.
Is it just me, or Joey is like glowing with happiness during whole podcast?) Very heartwarming
The hand shake part hurts me personally
When I meet someone and they whip their hand out for a shake, I'm just like "Oh no this guy has superior communication skills!

Yeah man, this was a really pleasant episode to listen to, I liked it
Aki is the definition of mob mentality.
I love Sydney, she's a great person, very driven, wish her the best. Aki is the opposite.
