  • Sábados en Chapultepec 🍃 Come with us to Mexico City’s largest public park, spanning over 1,600 acres (in 3 sections) and is home to some of the most internationally renowned museums, cultural exhibits, monuments, fountains, and beautiful green spaces that chilangos (locals) and visitors swarm to on the weekends. The name Chapultepec comes from Nahuatl, one of the many Aztec native languages, and means Hill of the Grasshopper (“chapul” - grasshopper, and “tepec” - hill). Grasshoppers are significant in Aztec history & cosmology, representing fertility, abundance, and the ability to transform in an instant, and were quite literally swarming this park in early days because of the abundance of water & springs. The park is now home to many historic landmarks and museums, a castle 🏰, an amusement park 🎡, public art 🖼️, a huge lake ⛵️, and many wooded natural areas to walk, bike, rest, play, and enjoy the day.
We only barely touched the surface of Section 1, mostly because we got distracted by everything we saw along the way 😂 and because dogs are not allowed in certain parts ☝🏼 but we will have many more weekends to go back and continue exploring this amazing, gigantic park.
Breakfast @cafe_papagayo was delicious and yes, Mochi loves being a passenger princess 💅🏼✨
