Fellow stroke survivor chiming in. I too suffered a brainstem (cerebellar) stroke 9 weeks ago and am still reeling from the implications of what this means for my life. Basically I've been grieving the loss of my old life. Like you I'm relatively young (age: 43) and like you circumstances caused me to miss the critical 3hr window where quick administration of TPA could have spared me the worst of the potential damage. Anyway just wanted to say you're an inspiration, man, and having watched a bunch of your other videos, I love the way you haven't let your stroke take over your life.
I have a cousin in England (I am in Florida) who had a stroke last year and had all the symptoms you have except it also effected his memory. Your memory seems to be spot on... so thank God for that. Also, in your last video you apologized for not being in the mood. There are gonna be good & bad days, it's part of your healing process, apologies are not necessary. Just remember that when you ARE having bad days, there are others who are thinking about you... trod forward Brian!
Dang Brian,I haven't been following TH-cam lately.Glad to hear your doing better and I wish you a speedy recovery.the world can't lose ya!Who else is gonna teach these young cats how to dj!Get well.
Thanks for sharing the symptoms that you experienced, helps to understand better and hopefully help ourselves or someone else that may be in a similar situation down the road. It's like CPR training, you hope to never have to use it but it's good to know how just in case. You are looking and sounding better everyday, keep up the positive vibe
Positivity, and may prayers from St. John's, NL Brian! U'r going to get through this man! I have faith and am sending that faith to you also. Keep working the right side of your body man. It'll help your brain develop new pathways to repair the right side of your body. Dana D Curtis
Thank You Brian, I experienced a stroke in 2015. I am recovering slowly but surely. I did not want to post my experience in the beginning because as you know recovery may be negatively or positively effected by the thoughts going on around us. I can relate to many of your videos and I am so grateful for them and you. I now look forward to sharing my story in order to help others through
Hey man, I too had a stroke in 2011. I ended up having brain surgury all because of some meds i was on due to a blood clot in my leg. Im fine but i lost my periphial vision to my left side. I appreciate your videos and look forward to seeing some more of your work. Thanks for all your help.
Hey dj compelling story about the stroke that you suffered I'm a dj myself and I just turned 43 and my health has always been important even more so now I couldn't imagine not being able to do what I love we should all take stock of our lives. I appreciate your character and your amazing will to keep pushing despite the overwhelming odds. Keep spinning, your brother dj-x-cell Las Vegas.
DJ Chafe again, wife said Acupuncture, she is going to collage and going for doctorate in holistic medicine, among that certi. is acupuncture, check it out ASAP!!
Thank you for posting all your personal vlogs about your stroke. I had a stroke 11/7/2015. I went on youtube looking to find out if anyone went through some of the struggles I've been going through. And there you were. So much good information and knowing my feelings are normal. I appreciate the time you took to bring us your vlogs. I am going to view all of them. Warm Regards, Christine
Hi, I'm Lucy, 26. I had a stroke with almost all the same symptoms 2 years ago. I was dancing at my mom's wedding when it happened. Thankfully, I got to the hospital within that window of opportunity and got treated immediately. It took almost a year to recover as much as I could, now I'm back with 95% of movement back from my left side, cant quite type with all my fingers on my left side but i got pretty quick with my right hand and one stiff finger from my left hand, lol. I initially lost 60%+ of my vision. now i'm down to only 35-40%. I might never get that little bit back, but I manage with what I have. I wonder how you're doing now and how much recovery you've acquired so far?
hi. read your comment. I'm 28 had a stroke July 6th 2014. a little over a year ago.i actually had 2 stroke the same day. a ischemic and a hemmorage stroke. I didn't lose my vision, but I have short term memory loss and my speech is messed up. I basically lossed half maybe a little less of my vocabulary verbally. glad this auto correct helping ha... but did you get PTSD or anxiety from what happened? fear of it happening again? I did. after I got out the hospital, I started waking up yelling, it's happening again or MY ARM! basically I'd wake up yelling things that I actually said the day this stroke happened. wake up sweaty And all that crap. I just wanted to know how did you deal with it if you also got ptsd from this. hard to talk to people for me now. especially when people don't understand what it's like to go through what we did.. since they don't know they assume, it's nothing that bad and need to get over it. I didn't lose my vision but I ended up with 26%brain damage. short term memory loss, bad speech, chronic neuropathy aka nerve brain damage. so basically mental problems. thanks. of you get the you answer this.
@iglespepito thanks for asking the question that everybody was wondering, but nobody wanted to ask! @briansredd thanks for answering such a personal question!! also thanks for the important information about what it's like to go through the process of having a stroke, what it feels like, things people should know and look out for.
Brian, I did a mix for you to help keep your spirits up and to show what I learned from you, Jonathan and on my own. Unfortunately, youtube removed the audio. I posted it as a response to this video anyway. I put the audio on my soundcloud site. Also, I am in the process of seeking legal counsel b/c YT is violating Section 512(f) of the DMCA. It is a shame that we try to do a good thing and it is ruined.
Hi Brian, I had my stroke a year ago and still having physio, trying to get back to a good life. Do you discuss your physiotherapy and daily exercise routine in any of your TH-cam videos? You are inspirational and I'd like to hear what your experience of rehab was. Cheers, Phil
