This is an AMAZING video! Maybe one of the best ones out there. I love your passion and your love for life. If people watched stuff like this rather than (whatever they are watching) the world would be a better place. Also note - You are an average ultra runner. Which means, you are "average" within the 1% (or less) of people who could even think about lining up for an ultra let alone complete one. Amazing accomplishment and congrats on the engagement. Very well done.
Wow I’m crying, I got goose bumps while I read this. This has to be the kindest words we have ever received, thank you so much for your support and inspiring us to keep creating a space to inspire others.
This really hits home for me, thanks so much for the extremely kind works CP. I really appreciate the feedback, its still a bit weird to be on camera so I'm glad we come off that way as thats our outlook haha.
Congratulations! So glad you'll be part of our family, Jen. First my eyes got moist when Bryce opened the 'Pain Cave' note, then tears stared accumulating when you crossed the finish line holding hands and tears started in flowing when Bryce got down on his knee! You two make a great pair supporting each other each step of the way. Love and hugs to you both, Betty
Thanks Betty! It was really one of the best days of our life so far, we could have asked for a better day! I feel so lucky that I get to be added to your guys family!
This was the GREATEST day ever!! I still get tears when I think about it. I am forever inspired by yalls dedication, hard work, and commitment. Y’all always had a long term vision and even in the hardest, darkest, most challenging parts you were patient and kind with yourselves knowing this was the way to achieve the big goal. I love you both very much and am excited for your journey together both in future races and in life! 🖤
What a great video!! I teared up during the pain cave letter ..... that was just so sweet!!! Then I teared up at the end with such a sweet finish and proposal. So glad I stumbled across your channel! Can't wait to start following along on your journey.
Thank you Jennifer! It was really one of our most memorable moments in life so far, we are happy you enjoyed the video and are happy to have you along for the journey! 😊
OMG you two - I was already crying happy tears for you both when you crossed the finish line hand in hand and then THAT happened…. (Don’t want to ruin it for anyone that hasn’t watched yet). Now it makes sense why it took you so long to post this - you were rightfully celebrating 🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations!! ❤
Incredible, congratulations on both counts!! Great video showing the highs and lows of ultras. Honestly, I'm a truly average ultra runner... fighting cutoffs, but still taking the time at aid stations to chat with volunteers and runners and sample ALLL the new foods! 😂 You guys smoked it, I think a longer distance NEEDS to be in your future!
Thank you so much! Haha it is fun to be average, mostly because that’s all we can be haha but party pace is where it’s at! It’s nice to hear from a fellow average runner!
Thank you for sharing your journey. My wife and I are getting into middle distance trail running and may attempt a marathon / ultra one day. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck with your next event. (From yhe Aussie Average Runners ) :)
That is so awesome that you guys are starting to tackle that goal, when you do your marathon/ultra you are going to crush it! Going through training and an event like that together makes your bond so much stronger!
Haha, please do! I would love to hear that we inspired others to do a race, how awesome. Let me know if you have any questions, I would be happy to help out another average runner 😆
Wow. What a fuckin journey. You guys are inspirational and absolutely crushed it. It was amazing getting to follow along every single week of the training and see it to completion. Especially liked the Ultra Fiesta where we got to party. Much love Average(Ultra) Wanderers
We are so glad you were able to join us on our journey! Next time you’ll be able to drink from the starting line since the epic surprises are over haha
Wow, you guys! I thought the bit where you crossed the line together was a beautiful, emotional moment, but then you even topped that right afterwards 🙂❤ Congratulations on both counts. Great video of the whole event too. Best of luck with whatever you take on next together 👍🏻🏃♂️
Thank you for following our journey Mark! We can’t wait to see how your race goes but we know you have been crushing your training and will do awesome!!
Thank You for an amazing video. I felt quite emotional, seeing You crossing the finishline, but when Bryce went on his knee and proposed to Jen it brought a tear to My eyes. This really gave Me inspiration to try and attempt an ultra. I´m looking forward to more adventures with You guys.
Thanks Michael! We are so happy that we could give you some inspiration to achieve your goals! When you do an ultra you are going to do awesome and we will be cheering you on from mile 1 of training all the way to the end!
I'm finally catching up on your videos! What an absolutely stunning video - you guys captured this epic race so well! I always learn so much about ultra running from you guys! Congratulations!
The croom 50 mile fools run in april in brooksville florida obviously not to hilly but can get hot bit beautiful course was my first 50 about 15 yrs ago
Love your videos! 50 mile race suggestion: Ray Miller Trail Race, December, SoCal coastal views, not super technical, AND you can camp at Sycamore Canyon Campground or Thornhill Broome Campground.
That actually sounds like an awesome run and very doable for us to travel to at that time of year, we will for sure keep this in mind! Thank you for the recommendation!!
This was awesome!. Not sure if you was serious but I had the throw up nerves all the night prior to the race. I did however get a good 6 hours of sleep though. 40 minute aid station stop 😱 I had the mentality I just wanted to finish as fast as possible. I would grab some goodies and just start walking. If I would of sat down I wouldn't of been able to get back up. Sorry for the shin splints I had tight calves but never turned into a cramp or didn't have to worry about the shin splints. All in all you guys did awesome. & That note you guys had was so cool, my wife and kids was sending me videos and that really hit me when I was around mile 28-32. I really enjoyed this. ❤️
Thank you! Haha we should have definitely done your technique at the crew stop but it was well worth the moral boost! That’s so awesome that your wife was so supportive and sending you videos in the toughest moments, sounds like you got a great support team!
Great vid! Clean the area you'll tape with tincture of benzoin (best, but have to plan ahead) or rubbing alcohol (decent, and easier to find) to get KT tape to stick.
What an amazing day and what an amazing video! I also loved the pictures at the end. You are both awesome. Good job on pushing through and thank you for sharing your journey. Now I'm really curious if I'll also start out way too fast on my first ultra :D
Thank you so much! It has been super fun to document and bring you along on our ultra journey! You are going to crush your race! Also it’s so hard to slow down when you have explosive adrenaline pumping through your body hahaha so I hope your adrenaline carries you all the way to the finish line!
What an amazing race!!!! And a fantastic video - you both knocked it out of the park! Congratulations to you both on your engagement! I can’t wait to follow you on more ultra adventures! You have both inspired me to get back out there and set crazy goals for my running journey. Pick a race!! Let’s go!!
Thank you Lori!! We can’t wait to share more with you, this was such a fun time that I can’t imagine not completing more!! You are right, let’s gooooo!!!!!
Congrats on the run you both did great! And of course congrats on your engagement, what a wonderful surprise and it all was captured on film! Best wishers to both of you!
Heartland 50 Miler in eastern Kansas. Not a lot of elevation like in Colorado. Have I tried it? Not yet. Still working on half marathons and marathons. :)
Hi there! My sister works with one of you and recommended your video! Congratulations to you both on your finish AND your training! All that work you guys put in leading up to this is just as impressive! I ran the McDowell Mountain Frenzy 50 miler this past year, also put on by Aravaipa Running in Phoenix---Definitely recommended if you're looking for another Arizona race!
The both of you did great. That is a awesome event. I have only done the Javelina Hundred in that area but someday will return for Black Canyon. Thanks for sharing
The Javelina sounds like a blast! Maybe we could add it to the list! Black canyon will always have a special place in our hearts, so we hope you are able to tackle that race someday!
I know I have never met either of you I am BEYOND HAPPY for you both. In running your first Ultra (even the ups and down) and now the engagement. Congrats to you both. As for maybe a 50 miler like I said before there is one in July that runs from Carlton MN to the Duluth Zoo and back. It is called the Voyager 50. I am not to far away from there and would come crew you both. Or if you really want something longer put your name on the Mines of Spain 100k list for October in Iowa. I have run this looped course now two times and signed up for a third. It is the greatest race. Also if you have a summer or fall Minnesota race let me know I sure can crew or pace you both.
Wow that would be so awesome!!! It would be so great to have you help since you know what you’d be doing haha and show us the ropes! I think a fall race in Minnesota would be so beautiful, with all the changing colors!

We ran the 60k and I believe anyone can sign up for that, I think if you are trying to compete for the golden ticket in the 100k, you probably need to have some sort of qualification but I’m also not 100% sure on that! Hopefully that was some what helpful 😂
I had run that many marathons but running on a road is way different then running on an uneven trail. I had also had knee surgery which created my quad to completely atrophy, which then developed tendinitis in my patella and quad tendons and was not able to run for 6 years which led to a weight gain over 30lbs. I read this out loud to Bryce and got super choked up, and am still crying. It was an honor to have you as part of our crew, and hopefully we’d be honored again to have you be a big part of future crewing #PACT 💜
Oh I’m PACT for lyfe! Only this time I’ll actually know what I’m doing 😂 - I learned sooooooooo much (mostly learned about what I didn’t know re: crewing hahaha)
Rocky Raccoon 50 is a great into fifty miler in Huntsville State Park (TX)! It's largely flat terrain -- just be on the lookout for roots -- and in February so it isn't in the middle of the Texas summer.

That one sounds approachable for elevation! We will look into it! Thank you for the recommendation!
