My wife and I do puzzles, sizes ranging from 300 - 2000. You see, she has epilepsy and ever since we started doing puzzles she appears to be much more relaxed and the amount of seizures she experiences has appeared to decrease. She still has seizures, but the average number and severity has decreased. As an added bonus we have spent many many hours chatting and having fun while doing puzzles.
At eighty years old my husband and I use puzzles to distract from the horror of the political news. We do 500 to 1000 piece puzzles and have completed six or seven since Thanksgiving this year alone. Nice to have offspring who feed our puzzle obsession.
Theres more there, then people realize. I have parents who collect and do springbok puzzles, and at one stage in my life going from one part of my life to the next, I didn't know what to do, and discovered after doing an mc esher puzzle of stairways in all directions, that puzzles were answering a lot of deep questions, as I talked my way through it. So more power to him. I think he's on to it.
God bless you Paul! It took my now almost 13 yr old daughter and me over a year to finish a 500 piece puzzle. Embarrissing, I know but we finished! THAT is what counts and it is very symbolic to me. We are obviously not good at it so we screamed at this puzzle, we looked at it mean (lol), we laughed, we concentrated and... we talked! Of course we talk daily and multiple times but aside from walking together or the time spent during a car ride - this is one of the best ways of spending "talk time" OR "quiet non-verbal time" together. There were weeks and weeks where it just sat there and most of the times we just spent a "few pieces" together on it but I was determined that we see it through and I saw that my kid needed us to as well. 16 months later we finished it TODAY. It is very symbolic to our journey of the last 16 months. This puzzle became our "most hated thing to do.... together (!)" and sometimes I was alone finding a few pieces and I felt... alone... I KNOW you are on to something with the puzzle therapy because I now think about buying another one and asking my daughter to sit with me more regular every day. Who knows... Maybe we become good at it ;)
You will never know how much you have enriched your daughter’s life by spending this time with her. I have spent almost 50 years trying to explain that the quiet time you spend with you child is far more beneficial than the big outings. The quiet talks and exchange of ideas you had with her are gold that she can bank and withdraw later as she parents her own child.
Thank you so much for this video . Doing my first jigsaw puzzle 🧩 by myself it’s 1000 pieces of a bohemian home decor with plants 🪴 im so excited to see the end results . But I’m also looking up tips and tricks to puzzling so I don’t get overwhelmed. I know this is a journey for me to find myself . Giving me a piece of mind . Good day everyone!
I have been going through a rough time and jigsaw puzzles have been my go to. When it all gets too much I lose myself in a puzzle for a day or two and get back to what I need to do. Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely agree - loved them as a child, left them alone for maybe 45 years and rediscovered the joy and calming effect a few years ago. Now they are my go-to for anxiety.
I've just recently started doing puzzles again having not done them since I was young. As I approach 60 I find it very relaxing and it takes me back to when I was young. And it's good for my brain! 😁👍❤️
It also means a good chunk of time NOT on social media, or watching the soul crushing news. And oh the joy of that last piece fitting in. Good for this guy. I hope someday he can make it a full time job. In the meantime, rock a part time job, and keep doing what you love. ❤
I didn't see a link for his puzzles. I'm sure puzzle therapy isn't for everyone. My husband never does puzzles. His work is constant problems that have to be solved fast. So he doesn't lingering over a puzzle. But my sister, brother and I felt comfort doing puzzles after our mother died in a tragic accident. I think its therapeutic because it is somewhat meditative but also solves "A" problem even though "The" problem we are suffering from is unsolvable in reality.
This story truly touches the heart. Puzzles have an incredible way of helping us find calm and focus, especially during challenging times. It’s amazing to see how something as simple as putting pieces together can reflect the way we rebuild our lives. At QPuzzles, we believe in the power of puzzles-not just as a fun pastime but as a therapeutic tool that brings peace and a sense of achievement. Our Australian-made puzzles, with whimsical cuts and stunning designs, aim to bring joy, healing, and connection. Sending you warmth and support, one piece at a time 🧩❤
Puzzles slow and calm me down and the greatest feeling of accomplishing something that I started. My daughter watches her momma get so excited piece after piece, now she's a mini puzzle Master.
This is so cool Paul! Hopefully are still doing the trvl channel show as I enjoy it! I truly hope you find what you are looking for in your journey and find the peace and solace you so need. Many blessings 🙌🏾 🙏🏾
I was thinking of doing art therapy not going to sessions but just doing it for bymyself and i was thinking about jigsaw puzzles different types of it and jigsaw puzzle i thought puzzle therapy is not existent until now that ive search it im going to do all of it Im excited❤
I get it now. J-puzzles have taught me that they open a door to another place. My mother-in-law was 97 years old and living alone for almost 30 years since her husband passed away and she was doing fine with all her daily activities. Cooking, driving her car, and seeing friends. All of this life-stye ended abruptly in 2020 when Covid-19 hit. Suddenly she could no longer see her friends and her car broke down and she stopped driving. We were not expecting anything when one day, my wife called her on the phone as she did every day and NO Answer. Panic set in when this happens and we tried the phone 10 more times hoping to get an answer, we finally jump in the car and drive to her condo which luckily is only 4 miles from our house. We tried to think of finding her dead on the floor, but you just cannot shut your mind off when it wants to go astray. Each traffic light seemed to be an eternity, but finally, we stuck the key into her front door and there she was, staring at the phone in her hand and she said I did not know how to use it. To be continued
I can understand how puzzles soothe a restless mind, any mind, in fact. But I really am surprised to see people would pay for a "therapist" to do one with then. In a way, that'd be annoying to have someone there and be forced to communicate, even nonverbally, while I'm trying to relax and focus. I guess extroversion and the need to be with others is a very dominant trait in most people. And the fact that he'd be able to charge more with a therapist license, to me, just proves the industry is mostly quackery. It's why people go to therapists for years on end. It doesn't work any better than just having a friend who listens. It doesn't resolve anything. It just makes you feel like you matter to somebody.
I can totally relate to the therapy aspect of jigsaws, but I can't do them 'with' someone - that is plain annoying for me. Music on, a cup of tea and a big jigsaw is my solution to anxiety.
Wonderful. Loved them as a child, left them alone for maybe 45 years and rediscovered the joy and calming effect a few years ago. Now they are my go-to for anxiety. I think your brain has to be wired a certain way to enjoy jigsaws tho - my partner hates them, yet enjoys crosswords.
YES YES YES, please believe, my mentally challenged Son put puzzle together lives to do it. It is one of the main characteristics of his condition. It is so good for him and he drags other in on it. He puts together then tapes them to gather turn over picture side down. 2,3or bigger doesn't bother him. So thanks for all that you do. Yup he has done shares to fish dog boat anything good stuff thanks oh he is over 50 now. Started about 5yrs of age.
I am margie Sanchez I just love puzzling on jigsaw puzzles it's a puzzle. It's fun l love to do puzzles. It's fun to do and see it grow right before your eyes. Margie Sanchez.
And it's a great way to relax and enjoy it and have fun with it doing it and you do it and when it's totally done you have the satisfaction of having done a puzzle and I glue them ,let them dry. And give them away as a personal present and that's it's a hand made present for myself and others.

I transmuted the pain of heartbreak to solving jigsaw puzzles. I'm on my third puzzle........best therapy ever.
How many have you done now?
I am 74 years old and that's exactly what I'm doing now putting together a 2000 piece puzzle, keeps my mind alert. Love doing it.🤠
Which puzzle is it? I have a few 2 and 3k pc puzzles..
I agree, puzzles get me out of my head, into the here and now, and away from the news and social media.
Yes, jigsaw puzzles are very zen. A quiet, peaceful, contemplative, mindful activity that ends in whole-ness > the big, complete picture. 👍🧩😁🙏✌

These are awesome puzzles. They prevent Alzheimers too. Now let's get this guy certified so he can get some respect.
No proof anything prevents Alzheimer's. Just correlation.

"Act as if" is extremely powerful. We believe we can when we DO. We find what we seek... we see what we believe.

Jigsaw puzzles have added so much to my life. Keep doing what you're doing!
Yeah, I'm building a library of multiple sizes and types of puzzles, and they do help.
Incredible and inspiring story! I just completed a 2000-piece puzzle and loved it! That last piece feeling is just the best!
It's a good thing he became unemployed. A blessing in disguise. God indeed works in mysterious ways.
This is beyond awesome.
Turns out this comment was the missing piece we needed today.
It also means a good chunk of time NOT on social media, or watching the soul crushing news. And oh the joy of that last piece fitting in.

what a great therapy for grief

so she was alive, but where is the continuation?
I don't get the story

Different strokes for different folks
yes I would never do that, I think its more helpful alone.
Great piece and great telling....
That’s just how I feel about this endless lockdown.
at least a puzzle has an endpoint and a finish, completion point. At a time when other problems may seem unsolvable in our lives
It was a fucking lie

my parter prefers crosswords to jigsaws but we do them together
