  • As a teenager in the late 1970s I always enjoyed watching American Bandstand on Saturday afternoons. This is a montage I created of Don Sanuskar who danced on the show from 1965 - 1974. His dance partners in this video include Robin Morris who sadly passed away in January 2020, Judy Gordon, Roni Menacker, DeeDee Del Campos and Robin Miller. Thank you very much to Don for taking the time to provide me his incredible AB footage, pictures, invitations and tickets for use in this montage. I know American Bandstand fans appreciate his efforts to save these wonderful items for so many years for all of us to enjoy.

I know I’m biased, but these are my favorite ABdancers montages. This is another great mix of Don’s dancing performances and math skills too (lol). Outstanding as always Jeff!

DAN, HOPE YOU CAN ASSIST ME. LOOKING TO RE-CONNECT WITH A SHORT BLOND, 1967 DANCER, MALINDA LARSON. WE MET IN THE SUMMER OF 1967. WISH TO RE-CONNECT WITH HER. ANY ASSISTANCE WOULD BE MOST WELCOME. HOPE SHE IS STILL DANCING.

ABdancers what patience it took to peruse footage and come up with these clips ! Loved the interspersed edits of the AB ticket stub and the "future cast" video with Robin Miller some 20 years later. Gosh, we were so young. Bandstand wouldn't be Bandstand, though, without the entire cast of regulars. A special nod to my dance partners here: Robin Morris, Judy Gordon, Roni Menacker, DeeDee Del Campos. and Robin Miller. Fab job, Jeff. :-) ~~ Don

Thank you very much for the fantastic comment Don. I appreciate it. DeeDee Del Campos was definitely a favorite 1960s dancer of mine. Do you recall how your spotlight dance with her happened? - Jeff

AB dancers -- easy peasy -- she got picked for Spotlight and DeeDee asked if I'd dance with her. ~~ Don

dancer don Smart decision by DeeDee as she knew you were excellent in handling the pressure of a Spotlight Dance. I know when I was 16 and either DeeDee, Robin or Peggy asked me to a dance the answer would definitely be YES!! - Jeff

This is just awesome...Our friend, Don, sure was a FANTASTIC dancer! Notice he and his dance partner on the Procol Harum song are the only ones doing a really stylish touch dance...Flawless! Great montage here and so well deserved of DON! :---) (Also just learned that the "Sunny Goodge Street" was penned by none other than "Donovan"...And funny how '67 Bandstand dancers were just quite not ready for the sounds of "David Bowie".)

mrob75 I'm surprised that David Bowie was out on the music scene in 1967. I thought he came on the scene in the early 70s as Ziggy Stardust.

mrob75 we were clueless as to who Bowie was in 1967 but Dick Clark was tuned in to the up-and-comers! ^5 Mario. You're always tuned in! ~~ Don

mrob75 I noticed that as well. Don did an excellent job of leading Judy Gordon during this “A Whiter Shade of Pale” spotlight dance. Thank you for the excellent comment. - Jeff

and Jeff, THANKS SO MUCH for all of the names! Great "AB" history!

    • @ABdancers
      @ABdancers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Stephen Short Actually David Bowie had even earlier singles out in the UK as far back as 1964 when he was using a variation of his real name (David Jones). He referred to himself as both Davie and Davy during that time. Obviously with the popularity of “The Monkees” he knew he had to change it so his last name became “Bowie” in 1966.

Wasn't September 9, 1967 the day AB started airing episodes in color?

I finally found out what your name is! I've been viewing AB clips recently and I wanted to find out who "that dancer" was. i think it's so cool how you look so business-like in your dancing. Very meticulous.
You appear to want to get things "right".
I even downloaded the TH-cam clip entitled: "American Bandstand 1968 -Dancer Mark- Over You, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap" and named it "Meticulous dancer" based on the footage between 1:19 and 1:33. You just seem so cool. How did AB pick which couples would dance on the raised podium things?
How did you choose your dance partners for any given dance? Did you date any of your dance partners(If that's not too personal)? Who was your favorite dance partner? Where did you learn to dance?
i hope you can find the time to reply. Signed; A Fan from the 22nd Century..

Obviously I wrote the above message for Don Sanuskar, but I was too foolish to include that crucial information in my initial message.
