*the future of electric cars in america. its pretty annoying to see all the storms that destroy lives and the USA to veer away from common sense but this is America right... in sweden they are just coming out with roads that recharge while you drive. thats the actual future but what do i know.
I’ve owned 4 Mazdas: ‘86 B2000, ‘91 MX-6, ‘99 Protege, 2017 CX-5. Plus my daughter -in-law has a ‘14 Mazda 3. NEVER had a mechanical issue with any of them.
I remember testing a 91 Mazda 929 S. I loved it but back then I thought it was a little out of my range of expertise because I have always done my own labor. So I bought something domestic and wasn't very happy... I'm a little harder to please when it comes to autos. My current Mercury Grand Marquis I'm in love with. The Corollas I've rented I was in love with. The friend's Camry and Venza and Tacoma I was in love with. The Avalon I tested I was in love with. Seems like there's a pattern there. I mean.. I'm not a scientist but it seems like there's a pattern there. I have an uncle who has had extremely good luck with Lexus e330 and e350's and he's had nothing but good to say.
Just bought a new Mazda3 Select Sport this past Thursday. Picking it up on Monday. Beautiful car, especially the interior. Got an incredible deal on it too. Can't wait!
I tested drove the Mazda 3 sedan. I liked it, but chose the CX-30 instead cause it had all the sedan had, but more room , the Mazda 3 hatches are ugly , I got poly metal gray with red leather interior .
@@jimmyhamm6041 Sacrilege! The hatches look sportier and are sexier than the sedans by a mile. Not to mention they are the best looking hatches in the category.
Scotty's right, which is why I bought a GTO in 2006 rather than listen to the crowd say it's not a "Real GTO." Buy the car/SUV/Truck that's well made rather than what's popular. Works for me!
Owned a 1988 Mazda 323 4-Door, Front Wheel Drive. Great little car. Drove it during the snow season in Wester Mass. Handled better than a 4-wheel truck.
2021 manual transmission mazda3 hatch, polymetal gray with the red leather interior, had it for 1.5 years now at 50k miles and im still obsessed with it. I also own a 1990 miata but the mazda3 really has my heart, the design and feel is just my style. fun to drive and once you break in the bose speakers they sound amazing, wonderful daily driver and road trip car (super comfortable seats for me).
Scotty, I bought my 2014 honda accord new. It has a turbo and 200k miles. It still runs fine. I plan on buying a newer vehicle in 3 years when I give this one to my grandson. My mechanic alway said, buy honda or Toyota because I never work on them. I'll check back with you in a few years on which retirement car I should get😂❤
My Mazda 2.5 head cracked at 198,000 miles. However I drive for work so it’s constantly being used. I did the swap myself after finding a used engine online for $400 locally. Watched a lot of this channel during the swap. It was only my second swap in my life. First one was a 2nd generation Mazda Rx7 with the rotary engine. Were both a challenging but rewarding experience. When it fired up after swapping the happiness I felt was right up there with the day my daughter was born. Thanks Scotty for an awesome channel
I went in to try a Mazda 3, I had a hard time getting in and out. Never did take it out on the road. Once Mazda rid themselves of FORD their reputation went up.
Donald Trump came to the Detroit economic club, and stood there in front of the Ford motor executive and said, "If you close these factories as you're planning to do in Detroit, and build them in Mexico, I'm going to put a 35% tariff on those cars when you send them back and nobody is going to buy them." It was an amazing thing to see. No politician, republican or democrat, had ever said anything like that to these executives and it was music to the ears of people in Michigan, and Ohio and Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Whether Trump means it or not, is kind of irrelevant because he's saying the things to people who are hurting. And it's why every beaten down, nameless, forgotten working stiff, who used to be part of what was called the middle class, loves Trump.
My brother-in-law has 2016 F150 with a turbo 2.7 V6. The engine is dead at 110,000 miles. Yes, plenty of power and torque that rivals my 3/4 ton GMC with a 6.0 liter, but it didn't make it to 246,000 miles like my truck with a naturally aspirated V8. None of these turbo charged engines will out last a naturally aspirated engine. Just my observation.
My 2011 F150 (3.5 twin turbo) has 163k miles and runs great. I do worry about the turbos however because there are lots of problems reported by customers and I’m well aware of that. I change oil and filter every 3k miles which I’m sure helps but not always.
Love my Mazda 3. I want the hatchback since it’s made in Japan and I had the turbo. Still average 32 miles per gallon on the highway, but only 22 in the city.
Hitting 36k miles on my 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatchback and I haven’t had any issues with it. It runs perfect and it’s also made in Japan not in Mexico like 2022 models and newer
Dear Scotty Kilmer, This was the first of your videos that I have had the pleasure to watch. I absolutely love your style, delivery, and bluntness. I have only started thinking about another car in the last few weeks now that I have had my 2004 Acura TL for more than 20 years. It has a 6 cylinder v-tec engine and automatic transmission. All I have had to do with it is change the oil, replace the tires and replace the brake pads in that time. Plus other recommended maintenance, of course. The most reliable car I've ever had in my life. Frankly, with the junk that they are producing today and the absurd prices, I am terrified at the thought of buying another car. I have already learned tons about what NOT to consider just watching one of your videos. I am sure I will be watching many more. Oh yeah, thank you for reminding me about the new car paranoia. I haven't worried about my car getting scratched or bumped in more than 19 years. There is a lot of wisdom in buying a car that isn't perfect ... you won't be fearing the day it gets its first blemish.
I still only want to drive cars. Luckily I have a 2017 Chevy Impala that has never given me a days trouble. I intend to keep it going strong for as long as I can. Maybe by then they will be making cars again.
I've got the 2021 Mazda 3 sedan with the turbo engine and AWD. Consistently get 26.5 MPG primarily city driving. I don't drive a whole lot as I just passed 30K miles this December. I have taken it on a couple 1000K miles trips and gets about 29-30MPG real world driving on the highway. I have had to have the recall for valve seals done but haven't had any issues since. I only have 2 complaints about the car. 1) the driver's door panel arm rest doesn't have enough padding in it, and the engine shuts off when you open a door when you remote start it. Very small picky issues so over all a great car.
Scotty you advised me to buy a used Toyota Camry a few years ago for my college freshman instead of hydrid Ford Maverick truck he wanted. He graduated and the used Camry still going strong no problems.
I like mazdas cars much more than their SUVs . We have two 3s and a CX 5 . The CX5 is loaded but i hate the seats , dont care for the ride and just feel like our 3s are better in every way . My wife has a premium and i have a carbon . Both manuals . The cx 5 will probably get sold off at some point .
Man i hate the fact that the US loves suvs. We need more wagons, EU gets all the cool wagons and hatchs. Im so thankful mazda decided to give us a hatchback.
I bought a 2016 Scion iM for 8000 dollars with 50k miles which is basically a Toyota Corolla. I couldn’t believe it 50k miles on those 1.8 4 cylinder engines are nothing!!!! I was so excited for that buy
I miss my mazda CX30 turbo. Unfortunately, it was having the low oil warnings, so i traded it for something much better on gas- a '23 Prius. The interior (for obv reasons) is louder, less comfortable, the stereo sucks.. literally just a tool for better mileage. I miss that damn CX!
Good friend had surgery couldn't drive for 2yrs so her handa fit sat parked in all types of weather conditions for that long. When she could drive.. that thing moved like it was new it just needed a battery and 2 new tires 2 months in an oil change. After witnessing that i got a honda enough said.
I bought 2017-1/2 Mazda 6. The last of the full size Mazda’s for $17,800 new. Six years old, no problems except just replaced the original battery. I had a Camry for a loaner during some body work, it was a snooze compared to the Mazda.
I spent all yesterday buying a 2008 CRV an hour away from me after seeing your video and to replace the 2008 CRV my kid totaled. Low mileage and now a backup to my 2015 Odyssey that's having lots of problems, so thank you!!! Now if you can talk about old Odysseys. I didn't have the muzzle until 153K miles because I had no idea. Not sure whether to sell now the I'm getting a PO430 after spending a lot to replace the spark plugs, coils and gasket (probably due to dealer error - left a rubber part of the gasket in when replacing all this at 152K miles).
To me, a Mazda 3 is the best deal, its interior is like that of a Lexus yet it's labeled as a regular car and a smaller one at that, leather seats, well designed dash, features, it's the best bargain in 4 cylinder cars, the motor however ?, I'm not certain if it lasts as long as Toyota or Honda.
I agree anything over 19 grand is just pocket money for dealers..these car prices are pretty ridiculous..funny thing China is selling NEW cars for 6000(EV’s though)…10-19 you will get something decent..why the hell would people want to pay a 10 year 40 grand loan at 8%
I already bought my Camry new in 2020 just before car prices went crazy . It will probably out last me with no turbo and regular automatic transmission I’m good .
Well done! Your Camry is going to outlast all other vehicles of the same age?! My neighbor sold his 1998 Camry, without me knowing, for $500?! 475, O00 miles and still purring! I was devastated! ✌️🙂
Although I've had some issues with my 2015 Honda Fit (a bad year for them), I have loved my car, Ruby! I just wrote to Honda yesterday BEGGING them to start selling Fits in the USA again. Not all of us want obnoxious SUVs! I have gone off-roading regularly with my Fit. :-) I also camp inside her. I'm 5'2" so I can get away with it. She holds A LOT of stuff.
Yeah he really, really does. You ain’t seen nothing yet. Great content, and even better information. Should be required listening for every American. 😂
That was approximately 0-52mph in 8.5 seconds for the mazda 3 (I timed it). Not really shabby for a family-mobile, but any sporty car worth its salt these days will do 0-60 in less than 7 seconds
My 09 mazda 3 finally died on me... because of the ford transmission. Planning to either replace it with the mazda 3 or cx-30 with the turbo, I like being able to go fast too much lol
Recaps on trucks were illegal for a few years. No "gators" on the roads and you didn't have to worry about having one going to pieces in front of you. I think they need to go back to that policy.
The 2007 Honda Fit is probably the car that 90% of the population should be driving. It was incredibly reliable, fun to drive, fuel efficient, tons of space inside. If I wasn't so concerned about the safety problem of driving a small car, I'd still be driving it. That's an issue with our government pushing us to drive huge cars.
Yea I guess about 28mpg is a good average and affordable for most. Funny thing is, that’s what I got in my first car 30 years ago…Volkswagen Corrado G60
I am in the market for a new car since mine finally broke down. I was just thinking to buy one before Trump's tariffs kick in. I got a feeling we are going to feel it in the wallet for the next few years, so I am thinking about buying something really affordable. Maybe Nissan Versa since I only drive to the office 3 days a week. I might look into this Mazda3.
@@ajf4693 Yes sir that is an issue especially for slowpoke drivers like me. I still think they would hold together for at least 175-200k miles for most drivers though.
@@justinharper6677 I have manual 09 mazda 6 inline 4 with 187k was thinking about trading it in for a newer version manual but I did my research and I’m not so fond of the build up so I’m just keeping it.
@@ajf4693 Definitely keep it. Change the oil every 2k miles and drive it like a grandma and it should be just fine. Most of them can go quite some time without any trouble or very little. The new 3 and CX-5 are still solid if you ever get into an accident or some other catastrophe that ruins your 09.
I have a 2008 Corolla that I love, that runs great, 180,000 miles, but started wondering if I should get a newer used Toyota soon (finances not permitting a new one), before prices go up? 🤔🤔🤔
@vickijohnson9367 I totally agree...even though I have a sedan. I use to drive a ram charger and Tahoe. But the 2 hour daily commute to/from work in Austin put me in a Honda Accord.
mazda is like the cheaper version of Toyota same quality but a few thousand cheaper, an mazda dealers dont usually play games when selling cars they are upfront
First toyota camry le awd is 32k here and has no features and a small screen so overpriced no hested seats even that are needed in snow. U need suv and awd in snow.
About computers, they are not smarter. If is simply a machine/robotic machanism can change gears quicker than a human. That is why all higher race classes use semi-automatic gearboxes. The machines does the changing of gears, the human tells the machine when.
Mazda does have weird marketing strategy on brand new Mazda 3. In America: both Sedan, Hatchback you can get the AWD & 2.5liter 191hp naturally aspirated engine, but you can get the manual transmission only with hatchback, no manual transmission for the Sedan. In europe they dont offer 191-194hp Skyactiv 2.5 engine so if you want better performance, you have to buy the e-Skyactiv x 2.0liter engine(belt driven supercharger) 184hp. They discontinued naturally aspirated 2.0liter 140-165hp engine and replaced with 2.5liter engine detuned to 140hp. Also in europe almost all Mazda cars engines from this year have mild hybrid system.
I have a 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring that my brother bought new it's a great car too bad they quit making them gets 28 miles a gallon average. Made in Japan.
You need to buy any vehicle now made in China & Mexico before Trump puts the 100% tariffs on them & yes will include Ford, GM & Stellantis vehicles also.
Have a sixteen-year-old Camry with leather seats and treat them twice a year once in fall one in spring with leather conditioner. Seats are still holding up. if you let that leather dry out it will cack.

Any carbon build up on the valves? I’m asking because I know the engine is a direct injection.
Scotty, I bought my 2014 honda accord new. It has a turbo and 200k miles. It still runs fine. I plan on buying a newer vehicle in 3 years when I give this one to my grandson. My mechanic alway said, buy honda or Toyota because I never work on them.
I'll check back with you in a few years on which retirement car I should get😂❤
I have 1999 Honda Accord V6, 155K miles bought it new as well, stills running good and I'm watching Scott to see which car should I buy next.😊
Dear Scotty, just bought a mazda 3 purely based on your video, wife loved driving it on the way home!
I went in to try a Mazda 3, I had a hard time getting in and out. Never did take it out on the road. Once Mazda rid themselves of FORD their reputation went up.
Donald Trump came to the Detroit economic club, and stood there in front of the Ford motor executive and said, "If you close these factories as you're planning to do in Detroit, and build them in Mexico, I'm going to put a 35% tariff on those cars when you send them back and nobody is going to buy them."
It was an amazing thing to see.
Spot ON‼️ 💯🎯
seeing mazda, hondas, toyotas and nissan sedans for over 30K is just crazy to me
Not crazy if you drive it for how long they are designed to last.
Agreed. I’ll keep my 5.0
7:01 lol, I'm not too old but my dad taught me to turn my head before changing lanes and reversing; and I'll never stop doing it.

Yep, same here. I'm like an owl. Check all the way around, even with the camera
Most technology is useless, but the little blind spot warning light is very useful.
I still look, but I don’t even bother if that light is on
Love my Mazda 3.
We all love Scotty for his common sense and reason..never change
I love my Mazda 3
I think the 3 hatchbacks are made in Japan. I like Mazda. I would love to see them offer a 6 sedan and wagon, inline 6, RWD, no turbo, no CVT.
I honestly would get a mazda
I bought a 21 Cx9 signature with 30k miles for cheap and I love it.
Used to see all older Mazda 3’s with all their hubcaps missing 😂 Camrys always❤!!!
Own a Mazda 2015 cx-5 170,000 and runs great. Not an issue or anything out of pocket.
Man i hate the fact that the US loves suvs. We need more wagons, EU gets all the cool wagons and hatchs. Im so thankful mazda decided to give us a hatchback.
I am so happy with my very first gen skyactive engine 2013 CX-5 GT AWD 😍
I bought a 2016 Scion iM for 8000 dollars with 50k miles which is basically a Toyota Corolla. I couldn’t believe it 50k miles on those 1.8 4 cylinder engines are nothing!!!! I was so excited for that buy
I miss my mazda CX30 turbo. Unfortunately, it was having the low oil warnings, so i traded it for something much better on gas- a '23 Prius.
The interior (for obv reasons) is louder, less comfortable, the stereo sucks.. literally just a tool for better mileage.
I miss that damn CX!
I have a 2020 Mazda3 and it's made in Japan. 41 on the highway 35.5 around town.
I had 4 Nissans in the 80s, 90s, 00s. They were the best. Am so distraught that Nissan went downhill. 😮💨

Maxima 300zx 240sx pathfinder those were the good ol days
Not paying 30 k for anything on 4 wheels
I guess that you haven't bought a new car in the last 20 years. $30k is dirt cheap in the current market.
How about four legs
You don’t have 30k
@ronporter8542 Just because a price is low in todays market doesn’t mean we want to pay it. There are other options
I agree anything over 19 grand is just pocket money for dealers..these car prices are pretty ridiculous..funny thing China is selling NEW cars for 6000(EV’s though)…10-19 you will get something decent..why the hell would people want to pay a 10 year 40 grand loan at 8%
I don't know Scott, we have a 2022 honda civic sport with the k20 engine and cvt transmission, going on 30,000 miles and never had a single problem. 🤔
It's time to change the CVT oil, screen and filter. There's a magnet that picks up metal screening. It can build up debris and clog the screen.
Scotty should probably do a video about what the tariffs might do to car prices. Even stuff made in the US has to import parts.
@@Marty-j9eUnfortunately, not everyone knows 😢
@@Marty-j9e the most-googled search right after the election was "what are tariffs," so I can pretty much promise you - no. No, people really don't.
We're basically screwed when this guy gets in office😂
I was gonna get a mazda cx5 but the engine deactivation and automatic breaking turned me decided on Toyota Avalon 2013 with 60k miles instead
Man alive I just subscribed today and I’ve already got alerts for two shorts and a 30 min video. You really pump out some content
Welcome
Yeah he really, really does. You ain’t seen nothing yet. Great content, and even better information. Should be required listening for every American. 😂
Scotty rocks!
Scotty, your whole neighborhood must know SO Much about cars thanks to your projection, I mean youtube channel 😅
mazdas are very underrated, i still see 07's on the daily
Man those mazda interiors are awesome, they are really trying hard to become a premium brand
Currently looking for a used car. Mazda3 carbon is one of them. The other 2 are Toyota corolla and chevy malibu. Leaning towards mazda
What about the carbon build on valves for the new Mazdas? since they are direct injection.
I have a Mazda CX-5. Thinking about CX-50 next car!
What car will be best in the coming economic depression?
Anything you can sleep in.
Dumb question
Everyone is going to laugh at you people when none of what you all claim happens
@@jaybeezy2330 Exactly
A car that uses parts and materials that are made domestically. Unfortunately that doesn't really happen anymore.
Celica coming? Can't wait to see Scotty test drive one.....2 door coupe, 5 speed?
Mazdas are one of my favorite cars i have a 2012 mazda 3 hatchback with 6 spd manual transmission
I miss my 2016 Mazda 3 with a manual transmission.😢 it was totalled in a wreck. It had 189k miles and still ran like it was brand new.
I had Mazda GLC 5 speed it was a Great Little Car.
I have a 2017 Camry. 82k miles.
I've had Mazdas for several years never had a major problem with them so far, good high quality low price cars in general.
Do I love this guy or what...THANK YOU Scotty!
Exactly a smaller engine with a turbo is a recipe for problems with your engine.
Get the Mazda 3 Hatch.....still made in Japan. My 2006 3 is 18 years old with 153k and never a single problem.
The new Mazdas are direct injection, I wonder about carbon build up on the valves😓
@@ajf4693 Yes sir that is an issue especially for slowpoke drivers like me. I still think they would hold together for at least 175-200k miles for most drivers though.
