- battle between 4 billashaka males versus 4 marsh pride lionesses, they are the pride males but they spend to much time in topi plains area and the marsh girls dont liked a bit ...
this was Bilashaka males Chongo,Doa, Koshoke, Kibogoyo and Kiok vs Marsh pride lionesses Rembo, Kabibi, Kito and Dada and the males are the fathers of the cubs ...

You are right. The first thing these male lions do when they overpower the females, is to kill the existing cubs. That's the way they ensure their line of progeny is continued. Harsh reality of Mother Nature.

looks they had cubs to protect. motherless lionesses against so many males wouldn't stand their ground so fiercely. altho i do wish someone would clarify the full dynamics so we could understand the situation properly

That's what drives the male coalitions is to travel and sire as many Cubs they can, when you have a big coalition then you have strength in numbers, they will push as many males out of the pride as they can..
This is the drive of all male Lions, once they grow into an adult of 3/4-5 years of age. The Marsh Pride was famous through the series “Big Cat Diary” they become known World Wide all the Big Cats of the Serengeti.

No a male lion will gladly risk injury to his mane acting as a buffer zone. The only reason they’re hesitant is because injuring the lionesses or killing then will render their whole mission void. They want to mate with them Not hurt them
These big males were 6 strong until a few months back when one was killed by the 3 Salas Boys in a fight or more of an ambush. You can believe these boys will get thier revenge one day if it has not already gone down

The males do not want to push too far & drive the females away or hurt them.Then they won't be able to mate with them. On the other hand the females may have cubs & are putting up a fierce fight to protect them.

There was 5 male Lions if they wanted to , they could have caused serious damage to those lionesses however they wanted to take over the pride with out fighting and guess what CURRENTLY THEY RULE THOSE LIONESSES AND THAT PRIDE . There was actually 6 of those male lions however one of them got killed but Salah male lions 3 of them ambushed and killed him , but these boys will eventually get them back , plus these lions a still very young ! Will get bigger and stronger !

To increase lion population and decrease inbreeding, wildlife should save the babies, raise them somewhere else and release them back in the wild; meanwhile the lionesses with the incoming males can make new babies

If they are the cubs’ fathers, why would they need to protected by the lionesses? I really believe we should have “save the cubs program” 😂. It breaks my heart when lion/ jaguar/ leopard/ bear cubs get killed. Don’t know why?
Because the cubs are still too young to be introduced to the pride or their fathers. Fathers can be too rough unlike the mothers and can cause serious injuries on their own newborn cubs.

I'd like to implement rule #1. The males automatically providing food for the new mums due to nursing & hardship. As we know, one of the most dangerous times for newborn cubs is mum going away to hunt. With the males providing a constant source of food, the mums can stay home, have a constant flow of rich milk for their cubs, mum can focus on their bond & keeping their cubs healthy, fed, parasite free, safe & happy.
Once the cubs are introduced to the pride, the mum will resume normal hunting duties so the papa's can resume once again maintaining their territory all together.
I believe making these small changes will result in less lion loss, less injuries, stronger healthier lions, creating better hunting odds, & altogether better quality of life for the entire coalition/pride.
Rule #2, lions become monogamous within their pride. One pride per coalition, no exceptions. Coalitions have the opportunity to leave this pride only after 2 yrs/24 moons has passed. There will be no returns and the pride must be given a full moons notice of dispersal.
This rule is exceptionally important as it will raise a healthy lion population.
