    Iived in Pahrump from 1989-2000
    Ans best thing about Pahrump is when you look at it in your review mirror at high speeds going away.
    I worked at that Terribles Town when it had a Kenny Rodgers in it and that Taco Bell. Best thing that happened is when I left. I went back to visit in 2019, and the winery was nice.... But really everything else is falling apart. Sadle West was a pit, it's in serious need of a remodel. If your interested in seeing something that looks almost like it did in 1996 that's a great place to start.

    After moving from heavy snow winters in Reno to the very hot climate in Pahrump it certainly a change in life styles. All considered Pahrump is not where you move to but rather where you should move from. I came for the weather (the heat) and boy was I not let down, hot hot hot. It also seems that during these hot days almost all residents do not have "cold" water in the homes or for gardening. Your cold water faucet or taps in your home stays warm, tepid, to hot depending on the sun that day but never cold. You can get a very decent home for a good price when you shop around with a realtor. Am I happy in Pahrump, to soon to really know as I haven't gone into many places yet except the Saddle West restaurant, worst food ever. Good gas prices, a Walmart, Home Depot looks to be a newer hospital, 1 small car dealership, misc independent restaurants and all the common burger franchise eateries available. Heavy travel roads kept nicely, off streets pretty bad for travel hard on suspensions and comfort. This Pahrump seems to be a poorer town but they are trying to come into the 21st century, actually reminds me some of Tijuana like passing through it. After moving here I would re consider doing so again but I'm here now and don't want to move again so I will just go with the flow and live out whats left of my life and try to enjoy and instead of being a "snow bird" going south for the winter months I will be traveling to cooler climates during the summer months as constantly to hot is just to hot.

      @@Milestomemories Most of us residents of Pahrump love it here. I have lived here 4 1/2 years and bought a home here, prior to that I lived in Las Vegas for many years and raised my kids there. Pahrump is not as poor as people seem to think but it is rural which is how we like it. If this area grows too big in population many of us will probably sell out and find another great small town to live in which I doubt will happen any time soon. To grow a town needs jobs and most industries are better off in Las Vegas. This is more a retirement community where us retired folk have escaped the rat race and big city problems.

      @@christykrueger9401 Back when I did Estate Planning work our clients were mostly retirees who lived in Vegas in the old days and moved to Pahrump because Vegas had grown too big. Makes sense. A lot of retirees and then services jobs, etc. It's nice that the road between Vegas and Pahrump is getting widened. That should help the commute a bit although the construction has dragged on forever. Thanks for the insight Christy!

      I imagine the lack of water and being in a separate and probably impoverished county (Nye) is what keeps this place from growing into a proper city. It's too bad because if there was a way to get water, it's in a great location in a flat area between Las Vegas, NV and Death Valley, CA and has LOTS of space! But it seems like they don't have the money there to make it too much of an attractive area. I do know that there is a winery there, though, that has gotten good reviews although the ownership changed last year. I think the name of it is Pahrump Valley Winery.

    • @jasonplatt2228

      There is also a local museum (Pahrump Valley Museum) that you could visit as well and perhaps also review the dining establishments in the city. Obviously the restaurants can't compare with the ones in the Las Vegas Valley, but they could be compared with other ones in Pahrump to see which are the best and worst places to dine at in Pahrump.

    @harpertracey5532 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    U got quite a bit of your info wrong we live in Pahrump my daughter works security at one of the casinos u mentioned the building at lakeside is not a private home it's what they r calling a bungalow 2 story 3 or 4 bedroom that you can rent out but you have to rent out at 3 day slots of time but actually very affordable at least it was B4 carina shut down.. and it comes equipt with all comforts of home, kitchen grilling area outside pool, spa and a living room entertainment area then bedrooms upstairs ect.. but anyway good job on the video.. I think u should do a few more on the seedier parts of Pahrump, the not so well known hidden gems, and spots to check out, and the better small business places that actually make it more bearable to actually live or visit here... There is more to Pahrump and Vegas than gambling and drinking ect.. u should do a show on best family spots or outings to enjoy ect.. I know it's very limited here if u don't gamble or drink and even less for kids of all ages to do but we r hoping the man who owns the race track and "beach area exclusive private club(at the moment) will be able to finish his plans on his new facilities there as u come into town from Vegas: supposed to be new shops/mall type area, new fancy hotel, and a movie theater, a gym, and good stuff coming in soon! More things created twords families & kids of all ages.. we hope it happens so many things were supposed to happen like a super Wal Mart was supposed to be built out by lakeside several years ago and was supposed to be completed shortly after we moved here from Iowa(sight unseen) in 2015 but ground was never broken for that center or the other buisness that were to be put around it like a mall type area... We desperately need something more than the Wal Mart we have here now: staffing is horrible, if u thought Bob was rude LOL!!! U HAVENT SEEN ANYTHING.. And unfortunately they don't follow corporate rules, values, or proper care of customers either.. they are improperly trained, and treat customers like you are in their way.. I worked with Wal Mart and so did my daughter and poor Sam Walton is flip flop ping in his grave to see how poorly some of his companies have been ran, treated, and how poorly the employees here specially are being trained or not trained... My daughter was trained in Iowa in all areas and was A.P. department, picked this location purposely so that she could transfer she took a sizable pay cut and cut in insurances, vacation times ect.. was treated horribly here, and they kept trying to tell her wrong info because of their poor training... So many violations throughout the place u couldn't even imagine.. inside theft, possible embezzlement and that's just the tip of the iceberg my son also worked there and decided well they both decided they couldn't work for such a corrupt place and so she went and did her tests and training to be a security guard to move on to bigger and better things and my son went back to Iowa which was sad for us all but he is much happier there it's very hard here to make friends that are genuine and trustworthy and again have things to do family oriented and have things to do for the kids and just enjoy yourself without it involving a casino a bar or somewhere filled with smoke LOL but the scenery is gorgeous and some of the festivals are fun and they do have a great Fourth of July fireworks show and events also that air balloon festival is usually very cool to watch and participate in as well.. LOL sorry about the long message just wanted to add a few things there about our seedy little town and little secrets and big secrets and a lot of other things that there are to do here that don't cost any money or a little bit of money and just to enjoy the beautiful mountains and outside areas around Pahrump hiking mines the China day ranch is not far from here cathedral canyon which has been torn up bad but is still beautiful place and remarkable place that that man one man built that and just so places like that things in the mountains that you'll see cave systems and different things like that so lot of older history and the sand here is not actually sand but crushed crushed shells from all of the water that used to be above land here it was one of the biggest aqueducts in the United States and now I believe it still is an aqueduct for most of the United States but it's all underground now but that's why the sand is so just different here because it's crushed shells and that's why it acts differently than sand or mud or or a different kinds of things like that just a little interesting facts

      Hey Harper. I'm sorry in saying that was a private home I meant a private place people could rent and realize how my words could have been confusing. What I was saying is it was a private home for rent in Lakeside. It is owned by Lakeside and part of the complex. As for Golden Entertainment they own Lakeside, Gold Town and Pahrump Nugget. I worked for quite a while at the three golden properties. I worked there both before and after golden entertainment purchased the Terrible properties. That large house at Lakeside is known as The Boathouse. It was originally built by the Herbst family for them to use when they came out to Pahrump . If you look you'll notice the roof is actually the awning that goes over gasoline pumps (the Herbst family made their money from the Terrible Herbst gas stations) that's just been extended higher to make a 3 story building.

    I fly into LV on my annual 2019 vacation, rented a car & drove out to Pahrump for a night. I did so because I used to listen to Coast to Coast radio show when it was hosted by Art Bell, who lived in Pahrump. I heard about it enough times I decided to go see it. I stayed at the Nugget & played there; I describe it as ok. Ok rooms, low key casino w better odds than LV & friendly people. Everything was open in August 2019, but it still wasn't very busy. Not at all what you would call "real exciting." But the steakhouse in the Nugget was good, and I found a little country breakfast place in town that was good. I like wines, so on my way back to LV I stopped at 2 in the area. To my surprise, the wines were really good! The people at both wineries were friendly & helpful. They helped me put together a mail order box of wines, so they were waiting for me when I got home! My Pahrump Valley Winery self tour ended up being the best part of that trip. If you like wine, I encourage you to leave LV, take the 40 minute drive out there & give the Pahrump Valley Wineries a try!

    LOL Bob is my boss...he might be an ass, but you had been asked REPEATEDLY to stop filming before he got to you. It is common knowledge that you cannot film in a casino. It is a small courtesy to ask of our patrons. You filmed employees and patrons without their knowledge or consent and then posted it publicly online. Plenty of reasons to have had a negative visit, but being told to follow the rules 30 times before you finally got yelled at was on you. At least shed light on real problems. SMH.

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Hey Tweed. I'm not sure who you are or why you are posting this comment, but Bob was the first person I came in contact with and I didn't film after I was told not to. Additionally I didn't film the casino since I went in and filmed the bowling alley and Bob stopped me in the hallway before I ever got to the casino. The only thing I filmed near the casino was that short shot of the exit door. But to say I was told 30X to stop is ridiculous and a lie. I was asked to stop filming once and I did. The fact I called Bob out had nothing to do with that at all. It was how he behaved. But if someone is telling employees that I was asked numerous times to stop maybe I should contact Golden Entertainment corporate and file a complaint so they will pull the tapes to prove this story a lie. Please don't come on my channel and post lies. I complied with Bob and everyone else.

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I'll also add that despite Bob's rude behavior I didn't disparage the Nugget and I still showed and complimented the bowling alley, etc. Perhaps as an employee you can appreciate that. I have respect for workers like you and my ultimate goal is to highlight these places which should lead to more exposure and awareness. People like Bob are bad for business though.

      @@Milestomemories You absolutely filmed in the casino. The video is right here. As I said there are plenty of issues that could have been mentioned, we're all aware of that, but as someone who was on duty that day I'm also aware there was more to the visit than what you said. That's what's upsetting. At the root of it you did something you weren't supposed to and I don't believe for a second you weren't aware. People do things like this and it encourages others to do the same and then we're faced with the fallout. You filmed patrons and employees without knowledge or consent and posted their faces online. You had no right to do that. This wasn't a public gathering it was private property.
