      Wow I remember when I was there it was so packed with so many people and cars it took 45 minutes just to get into or out of the parking lot. It was twice as busy as the worst Christmas eve at the Mall I have ever seen. But look at it now.

    I have stayed at all three hotels several times. A great experience. I would usually stay a couple of nights at one of these three before heading into Vegas for a week since it was so cheap. Many great memories with friends and family. Stayed at Primadonna during its opening. Always loved to eat the jackpot special. Such a great deal. The pool at whiskey Pete's was the most fun. The shops at buffalo bills were fun, especially the magic shop. It was also fun to walk out into the desert. I did manage to aquire a Buffalo Bills proprietary IGT slot machine with the hotel and roller coaster artwork on it and the reels.

    Looooved that place back in the day. Took the kids when everything was working. Joe Montana's 1st revenge game as a Chief going against the Steve Young 49ers. 41/2 point dogs in KC. 440 to win 400 at the sports book. EZ MONEY 💰 Montana and company beat em straight up. Bottom line....weekend was paid for with all the kids pool hopping and riding the rides for free. Yep...a great memory and a fun weekend. Thanks Joe and Marcus😎👍

      Agreed. I always loved their log ride!

  • @TheBeardedAtheist
    @TheBeardedAtheist 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you were walking around my 10-year-old self started recalling exact spots where we stood, where my parents would stand outside and watch the log ride go into the casino or helping my family get a bag cart to unload our minivan and running around with friends just to be scolded for making too much noise lol. We would walk in; the sound of slot machines was everywhere but all I wanted to do was head to the left and get some awesome juicy prime rib at the buffet or go to the Magic Shop and buy crappy items that would get lost anyway. The log ride was always very fun to watch people go on and shooting those little targets to spray water at other people behind us on the next ride was awesome, some of the animatronics with guns had water that shot out of them when you hit the target. We drove through the area about 2 weeks ago and I was shocked how it looked when empty. Still closed, very very sad. Lots of childhood memories. The damn tram never worked even when I was a kid in the 90's and early 2000's. Apparently it was shut down, but my mom says I rode in it once. I so wanted to use it.
    A side story:
    My older sister ran away with her boyfriend in the early 2000's and was found here after she was playing on a slot machine close to the pool entrance (by where the towels were), won big and it made a lot of noise and when she was found to only be 16 after they asked for her ID and because she couldn't be in the casino without a parent and couldn't gamble at all she was taken to the security room where Vegas PD was called, and we had reported her missing to Buffalo Bills already and my parents somehow knew where she was and alerted security. It was a very long drive for my mom. She was so pissed off having to drive from SoCal to Vegas & back. Worst of all is that my sister didn't get any of her winnings lol.

    So the train crossed the freeway. It went over to the casino I’m assuming?? No remnants of a station across the freeway? So glad we got to experience this hotel in its hay day. Love love love the intertwining of the coaster, log flume and the train going through and around the incredible rock work. Such a tragedy!

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually believe that it just looped on the other side and came back so it was a roundtrip. It was less about transport and just the scenic train ride. Thus I believe there was no station at Whiskey Pete's.

  • @y2kbaja
    @y2kbaja 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I loved going there for the off-road races. We would hang out at the tree bar and ride the log ride...lowest score had to buy the next round. It was snowing outside and pretty cold after the splash down.

    Back in the 90s for over a decade I ran gambling junkets from California to Vegas every weekend from California. In the early 90s we would stop at Whiskey Pete's for a 4 hour casino stop. Our bus passengers got a buffet and could do some gambling. We would stay at Whiskey Pete's for 4 hours. After Buffalo Bill's opened in the late 90s we changed to a 6 hour stop. They would pay me some good money when I brought these bus people in. The casino stop money literally paid for the trip. 6 hour stop paid the most. Fun trips. We'd get there like around 11:30 am on at Saturday leave at 5:30 pm to get to the hotel in Vegas around 6. The passengers would then be on their own till like sunday afternoon. Then back on the bus. Some trips we would stop at another casino casino for two hours before heading back to California.

    I use to love Buffalo Bills as a kid and young teen when it opened; loved the theme and they had a cool arcade and the rides were fun. Still remember my first time riding Desparado. Then in the early 2000s saw the four tops in concert there, think it was one of the last years Levi Stubs still did concerts before getting sick and retiring. Last I was there was 2016, it was sad going there, almost all the tables were closed, and the few that were open had dealers and pit bosses that literally did not know how to do their jobs ... ie. they didn't know the rules of blackjack and couldn't count.

    I really hope this place opens again. As a 20 year resident of Las Vegas, I've since moved on, but in 2018 as a final farewell, we booked for 2 nights there, enjoyed the fabulous Mexican Restaurant, had the whole place, practically to ourselves. We enjoyed the giant Buffalo shaped pool in the day and on our 2nd day, we bought all day passes to ride the Log Ride and the Desperado. I believe the cost was $11 for a wrist band. My Husband, myself and our two kids, just sat in the Log ride, going on it, over and I've and over, literally for about 2hrs. We never had to get out, that's how barren it was and the Desperado, is a fantastic coaster, as you say and quite jarring as you mentioned. Still, I rode it at least 10x that day and our daughter rode it for HOURS. It was a surreal experience amd we knew that at the time, too. We felt it was in its last days and that was sad, because although the place needed some TLC, our room was clean, towels were fresh, water pressure was very good, the Mexican restaurant was excellent and the pool was in perfect condition, there just weren't people there. Over the years of living there, I can't tell you how many times we stopped on our vacations to California. It was always fun to ride that coaster and grab a bite on our way out or coming back.
    I'm really grateful for that last visit we had there, it was like our own private amusement park and pool.
    Really hope it opens again, as it really is a place worth saving🙏

    Good they're remodeling. When I went to the Comdex. I always stayed in primm valley. They could eat up Vegas hotels. The big thing I think they should have done was offer a hour or 2 hour or so buss service back and forth from the strip. They had what they called and employee buss. It was okay. But only like once in the morning and in the evening. If I owned all three properties. I Would want everybody know this is the old vegas baby. Cheap rooms, good east. Even a great arcade for the kids. When I was wondering though Buffalo bills. The arcade was packed. I thought it was also strange they added a fashion show mall. Though I don't know if that is by the same owner or not. Could make it like a MIni Vegas. Esp. now that the showboats are gone.

    Back when it was the place to go when we got there from driving in from Cali we would go straight to Cafe and eat prime rib and breakfast at 1 am and play keno at the dinner table then they turned it into a Denny's and they would be closed when u came in the arcade in Buffalo bills was huge that's what attracted family you could buy the day pass for the rides and plus arcade kids were busy all day while you could Gamble then terrible Herb's turned the arcade to the size of a closet and stopped running the rides during weekdays they put more casino machines in where the arcade was I believe it was a huge mistake cause now the family trip for kids there wasn't for kids anymore 😞 I believe they lost a huge local base from Cali after those changes we would never go to the strip buffalo had everything thing you needed for an excellent family vacation I believe after this pandemic if they went back to their roots and focused on the kids it could be a gold mine I love buffalo bills

    Interesting video, Shawn. It's so sad to see Buffalo Bill's closed. It must have been nice in its day. I remember passing through Primm in the 1980's on the way from LA to Las Vegas, but this resort wasn't there at that time. I was curious about the Desperado, so I watched someone's video of riding it from 10 years ago. Sorry to mention that, but was interesting to see how rough-riding it was even back then. It was interesting to see the parkings lots full of cars too. Hopefully this pandemic ends soon, and that someone will have the funds to fix up the place and re-open it.
    Thank you for another awesome look at 'what once was' in Primm NV.

It had been years since I was on one and always passed in on my drive, after all it was a bathroom stop and a chance to possibly strike it rich on the way to Sin City. This makes me so sad. I think the first time i went to Vegas was 1995, the Nevada Landing was still there. After that we started going every 6-8 weeks to stay at Buffalo Bills for the great concerts. My kids loved the arcade, log ride and the historic coaster. Over the years they just let all 3 of the hotels go downhill. I think they've been sold twice, and everytime i was hoping they would bring them back. They'll fix up a few rooms at each hotel then call it a day.
