  • Come join us for a full #tour of #Luxor on the #Las #Vegas #Strip! This was filmed in August 2020! Recently there have been rumors about the possible closure and #demolition of this property! milestomemorie...
    While I don't necessarily think the rumors are 100% true, this hotel does struggle so I thought it was worth touring to show you why it's a true icon. From an iconic building to incredible theming, Luxor might just surprise you! I know by the end you'll have seen something at Luxor that you've never seen before! Also stick around for the section in the hotel stairs! As you might expect they can't go straight up and down, but you'll have to watch to find out how cool that area is! And yes we'll ride the sideways elevators too!

    I really like the themed resorts from the 90s, where every building is unique. Now all the places look like a fancy high rise from any major city in the world, Vegas has lost a bit of its uniqueness; need to bring back some neon lights again. Loved Luxor as a kid, they had a great arcade back then.

      I agree! I understand the move towards more modern generic properties, but I don think there is room for theming in casinos. I wouldn't be surprised if coming out of this whole situation that Vegas finds a whole different way to reinvent itself. Maybe themed casinos will make a comeback!

      I really liked the "old" casinos of the 70s. Top music, comedy and burlesque shows. It was elegant and classy back then, people actually got dressed up when they went out and the strip was wide open and free to speed down past all the limo's with the top down. Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Jerry Lewis, Dianna Ross every big name in entertainment on the marquis.

Before the food court was remodeled, it had Swenson's ice cream, Little Caesar's, and I think it had a McDonald's. They invested a lot of many in the new signage outside of the theater and the lighting around and on the Pyramid so I doubt they would close it. I do see it being sold to Caesar’s or something but I think the property got sold to the company that owns the cosmopolitan. As for the theming, it is one of the last made heavily themed casinos on the strip.

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They did spend a lot on the signage, but that was awhile ago. You are correct that they just recently completed an overhaul of the side lights on the pyramid. They look fantastic BTW! As for theming, it is one of the last to still have theming, but it was actually one of the earlier themed casinos. Following Luxor (plus MGM Grand and Treasure Island which all opened within a couple of months of each other) you had an explosion of themed casinos including Monte Carlo, NYNY, Bellagio, Palazzo, Venetian, Paris, Aladdin/Planet Hollywood for example.

    Luxor and Excalibur DEFINITELY needs to be torn down. They can't update/remodel the 2 hotels and remove the theme feature. I constantly hear complaints from my customers about the rooms and how bad the food is at both places. The land is now in prime location to the stadium too. It's time for a change

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Who knows maybe themed casinos will make a comeback. The Luxor rooms are small, but they could make them a bit nicer. It's never going to be a luxury hotel, but there are a plethora of 4 and 5 star hotels already. No doubt both properties need help, but I'd say Excalibur is less of a loss. And I say that as someone who has memories of playing on the midway there when in 1990 when it opened. No doubt the properties are going to see major changes in the coming years if they avoid demolition.

I STAYED THERE TWO WEEKS AGO IN THE TOWER KING SUIT AND DID FINALLY GO RIDE THE ELEVATOR ON THE PYRIMID SIDE FOR THE EXPERIENCE AND THE VIEW AND THAT WAS AWESOME BUT I DIDN'T THINK TO WALK THE OUTSIDE AREA AND TO CHECK OUT THE POOL🤦🤷... THANKS TO YOU, I WILL ON MY OCTOBER VISIT! I USUALLY STAY AT THE WYNN AND COSMO BUT I WILL SAY I DEFINITELY LOVED THE LUXOR MORE THEN THE COSMO, THE WYNN IS JUST MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PLACE BUT THE LUXOR IS ALSO A FUN AND GREAT PLACE FOR ME!! yrs ago Luxor had a sports book lounge for sports betting w/individual tv monitors to watch games plus the MSNBC chnl for getting stock prices like if you were a day trader...anyway if you closed your eyes for about 5 seconds you had security on you...Luxor was notorious about this where a tourist was a nobody...

    I stayed there August 12-17, and plan to return during Thanksgiving weekend. It was great, not too crowded, and my favorite part : they have the classic "Alien" Slot Machine there in the big cabinet format! ^_^ The only other place I saw one on the Strip was New York New York, but they only have it in the High Limit Slots section..

    I agree with you, the Luxor is one of the few LV properties where the allure of seeing/touching its (still impressive) structural engineering is a driving force for visitation. Your view up the side really was impressive and reminds me of what I always did when I lived in New York in the 80s, which was to pause at the corner of the World Trade Center tower where it met the sidewalk. . . and look up. They say that tags you as "a tourist" but that was nonsense: I never ever tired of that view. Glad I found your channel. I am enjoying these tours. Thank you!

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man I wish I could do that with the World Trade Center. My first trip to New York was in 2007 and unfortunately at that time there was only a hole in the ground as they were beginning to build the underground portion of Freedom Tower. I'm glad you enjoy the tours and my perspective.

    Went 2 times in Vegas, in 2007 and 2009. We stayed at the luxor the first time and new York New York the second. I loved our stay in luxor and the pool area is great, I remember a fun thing during our stay, it was a violent monsoon storm during our first night and it was literally raining in the room we called the lobby and they difficulty believed us. But the next morning one guy of the service came check the room and hardly believed it but the floor was damped. So they changed us to a better room without any charge and gave my money back for the convenience. It was a nice stay.
    Cheers from France

    Ah, luxor, stay in a room in the pyramid and you will hit your head on the slanted glass trying to look down outside. It's really cool standing on the hallway room balconys looking down with nothing below you. Have been going there since it first opened, my best friend's dad worked on the huge light on the top that could be seen from space. The pyramid had lots of plumbing problems and the foundation started to sink on one side, they ran cables along the side while repairing the foundation. It's a cool unique place to go with a great arcade game room for those who don't want to loose all their money in the casino. It connects to excaliber, but it always seemed cheap over there.

    • @Milestomemories
      @Milestomemories  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha those windows are strange to get used to. I hope they can fix the issues the building has without tearing it out. I also agree the atrium is amazing! Thanks for watching.

    We were just there this past weekend, and it was horrible. We booked a pyramid room and moved us to a tower room a supposed upgrade. I swear the room was smaller than what we had booked. Had to ask several times for extra glasses and towels as there was five of us. No blankets on the beds just a couple sheets. Avoid trying to get to your room between 3 and 6 the lines are like standing in line at Disneyland long. Also avoid trying to get down to the casino from 930am to 11am we waited twenty minutes for a free elevator as we were on the 3rd floor. The pool was fine but don't plan on getting a drink as they are using waitresses and it took about 45 minutes to an hour after we were able to order to get our one drink. We were very disappointed as we have stayed here before and have loved it. Sadly don't think we will be staying here again.
