  • After the Dragon Age The Veilguard gameplay trailer I have to say, I want more. The Dragon Age Veil Guard gameplay reaction has been a bit mixed, and I have thoughts on why. What I'm most interested in is Dragon Age Veil Guard companions gameplay.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. The fourth major game in the Dragon Age franchise, The Veilguard will be the sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Earthworm Jim is probably the funniest game ever.

They definitely showcased it poorly. I get they wanted a setpiece, but having one ability spammed over and over just isn't interesting.
Its seemingly moved to more of an action game vs RPG. Origins for sure was way more of an RPG.

I'm still really excited for Veilguard.
DA:Origines, DA:Exodus and DA:Inquisition all feel like totally different games, taking place in the same world. I enjoyed them all equally, just for different reasons.
I expect DA:Veilguard to be just as great, just different again.
The trailer at SGF was cringe. The gameplay was from level 1, basically the tutorial, so I don't expect to learn much from that, other than it's pretty.
But in the interviews, they are saying mostly the right things. That writing and characters matter, and the game will react significantly to player choice. There will be no more irrelevant quests.
Whether or not they do all this, what I'm reading is that they have LISTENED.
I still think it will be good. I'm flexible on gameplay of the writing is great 👍

if marketing is mishandled yes unfortunately it can doom a franchise and a studio i want bioware to succeed every rpg has a certain level of strategy not every rpg is an rts

DA:O was best story / character wise (and no forced romancing), Inquistion gameplay wise, DA2 was just a abyssmal failure, static very boring linear maps, bad story, bad characters and that's the first example I can give of enforced diversity in gaming, with Andres suddenly coming at you naked out of nowhere so the game can make sure you know he's gay (the only redeemable feature of DA:2 was the auto attacks for mages being both functional and looking super good). Because you know the fact he was frantically trying to avange his mage butt buddy wasn't enough (i'm so glad they toned that down again in Inquistion like they did with Origin, it had a similiar story in it without shoving it in my face). From what I seen from Veilguard, they are at least making the same mistake asin DA2 setting wise, can't find much info on the story though.
My major gripe with Dragon Age at this point is the consistancy, each game is totally different gameplay wise, each other the individual games has it's own merits and quircks, problem is I cannot tell you if the sequal is better because it's not a direct sequal, it's just a different game in the same universe.
EDIT : Wrong reason to play RPG's btw , for combat, you do it for the choices and how they effect the ending, which is why DA:O was so loved, because of large amount of choices, which led to different results and also different combinations leading to different results. Biggest part of DA:O is near the end at the city battle, where you deploy forces you recruited, the boss battle itself doesn't even determine who will die and survive, you deploying your troops and who you assign to do what will determine that. You're thinking and wanting Dynasty Warriors in a RPG, when the focus in a RPG isn't combat, but story and choice.
