I have lenes that produce donut bokeh, but I have never seen a lens produce Swirl Bokeh before. Looks to be sharp, nice lens. Thanks for sharing. enjoy your channel.
I recently bought the grandprix version. The Rear element was scratchy or there was separation.Alrtough it is very sharp and makes beautiful Images. Little flare here and there. Great 3D effect and sharpness.
Those former eastern block lenses that you show photographic examples of never cease to surprise me with their quaulity. Keep up the best photo channel on the internet!
I just ordered a Helios 44M-4 from Poland, should be here next week. Also looking at a Helios 44-2 which also produces a really nice swirly bokeh. I've already ordered adapters for my Fuji X mount and Nikon F mount but I understand with the Nikon F mount you can't focus the M42 lenses to infinity. Apparently Nikon has a different flange to sensor distance than other popular brands. Other sellers of Russian lenses on Ebay have been from Belarus and Ukraine. We'll see how long they take to get to Virginia USA. :)
I've been toying with the idea of getting myself a Canon 7 rangefinder. It has an M39 mount, and they made this lens in M39 as well. Hmm... :) +1 to the buying from Ukraine advice. Have bought several cameras and lenses from Ukrainians since the start of that stupid war, and have a Helios 44 enroute now. Have had 0 issues thus far.
You are right when you call it a masterpiece. This lens got the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Brussels (Expo 58) in 1958. Many photographers believe that the MIR-1 is better (in terms of characteristics) in the first edition, under the M-39 with the inscription “Grand Prix Brussels”. This is because quality control was better in the 50s and early 60s than later, when production volumes increased dramatically. And as for vignetting on your photos: there is the Mir-1 version, which has a diverging meniscus as the first lens, which significantly reduces vignetting when shooting at an open aperture. Resolution according to specifications (center/edge): 45/23 lines/mm. Pleasure to see enthusiasts here. Greetings from Russia!
Stunning clarity and color. The Russians and Germans where/are masters with glass. Leica with a master lens is a combo difficult to beat. I wonder if a Nikon mount adaptor would be easier to get…..oh, custom 3D printed adaptor. Well he needs to start printing Nikon adaptors. Would make a great wedding lens.
This lens seems to be a pure jewell! I do agree with you: we have to support Ukrainian citizens by buying some lenses or cameras to them. I've bought some rangefinder cameras such as Fed 3, Zorki 4 or Kiev 4 am to them, and I've always been charmed with thoses little masterpieces. Keep on doing such an intesting content. Cheers from France!
Do You have a link to the 3D Printer Adapter Maker for this lens. I have the L and M and Nikon and Sony and Canon, etc. Cheers! PS I sent you an Email for the 3D Maker.
@@CarmineTavernaPhotography I will get the lens by late August. I have ordered two adapters one for Sony and the other one for Nikon. Thanks again! Cheers!
I know. I have had one since the 1970s. They work great for old tube gear as they are. I don't use it much anymore as I use a Proiii with a KM184 mic. My first photography interest came about in 1959 when I learned to process B&W film. The gear I had back then was not all that good. Today I use a Sony A7Rii and have more than 48 vintage lenses. I have been geting into vintage anamorphic projector lenses lately, both 16mm and 35mm. There is a video from Siberia that uses the MIR-1V and the Meopta 2X. That is how I found your channel. I was looking up the MIR.
