    They work well, but, the shoe usually isn't the problem.... try replacing a broken spring when Hayden doesn't answer the phone or their emails for months at a time.... If you can find suitable replacements, let us all know.

    Have a Hayden on my Twin Cam 103. Works great but the chirping noise is loud and annoying. Going to remove it for an older manual style tensioner. Love the convenience but it sounds terrible.

    the co. Hayden made a one-off auto-primary adjuster for 72 Sportster, they sent it to me for free to test-use after signing a liability release. the bike ran and shifted smoothly.

      Got an actual Hayden M6 recently but the pad is black. Box says Hayden enterprises and made in USA

    Amazon apparently doesn't sell Hayden. Look at the reviews of these half price knockoffs. they are breaking.

      Right you are, Christopher. I don't know what has happened with the availability of the actual "Hayden made" tensioners.

      @@contact4mwy7 I just got one from J&P Cycles (just shipped, not in my possession yet) and it cost a little more but it was in stock, so there's that.

    The ones on Ebay for $50-60USD are probably made in china. At least the ones that will tell you country of origin are.

    Twin cam tensioner problem was not from the springs. It was the chain being unpolished.

    Mine clicks bad when I’m at a dead stop coming out of first, if I rev up and let the clutch out it doesn’t make noise but if I lug it on accident it makes a lot of noise!

      @@gabrielzazueta2218 Mine taps also, but I can live with it. I had taken out the Hayden and put the factory original back in, but I have since put the Hayden back and it's working fine other than the tapping at idle.

    Nice wear in nothing wrong with it, move your fingers over it, didn't say if you felt anything sharp/pokey so all good.

    not blowing smoke but I'm on my 14 th Harley every one had a M6 as long as they made one for it use Mobil 1 10 w 40 in my primary I had a Heritage Softail Classic with 86,000 on the M6 in 4 years never a problem

    Hind sight is 2020 but looking back is there any other tensioner or tensioner brand that you would recommend, or wish you would have used? I ordered a baker attitude adjuster and it was pricy, but I just don’t want to have any problems in the future.

      @@markdurham252 i haven't heard anything bad about any of Baker's products. Just follow their instructions and you should be good to go!

    Stay away from the cheaper ones, I bought an off brand M6 and I couldn't even get it in the bike (2012 Ultra) The only reason I tried it was the Hayden was out of stock at my supplier.

      @@contact4mwy7 No problem, lots of junk for sale out there. Anything for a buck these days, but too bad they didn't use a tape measure before they built it. lol. I still have it it is actually good for wall art if you are building a "Wall of shame" in your shop or something.

      Are u sure it was the M6 BT-07? They do come in other models. I'd like to see a Pic of it if possible.

      @@richardbadish6990 It was a copy of a BT-07 probably made in China or Tiawan, but obviously not measured, If it was an earlier model(which I have also used in pre 07 bikes ) it would not fit at all. This one fit, but not enough room for the springs to work. I've also seen the phony ones explode on people due to crappy materials. For me it's brand name all the way from here on in!

    i put the cheaper one in my bike last week.....it looks just like the hayden.....but who knows maybe not as good.....time will tell....

    Is Hayden enterprises still in business ? The M6-BT01 seems to be discontinued. So it kind of worries me are replacement shoes and springs going to be available as they wear out?

      That's a good question. I have tried to contact them more than once and didn't get to speak with anyone. This was a few years ago shortly after I bought my unit. I have seen knock-offs being sold on Ebay, but according to some comments their quality is questionable.

    Hi mark, I was wondering If you had inspected the splines on the clutch hub, since the last time you had the clutch and comp off the primary ?

      I have not had the clutch off the shaft since swapping the compensator. It's still holding together many miles later.

    Hello Mark, I too am running only one spring as I found 2 really tight like the outgoing factory tensioner. Are you worried that if the spring breaks there would be no backup. That's my only worry as it has been running for 5000 miles with no issues.

      It could happen, but I'm hoping I will hear or even feel a difference if the spring does go. With the smaller gap I have mine set at it shouldn't be too much extra play without the spring, similar to the gap on a manual tensioner. That's where I've got mine shimmed. It's still performing fine as of last check with the primary open.

    Do they make one for old twin cams?

      Hello Papi, yes, there are Hayden tensioners available for older twin cams. A quick Google search showed models available through RevZilla, J&P Cycles, and Dennis Kirk. There are a few variations, so one has to make sure they are purchasing the correct model for their machine.

    Hey I noticed in the picture of the compensator I bought it comes with a T70 bolt instead of a 13/16, did you notice that also?

      No, I didn't see the one you bought yet. That's the newer style compensator that takes oil from a plastic funnel that is epoxied to the Primary cover. Is it too late to cancel your order?

      @@Bmcdanman123 make sure he doesn't sell you one exactly like the one currently on your motorcycle. As I posted before, you want 2012-2017 , with a regular hex head bolt.

      I put a hayden m6 on my 03 twincam . It lasted around 6500 miles.The shoe came apart in chunks. Put the factory adjustable shoe back in. Worked good untill it didn't.

    Hey man can you tell me if the Hayden m6 is still doing ok? and I was wondering if you put the later screaming Eagle compensator, I found a used one on eBay may be on, but I’ll have to swamp the stator rotor also? The stock one for my 08 had the spring housing built in, is this correct ? What was the issue will all the parts bolt right up? The one on eBay I’m looking at came off a 2012- 2015 bike? I’m wanting to change to a new tensioner, and the compensator also? Thanks

      The M6 primary chain tensioner is still working fine. Some say beware of Chinese knockoffs. Yes, the magnet rotor will also have to be upgraded to use the Screamin Eagle compensator, which I have done. This is a 96 cubic inch engine, correct?

      @@contact4mwy7 yes I’ve kinda done upgrade to 103 cylinders and put in some mild cams, it’s little more stronger , not interested in a race bike just a mountain climber here in north Georgia, you have the part number for the stator rotor?

      I’m having starter issues and that clunk sound like you had when starting amd stopping engine, I love this bike I want to put all not necessarily new parts in but better, I also believe my starter is bad, gonna replace compensator, tensioner, and starter, even do a new belt.

      Naw I’m gonna pay 140 for the Hayden brand tensioner, I’m just little confused with the stator rotor and will I have to grind the primary cover even if i remove the inner and install the later model one?

      @@Bmcdanman123 I do not have the part number, but I am seeing a number of them online listed as "Alternator Rotor Harley 11-16 Touring, 12-17 Dyna, 12-17 Softail"

    I have a CVO . Is the tensioner stronger standard? Will garden be better in my 110 CVO ultra 2007

      I am not familiar with what model tensioner was put in the CVO editions. I suspect the same tensioners as the non CVO. Maybe someone will answer after opening up their primary for a look.

    They slate the AMF era but these twin cams and M8's have so many serious faults...that's exactly why I stopped buying them and bought an 81 shovelhead

      I’ve got 97k miles on my 2012 Glide Classic. Refreshed with OEM cams, tensioners and timken bearings at 85k miles. Damn good bike.

      @@thomasobrien5976 About half the mile rode with the Hayden and half with the OEM tensioner.
      But no problems people say with the over-stressed primary. I beat on the bike over the years, but it’s mostly old man riding.
      Doc Harley has a good video about tensioners.
      My choice would be the Baker, but not for $300+.
      I miss the old style manual which is on my 98 Springer. Keeps it simple.
      Check every 10k. No worries.
