Howdy from Tennessee, USA. You saved me with this video man. I have a 1080p 90inch tv that was hit by lightning and the hdmi input was no longer working but the VGA input was working great. Stopped me from getting rid of a perfectly good giant tv to run my PS4 on. Really appreciate that my guy!
Same man, my tv got striked by a lightning too and only the vga input is working..but when I did a research, I found that my 55 inch tv motherboard was really cheap..gonna replace it soon.
actually you dont need a HDMI switch on this thing, PS4 is just not providing enough power to the HDMI adapter that's why its doing that. I confirmed this by plugging the adapter directly on my laptop and see the HDCP status, and it yes HDCP is Activated on the adapter alone. what I did is that since my HDMI adapter have a micro usb port on it for separate power, plug it in on a USB charger and then tried again on PS4, this time it worked. for those who were interested what adapter I used, its a Vention HDMI to VGA adapter. its only 5bucks shipped.
This is just perfect! Worked instantly on my LG FLATRON W1943C VGA Monitor. I have tried like everything, nothing was working. But, after connecting hdmi switcher and giving 5V power supply, it just works instantly. Using it for about 3 hours now, works like a charm. Thank you so much - you are just awesome!

Thank you so much bruv. At first I was wondering what did I do wrong with my setup. Turns out I was plugging the power lead of the HDMI switch on the IR slot, and not on the DC 5V slot. After slotting it correctly, it works like a charm.

You don’t need a HDMI switch. Just buy a HDMI to VGA adapter with a micro USB port and connect it to your PS4 and monitor. Then get a micro USB cable and plug it in the port on the adapter and connect the other side to a smartphone charger or in the PS4 USB port. This worked for me and it’s probably cheaper as well.

Guys just an update on this video, only buy the adapter if your monitor has a headphone jack. If your not bothered about the speakers just buy a hdmi to vga cable for about £8.00 ($10) which still allows you to use headphones. Even still, if you really want speakers just plug them into your controllers headphone jack via aux and you’ll still get a perfectly good sound! Also if you want a mic with that just get a mic to headset spliter :)
I ordered the stuff off Amazon and got it but for some reason in the middle of playing a game the monitor turns black and on again out of nowhere....sometimes it does that like 3× a minute.....what can I do?
Ive got the same problem, but the solution for was to put the hdmi cable from the ps4 into input 1. I was experiencing the problem on any other input except no 1
@@Bungeee03 Tbh, I don't know enough about generating an HDMI signal, but I know that i don't need a switch when connecting my PS3. I do need 1 to connect an Xbox 360 and PS4. I also just plug the switch's powerleed (?) in the console to power it. I'm glad it works though with this workaround.

Doing something similar but without the hdmi switch. You don't actually need it BUT you need to boot the PS4 when you hook it up the first time on safe mode and select 'change display' which will switch the PS4 to just force the hdmi signal to non compliant display devices (you can actually hear the PS4 clicking when it reboots after selecting 'change display'). I'm not sure if it works on all old vga/dvi monitors but it works on my old ones which dates back in the early 2000's (I personally tried this on 4 different old skool LCD/LED monitors and it worked in all cases for me) so yeah. Just an FYI to folks that's tight on budget might wanna give this a go first. Note that MOST old/non hdmi compliant monitors like stated in this video will ONLY output to 720p at best unless your using a more modern monitor which supports that aspect/resolution. Some only supports 480p even so just take your monitors specs and from there you should be able to tell which works best for your particular case maybe. Just make sure you don't force it to 1080p because you'll end up having to do it all over again (boot PS4 in safe mode>change display>reboot PS4>set to 720p) if you do get too curious like myself LOL It's a bit of a pain in the bum at first but once set, my PS4 can auto detect which one I have hooked up. It somehow remembers which devices uses what which took me by surprise tbh. Especially when switching from a modern TV to an old skool LCD (simply by just switching the hdmi cables between the two) I figure you needed to do it each time which I was willing to do but apparently no need for that given you have set it once and the PS4 can detect the device. I've even tried it on a REALLY old 17" Sony TFT LCD 1028x768 4:3 PAL I had lying around via VGA. Worked beautifully 👌🏻 to my amazement 😅 Anyway, give it a shot and see how you fare. GL!
MagmaCreamy Sry m8, I don't have the expertise let alone the right hardware/software afaik to do that. But it's essentially the steps on this vid except the hdmi switch box. You can supplement that with just the built-in ps4's safe mode. Once you've booted in safe mode, just select the change display. The PS4 should reboot again and you should see the same result. But those adapters, switch box, cables, etc... does come in handy in future hardware changes. GL!
I have an issue where the screen keeps flicking on and off any ideas? Solved the issue: tossed the factory hdmi cord and replaced it with a kolife cord. Guess there really is a difference between cheap and expensive hdmi cords
boi no I had my ps4 plugged into the hdmi for a projector and my cat managed to rip it out of the ceiling so the hdmi port got screwed so I decided to start using the vga instead

Kim Lee it’s just vga is more of an outdated technology, it’s an analog signal so it’s not as good, and obviously it doesn’t carry sound

You need to use the adapter/convertor thing that's powered by USB. You can plug the USB into the PS4 and it'll still all work

Just make sure you don't force it to 1080p because you'll end up having to do it all over again (boot PS4 in safe mode>change display>reboot PS4>set to 720p) if you do get too curious like myself LOL
It's a bit of a pain in the bum at first but once set, my PS4 can auto detect which one I have hooked up. It somehow remembers which devices uses what which took me by surprise tbh. Especially when switching from a modern TV to an old skool LCD (simply by just switching the hdmi cables between the two)
I figure you needed to do it each time which I was willing to do but apparently no need for that given you have set it once and the PS4 can detect the device.
I've even tried it on a REALLY old 17" Sony TFT LCD 1028x768 4:3 PAL I had lying around via VGA. Worked beautifully 👌🏻 to my amazement 😅

Sry m8, I don't have the expertise let alone the right hardware/software afaik to do that.
But it's essentially the steps on this vid except the hdmi switch box.
You can supplement that with just the built-in ps4's safe mode.
Once you've booted in safe mode, just select the change display.
The PS4 should reboot again and you should see the same result.
But those adapters, switch box, cables, etc... does come in handy in future hardware changes.

Solved the issue: tossed the factory hdmi cord and replaced it with a kolife cord. Guess there really is a difference between cheap and expensive hdmi cords
boi no I had my ps4 plugged into the hdmi for a projector and my cat managed to rip it out of the ceiling so the hdmi port got screwed so I decided to start using the vga instead

Instead of getting a phone charger or any other device you can just plug the USB in your own ps4 it works. Thanks for the video tho, best quality image for me now.
