    Useful. As an older person entirely committed to the Apple ecosystem, I love how my Apple devices work together seamlessly. Having grown up with basic computers with few system resources, I still to this day close applications through a misplaced fear of running out of memory. And much as I love Apple, I do get overwhelmed with the constant updates and changes. Mind you, my recollection of endless Windows updates keeps me grounded - yuck 🤪

    Hi Dylan, Great as always. Don’t know if you know this one, but I was incessant that I couldn’t put a folder in the dock and just have it open in a finder window when clicked. My work around, create an alias of the folder and put the alias in the dock. Not pretty, but it works and saves a step. Cheers!

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you press and hold (or right-click) on any folder in the dock, there is an option at the bottom that says "open in finder"... once you get the hang of that, you won't need the alias or the extra step!

    • @jimtipton8888
      @jimtipton8888 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheMacWhisperer Thanks, but the benefit of the alias is you don’t have to right click and click, you can just click. Appreciate the input.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      True, but then you eliminate the ability to navigate and open files from the dock WITHOUT opening the finder... so it solves one problem but creates another... using an actual folder gives you both options...
      Neither way is wrong, just depends on your preferences. most of the time I just want to open something in the folder, not go to the finder itself, so I prefer the actual folder and the occasional right click, but I am glad you found a solution that works for you!

    • @jimtipton8888
      @jimtipton8888 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheMacWhisperer Agreed! For me it’s the convenience of being able to drag and drop a file to another app and I don’t believe that’s possible unless you open in finder. I do that often enough that the alias (minus any label, you have to hover or go with muscle memory) is the option that fits. I wish there were a setting to fix a folder to “open finder”, but the alias works.

      Well, if there's anything I can do to push you over to the light side of technology, let me know. I watch people struggle with their PCs and Android devices, wishing they were easier, and in many cases they don't know how much easier it could be if they would just switch to Apple.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Walk me through how you did it and what went wrong. It totally works on MacOS 15...
      Here are some pointers....
      1. Make sure you grab the applications folder from inside your HD on the sidebar
      2. Make sure you drag it to the right of the far right dividing line
      3. Make sure you don't drop the folder on another folder, but hold it between items so the dock makes space for it...
      Let me know how it goes...

    Can you add iCloud favorites on MacOS like you do on the iPadOS?

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can easily drag any folders you want into the dock, or you can use the sidebar on the Finder window to set up your favorite locations easily. I recommend doing it on the sidebar of the Finder rather than on the dock itself since the dock is made more for applications than for folders, but you can do it either way.
      If you haven't watched this video about mastering the Finder, it will fill in some of the gaps you're struggling with since the Files app on the iPhone and the iPad is significantly less powerful than the Finder app on the computer.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use a third-party HTML signature tool called email signature rescue... you can find it here: emailsignaturerescue.com
      There are lots of sites that can do that for you... or you can even hire someone on Fiverr or Upwork to create one for you, eliminating the need for a subscription.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You just need to make sure that your devices are on the same Apple ID and on the same Wi-Fi. What devices are you using? Some of them may be out of date, but most should be able to do handoff. You may also want to check that under Settings > General > AirPlay and Continuity, things are turned on properly.
      Make sure you are using the Apple Mail app on both of your devices and that you have properly configured Messages on both devices. Then you should be good to go.

    Just so you know the Continuity season doesn't on my Macbook pro When I open a mail message my MacBook pro dock doesn't change a bit?

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If continuity isn't working at all, you should check the settings on all of your devices. They need to be connected to the same Apple ID account and in the same Wi-Fi network. They also need to have Bluetooth turned on. If those three things are set and your devices are relatively current, you should get that option. If you're still not finding it, go into Settings > General > Handoff & AirDrop on your phone and computer and make sure you have handoff turned on.

    Uh oh, I found an issue. If I right click on "mail", it does not give me the options you are showing. For example, the option to "start new email" is not there.

    • @TheMacWhisperer
      @TheMacWhisperer  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The mail app has to be open for it to work, so if you do not see the dot under mail, you should click on it, and then you should see the options.
