RECIPE:
Ingredients:
1 Butternut Squash
1 lb Ground Turkey
1 Large Russet Potato, peeled
1 handful chopped kale
1 can pumpkin puree
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup water
Peel and slice russet potato and 1/2 of the butternut squash. Roast in oven at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until slightly soft.
Brown turkey in soup pan.
Add chopped kale and stir until wilted.
Add pumpkin puree, squash, and potatoes.
Mix in chicken broth and water. Add more if needed for consistency.
Let cool before feeding to your pups!

This shouldn't hurt Chels's feelings. The way "starving" dogs' minds work, they run to the first one they have eyes on, they eat it, and then eat the other one. In Cooper's mind, he wasn't picking one, he was chowing down on two bowls of stuff he doesn't normally get.
To actually figure out what dogs choose, a repetition of experiment has to be done several times, and the dog only gets the first one he or she chooses each time. After a while, they'll learn they are only getting one, not both, and so actually start using their brain to decide, "Well, if I'm not going to get both, which one do I want?"
It takes a bunch of times before they actually choose one, and even then, much like people, they'll occasionally want the other one for variety's sake.

I did this between two treats for my dogs, and after I did this for awhile one of my dogs were just looking back and forth back and forth, for like, a minute before choosing one. Soo, it works.

Yeah, as an owner of an absolute glutton, a labrador, coop's reaction doesn't surprise me. I've never heard of any retriever who doesn't eat like his life depends on it, no matter what it is.

Put the soup in ice cube trays and freeze it. When its treat time either warm them or give as a cool treat. You may want to immersion blend it before freezing or regular blend.
