My favourite one is the Purple Faze, but not for Fuzz sounds which I don´t like. I like it as an overdrive with the guitar volume down. When you turn down the volume in the guitar, does the volume from the amp get lower or is just as loud but cleaner? Thanks for your videos!
The 1.5 is a long time favourite, not very available in any credible form until recently. With these specific designs, I have to go with the consensus that the FF has certain advantages; like to hear the 1.5 with a serious SAG voltage (maybe 3 V?), & see if that lights it up.I know it makes a huge difference on some of my more vintage pedals.Beautiful job, as usual.
Love this episode. I was looking for this comparison for quite a while Fuzz Face vs Tone bender. Someone finally did it!. The germaniun bender sounds a lot my soulbender which suppose to be mark iii...interesting... Fuzz face is my favorite but I love to have them both and hear different tones... You need to have at least 2 different fuzzes like these 😁
Great video, Budda! I like your playing and your approach. Nice no nonsense content. Dang it, I'm still undecided between the Purple Face and the Copenhagen.. did your ever tried them in front of a crunchy amp/ edge of breakup? Reuss effects earn some serious reputation, I got two, both sound stellar!
Hi Budda! I was hoping to hear them stacked (Jay Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. does this with Big muff (rhythm) and hits the tone bender for leads. Never heard it done with Fuzz face+Tone Bender. Also never had google clean up with tone bender. Interesting. Mine is the Boss. Enjoyed!
@@BuddaGuedes This will not give correct operation because of the buffered bypass of the Boss pedal. It will make the fuzz boxes sound thin and tinny. By design they are made to be connected directly to a guitar. The guitar's electronics are in a way part of the electronic circuit of the fuzz box.
You can't run the buffered pedals anywhere NEAR the Ge without cutting the harmonic content in half,- I've seen such suggestions using buffered (Boss) pedals with Wahs. TBH, read repeatedly how important buffers are in longer chains, and I've tried about a dozen, and ALL of them do BAD things to many types of drive circuits,- not just Ge.At best, it's a concession to practicality , and to pretend the difference is nominal is nonsense. The solution seems to be to either get it way down stream,- or run wet/dry, keeping the dry, drive section buffer free. Think I've been objective in my accessments, and though I know in a live situation the difference would be much less apparent, - it's one of those things you can't un hear . Prob have to go with the herd on the Phase, with the rejoinder that the Analogman version of the 1.5,(Sunbender), is both more open , and has more tooth than the Reuss. The AM has a bias, which I think gives it more flexibility, whatever the specific composition. This seemed to be similar to my impression of the vintage Sola circuits. As stated, so much depends on pickups and amp,- and, of course, - anything else in between.
nice sounding tele/// BUT Why, Why, Why are you using a psu? you know that the battery forms a part of the circuit... CRANK THE AMP so it sings , throw away the eminince 10's and then play with each fuzz for weeks without turning it off. thenyou'll have a passable demo. congrats on buying some fuzz pedals tho.
I’m not using the psu on all the pedals. The Germanium Bender doesn’t sound good with the PSU. Watch the episode where I compare batteries and psu with it. Here’s the link th-cam.com/video/i_TFScigHok/w-d-xo.html
@@BuddaGuedes of course it doesn't sound good. Im not sure i need to see the film - I've tooured and recorded with vintage fuzz units for too long to even mention... HEY THOUGH! A good idea for a video for you to make - "Can you hear the Different Batteries?" I bet you, and almost the whole audience will hear the differences - especially between Zinc Chloride and the others - li or Alkaline. Try it with vintage fuzze4s and Wah Wah pedals...
@@BuddaGuedes A fuzz face takes the output off the middle of the bias circuit, so if the series resistance of the battery decreases the output will increase, and if there's any capacitance in the battery that will change the tone too
For a reason Hendrix not really used Tone benders, so you can´t play Hendrix with this pedals. Tone Benders are for Stooges or 60s Garage or also Yardbirds /Early Zeppelin sounds. Never Hendrix. Tone benders sound amazing but perhaps in other not influenced hendrix hands.

Thanks a lot!!
@@BuddaGuedes hi, is the tc electronics rusty fuzz sound more like a tone bender or a fuzz face th-cam.com/video/ZSXfijVN44Q/w-d-xo.html
Im sorry but I don’t know that pedal !!!
@@BuddaGuedes hi here is what it sounds like th-cam.com/video/ZSXfijVN44Q/w-d-xo.html
I’ll try to check that and figure it out
Purple faze for me. It has that stand back because my amp is about to explode sound.
That’s right. I think they all have that. But the fuzz faze is louder so it pushes the amp into the abyss
Pauses video to get the headphones on. It's going to be one of those episodes. ;)
I did the same 😅
Thanks a lot!!!
Eh eh!! Thanks
Lmao same
Fuzz is life my brother! 🤘🏻😁🤘🏻
Yes it is
what a fantastic episode, love all of them, them's some sweet fuzz notes
Reuss makes incredible pedals
Thanks
The Purple Haze for sure
I also love it! The tone bender is a more 70’s rock sound.
Thanks for your comment

It’s just cleaner. That’s what in love about fuzz
Germanium fuzzes in general need isolated power supply because of the PNP transistors (positive to ground)
Depends on how many transistors.
Great show, man. Not big on fuzz, but this was pretty informative... I'd say the purple faze sounded best.
Cheers

Bender MK 1 for me (not 1.5). I have 4 of them
I love the mk1.5
What is the difference between?

The Compenhagen cuts a little better through the mix the purple face is a little less midrangy and way more bassy
@@BuddaGuedes thank you, now I know, what to do.. ;-)
What have you decided?
@@BuddaGuedes Copenhagen. Thanks again, your channel and advise made a tough choice easier. I have a bit complicated history with fuzzes. 😅

Wow the 1.5 tonebender and fuzz face really a close call, which one do you prefer?
I love them both. If I’m playing rock I would go for the tonebender if it’s Hendrix I’d go for the fuzz face
killer pedals! thx!
Thanks
A mkii bender should be brighter than a face.
Ok
I actually like the copenhagen a lot, I wonder if it'd sound better with humbuckers
Try a boss pedal (off) in front of the bender. Makes it clean up nice clear similar to a fuzz face :)
thanks for the tip

I actually don’t agree with that. I think the difference is in the midrange, but you can definitely play Hendrix stuff with the Tone Bender.
Although I would use it more for a rock situation. Definitely Cream and zeppelin
