      Melanie, Joni & Joan. Three extraordinary female performers who could mesmerize and captivate an audience with nothing but a guitar, vocals and pure talent.
      How does Swift, Beyonce etc look up against those three legends?

    What an unexpected treat to open TH-cam and find this gem. Two great and very different talents from vastly different cultures, but both socially aware and both finding classic folk music in common. Melanie effortlessly steers her brand new pair of roller skates through Johnny's ring of fire. Well done!

      Melanie really stepped up her game to sing and play with Johnny Cash. The microphone was obviously set up to highlight Cash's voice, but Melanie came through with pure power. In this mode she sounds a lot like Dolly Parton and shows what a great talent she is.

    I'm always impressed with what a complete gentleman Johnny Cash is in these old clips. Melanie, Joni Mitchell, any of his guests. A completely kind and generous man. He clearly admired a very young and very nervous Melanie here. And everything he does seems geared to put her at ease. Why do we have to put one artist down in order to admire another?

      @davejohnson-yi2rk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No one's putting him down, they're stating their opinions the same way you're allowed to state yours. Cash associated with a TON of extreme conservatives back in his day, I'm not going through the LONG list but his main concern was ratings, however he could get them, and when he wielded considerable power and influence, he never once raised his voice, to say something was wrong. Cash also wasn't above embellishing his bio to make it seem like he'd done "hard time" in prison (more BS on his part).
      He and his wife June for example, were strongly connected to the Old Oprey, which had a clearly anti-Minority policy (and yeah, I know about the token Charlie Pride), and it wasn't as if Cash was apolitical, he was a solid Republican and Vietnam War supporter, unlike his more talented, more honest and courageous counterpart Kris Kristofferson.

Seeing her this way is a whole new experience for me. I did not have a clue. This Melanie, I would want to make her mine, if that's still correctly said., as my middle finger twitches at the mention of correct. I'm sitting here bewildered, where was I when she played like this? I was out country in 73/74 Duh, Cassettes! I never saw her live. You're ones live with instant feedback.
