You can play the scariest horror games out there, but you will always shit your pants when you hear the mummies growling in the room next yours. It gave me chills when I was a kid and it still gives me the chills now. Even if the polygon count is so low and there's no logical reason to be scared, you indeed are.
resiistxd for those who want a second life to old Tomb Raider Classic! a multiplayer exist!! to play with friends her for more info: on STEAM steamcommunity.com/groups/TombRaiderClassicMP , on DISCORD discord.gg/V3Qz9D i was playing Tomb Raider 1 on PlayStation 1 when its released on 1996 best adventure franchise ever :)
Controls are simple and natural. You press forward to go forward and left-right to turn left or right. In the newer games like legend i press to turn around and lara is running instead. Depending on the camera angle, when I press to run left she runs straight. WTF?
you sir, are gifted. I played this game when it 1st came out on Pc(with an expensive Voodoo 1 card), the Glidos & VDM sound does it even better. What a treat to relive this classic game thru your video-it never occurred to me to "speedrun"..but it's amusing as all hell to see how you did ~shortcuts~ & easily beat the timed runs in the game. You really love this old game & it shows, thanks!
8 minutes in and my jaw literally drops hard to believe a person did this, you must of beat this game loads of times. i was young when this game came out like 9years old wasnt smart enough to beat it and incredible how i can sit here and relive my childhood then some😊
No Videogame ever flashed me more than Tomb Raider did it in 1996 until today! I still love this game and how you play it is awesome, I remember I played it for weeks to get through it for the first time. Thanx a lot for this upload and sorry for my bad english but I'm from the "Ruhrarea" in western Germany. Can't wait to watch your glitchless Speedrun of Tomb Raider 2 tomorrow! Best regards and greetings from Germany!
I saw your Tomb Raider 2 speedrun video (commentary version) and loved it!!! Now I am watching this speedrun and I am really enjoying it too (I just wish it was also commented), I would like to see future speedrun videos from other Tomb Raider's (TR III, TR: The Last Revelation, etc.) since I really like your speedrun, it also reminds me of my childhood battles completing games xD
Controls are simple and natural. You press forward to go forward and left-right to turn left or right. In the newer games like legend i press to turn around and lara is running instead. Depending on the camera angle, when I press to run left she runs straight WTF??
i think of how i agonized and struggled when i first played.......i did get more proficient and smoother the more i played ............but mr. jared....your play makes my head spin...... very well done...bravo
I remember having nightmares about the trex scene in the beginning...and would stop playing... now it know it was RIGHT AT THE START!! Whoa! Thank you so much for this!!!
Wow this is amazing! Big props man. I have just started speedrunning Caves, and let me tell you, it's very, very hard to get a fast time. This game is unforgiving
This game was so hard and the controls are so awkward. Must have taken some true dedication to get this good at the game! Very enjoyable to watch, brought back so many memories of when I was a kid watching my step dad play this game.
Awesome run! I think Glitchless runs are much more rewarding to play/watch than others, but that's IMO. Question: Why do you pull your guns out so often? I've seen other runners do this too. Does it straighten you up for a jump or something?
Thanks tori. there are 2 reasons. the main one is that lara turns faster with her guns out. her turning speed is automatically set to full whereas without her guns she has to accelerate to this turning speed. The second reason is that it resets any camera changes that happen in the game sometimes. you can also do this with the "Look" button, but doing it with the guns lets you keep control of lara whereas if you are looking, lara won't be able to turn. And a third reason you might see me do it is because i simply have to do it so often I do it by accident when its not needed haha.
Amazing dude, I've beaten this game so many damn times i cant count, but never attempted a speedrun though. I did beat it without using health packs before though.
I did a no health pack run on iPhone version of the game on my old iPhone 5S in 2015. By far the hardest run I did on this game. Took months on and off to complete and think i picked up every med pack in game too. Was something like 100 medi packs if i recall, around 60 small and 40 large ones. Or maybe around 60 in total both small and large (can't remember too well).
Very impressive :O Your end time on each level is about twice as fast as mine, and i save game alot so i can go back and fix my mistakes that wastes time haha xD I do however collect secrets but still you're insanely good at this :D
You have gorila phobia, dont you? Haha well played, I enjoyed so much, I remember when I was a little child and my old cousin was playing to this game. Pure and fierce nostalgia. Thanks
oh thanks! I actually have a lot of plans for my TH-cam channel so stay tuned. The majority of my gaming time is spent on twitch at the moment but I have some cool ideas coming up for TH-cam too.
I played this game on the Play Station demo disc... loved it. Never was able to buy it though... but I remember getting chased by the tiger... the environment in this game was absolutely peaceful.
***** Yea I agree, this game (and the other TR games) had the perfect balance of action, peacefulness and puzzle. Pretty awesome. Abe's Oddysee and Soul Reaver were the other two games that I thought did a similar thing. Probably my three favourite games for PS1.
Is it wrong to miss the old Lara scream? now she just goes "Opps, oof" when she falls off a cliff to her doom. in fact, its not even that dramatic.. more of a "Ooo, ah" .
When i first played this at the age of 6 i always thought her scream was cheesy because it's like she knows what she's getting herself into why is she screaming? She should be screaming when she saw the lions
Great run, very impressive! Is the TombRunner definition of glitchless just no clipping, corner/ledge bugs, etc? Does it also include trigger skips? Curious because I'd like to do a glitchless run of a TR classic myself one of these days and I noticed on some areas you skipped triggers with jumps/timing and was not sure if there are some exceptions or what (not just you, but other glitchless runs on TombRunner as well). Regardless, awesome job!
Thanks droogie! It would be awesome to see someone else run this category. Basically trigger skips are aloud, as long as they don't involve clipping to pull them of obviously like in my Qualopec glitched run. And yes glitchless basically means no clipping/corner bugs, however there are some acceptions, for instance the dive bug (like in the 40 Fathoms glitched run in TR2) is considered a glitch. Unintentional glitches that don't save time are also aloud.
Interesting to note during your run of St. Francis' Folly that Pierre never spawns in at the bottom of the tall room... presumably because you never shot at him for long enough to make him disappear in the first room? Unless you just missed whatever spot/action triggers him the second time.
Bonjour Magnifique vidéo. Une simple question, quel est l'intérêt de dégainer et rengainer touts les 10 secondes ?? Merci pour vos réponses. Cordialement .... Eric
I have a question and a suggestion - Question - Do you think that jumping is any faster than running? I don't think so personally and it opens you up to the occaisional time sapping face plant into a low beam. Suggestion - back on the Playstation1 I played this game through in a mirriad of different ways, one of the most difficult ways was the "No Kill" run. This is getting through the game without killing anything that isn't essential in order to progress - ie. 'Bosses' - no killing rats, bats, lions, gorillas, dinos, wolves or anything else. This of course means you need to collect health at every oportunity, but it is possible. I'd be interested to see your attempt :)
steven Claessen Not really any plans specifically. But when I get some extra time I will be either doing this or TR2 Secrets. If you want to see a more optimized run look for Super Gamer's run.
PG1337ify TR4 would be an awesome run. Only problem is I don't really know as much about that game as the 1st three so I would have to do a ton of research. Plus TR4 Single Segment would be really hard haha. You would probably see me do TR3 before TR4. But who knows, it seems a lot of people are interested ito see it.
You can play the scariest horror games out there, but you will always shit your pants when you hear the mummies growling in the room next yours. Thankyou!
I've been waiting so long for a speedrun like this: no cutscenes, no glitches, and all one segment. Well done :)
thankyou! I also recently completed one of Tomb Raider 2 as well if you want to check that out.
old tomb raiders are the best tomb raiders :3
resiistxd totaly wrong
resiistxd totally an opinion that I agree with.
Yes, I’m gonna be honest that Tomb Raider l/ll/lll/4/5 Are Probably one of the best Tomb Raider games you could get in 1998
Agreed they are the best for me too :-)

This is art man, I remember those controls are rigid af
Fakoleon Ha I couldn't get into the game due to the controls.

wow, this takes me back! thanks for the memories, all neatly tied into a 2 hour session!

24:29 that music made me scared when i was a kid ...
thanks for the run through man! the nostalgia is FIERCE!

You mastered this games awkward controls. Perfect playthrough.

Nothing is simple and natural about tank controls. they're awful. only good for putting in the cheats@@milannesic5718
Awesome job. I watched it just to remember the game. So well made for its time, and kinda scary too
1:46:00 Why does Lara go 'Mhmmm' like she does in TR2? And the secret jingle...
So much skill! This is very impressive! Well done!
i think of how i agonized and struggled when i first played.......i did get more proficient and smoother the more i played ............but mr. jared....your play makes my head spin...... very well done...bravo

i remember in 90s i use to run 1st world just like this)) great Run men! and the Trex with guys left alive! thanx)))
you give me anxiety by not killing everything xD
Sameeee Omgosh 😩😵
Wow this is amazing! Big props man. I have just started speedrunning Caves, and let me tell you, it's very, very hard to get a fast time. This game is unforgiving
Amazing game, amazing run, best thanks!!
Thank you for the video! It brings me up some old memories when I was playing it.
Daaaayum!!!! What a speedrun!!!
I really enjoyed that! Very well played!! Long ass game! And not for claustrophobics!!
This game was so hard and the controls are so awkward. Must have taken some true dedication to get this good at the game! Very enjoyable to watch, brought back so many memories of when I was a kid watching my step dad play this game.
1:18:48 Glitch :P
32:49 nice head shot :D
真好看,一塲非常精彩的快速過關歷險過程,希望快點有其他人打破.
Wow, awesome run man !!
A great speedrun! Very few mistakes and, most importantly, no glitches. Keep it up!
Also.... BTW.... We are in Greece.... and we have Damocles, Neptune, Atlas and.... Thor's room? Am I missing something?
Im from greece :D

3:39 Nice dive roll.
Such nice remembrances having played this game for hours and hours! I wish I would have kept a DOS machine and the CDs, of course..
Very nicely done!
Amazing dude, I've beaten this game so many damn times i cant count, but never attempted a speedrun though. I did beat it without using health packs before though.
Cool how long did that take you?
I did a no health pack run on iPhone version of the game on my old iPhone 5S in 2015. By far the hardest run I did on this game. Love this speed run!
You are very fast. Good job, Jared
When them songs came on you know some next shit was about to happen world class game 👍

Dang bruh you good. These games were challenging. Really good for a game back in 1996
1:39:07 glitched the door so the shotgun guy never triggers.
1:20:00 epic gun shooting view
You have gorila phobia, dont you? Haha well played, I enjoyed so much, I remember when I was a little child and my old cousin was playing to this game. Pure and fierce nostalgia. Thanks
damn your a pro, no glitches too, huge respect
Thank you so much for making this video I in joyed a lot thanks
33:50 - The first ever time in the whole Tomb Raider series where a player encounters fire 🥲
Wow that's really impressive! I wish you would expand your channel more. I like your gaming style.
oh thanks! I actually have a lot of plans for my TH-cam channel so stay tuned. The majority of my gaming time is spent on twitch at the moment but I have some cool ideas coming up for TH-cam too.
Jared Stevenson
That's great! I'm subscribing you now so I'll stay tuned.
Isn't the jump in 15:28 the walk-run-jump glitch?? I guess it's unintentional since a normal running jump would accomplish exactly the same.
amazing, good job =D
so awesome dude! nice work! greetz from germany :)
I played this game on the Play Station demo disc... loved it. Never was able to buy it though... but I remember getting chased by the tiger... the environment in this game was absolutely peaceful.

Watching this made me happy:) best game ever!
The Legend
Is this the playstation version ? I didn't hear all these songs in pc version.
Glitchless? - 52:45 Animal walking into the movable block
Kudos dude
U play so good man and ur moves very good
I love how you totally ignored 4 raptors and 1 T-Rex
This is fantastic. I'm happy to be thumbs up 677 and subscriber 639.
Pheww... that part on lost valley! lol! nice job!!
Uma das menores trilhas sonoras de um game!
Incredible
I am glad that the T-Rex survived : )
Not sure if you can call this a truly glitchless speedrun o.O But I get what you mean
And this is really good
The Raptors sound like they have wellies on when they run.
Props to spending more hours than the video to test the speedrun
Why does he keep pulling out the guns and not using them?
Why do i have one red ball stuck in start position on 1:36?
+Вадим Ждан Because you apparently jumped over "trigger square" for that particular ball.
I'm curious: how many levers does Lara pull throughout the game? 100?
Is it wrong to miss the old Lara scream? now she just goes "Opps, oof" when she falls off a cliff to her doom. in fact, its not even that dramatic.. more of a "Ooo, ah" .

damn, you are so much faster than me in every level
Min. 1:18:57 ??
200 attempts? man u have patience!
how did u get music in 4.20? I'm my version of tr1 there's no music
I used a program called glidos to run the game which has an option to patch the game with the music from the ps1 version of the game.
oh shit......the dinosaur valley.....i had a shit of a time getting through that....memories
walking on, walking on the moooonnn
I used to play the first two levels the same way just to see how fast I could get through them lol.
看了就停不住。真精彩。
Interesting to note during your run of St. Francis' Folly that Pierre never spawns in at the bottom of the tall room... presumably because you never shot at him for long enough to make him disappear in the first room? Unless you just missed whatever spot/action triggers him the second time.
That's good spot and think you're right
how the hell did you get the ps1 music on the dos box version with out glidos ect
+nicholas pootlass I used Glidos ;)
Bonjour

Ca permet une vitesse de rotation de Lara sur elle même plus eleve et ca remet l'angle de la camera a 0

Oh my gosh... i somehow remember being terrified by that thing on 15:59
Oh my gosh and I remember that guy from 17:25

Isn't 01:39:00 a glitch? The guy with the shotgun not triggering
steven Claessen It's just a trigger skip. Skipping event triggers aren't considered glitches unless you have to perform a glitch to do so.
Jared Stevenson Ah i see. Do you have plans for an optimized run of TR1 by any chance?
steven Claessen Not really any plans specifically. But when I get some extra time I will be either doing this or TR2 Secrets. If you want to see a more optimized run look for Super Gamer's run.
