I did not hate the butler; I even loved him. He had never hurt me. I did not want his money. I think it was his tray. When he would walk in the distance, I could hear his tray shake and the dishes on it would rattle. And so, I finally decided I had to lock him in the freezer and close that door forever!

Just make enough money to buy a walk in freezer in your home, that way when people randomly pop into your house, you can show them your new freezer. Lock the door, problem solved.

You can still hear the tray and dish sounds held by the butler after locking him in the freezer almost in everypart of the house near or above the fridge.
My dad would hook this up on the box TV on the foot of my bed and would play this as I fell asleep. The damn dinosaurs in level one gave me so much anxiety as a kid. Love these memories.
I find it fantastic how years and years ago, without the internet most of us already locked the butler in the freezer and did the roof bug thing. I don't even remember how did I discover it. In Tomb Raider III, there's a cart circuit as well and the bug trick is taking the cart out of that "training area" lol

@@lex3658 yep, in the days before glitches could be fixed so they became commonly talked about. They were also urban legends which was just passed through word of mouth. This was in a time before the internet and more than 4 channels on TV so a group of mates would happily get together to play single player games. It also gave way to some false urban legends like the famous Aerith one in FF7 which I won't say in case you haven't played it. By the way, your English is superb.

I can remember after hours of trying to get that secret room before the door closed taking turns with my best friend. Finally getting down there and being like, this is it? Seriously??? For as long as it took which I think was possibly days because we'd play it for the allotted time we had after school. So actually just hours, but still to get there and it's just a dark room with trunks and views to areas you can't access. Somehow it still was entertainingly awesome for the time. Especially when compared to GTA 3 when it came out years later. The vast difference in what you can do free roaming.
I never knew you could do this...! I spent countless hours playing this as a kid and looking for a way onto the roof, but never discovered it. Now I need to go back and play it again!
I remember being too young to understand how to play this game properly so I spent hours in the manor and on the first level where you fight those wild cats. I was too scared to go into the attic cause it was so dark I didn't know what was in there all these years until now.

this actually inspired me for an idea: imagine if certain artifacts you steal can give you super powers: 1 artifact gives you super strength & speed; another allows you to control fire/water/air; another allows you to control people's minds; and another lets you manipulate forcefields (gravity, electricity, etc). Now THAT would be a collection worth hunting the world for!
What a great intro house to play in. Reminds me of one of the old ps1 batman games that allowed a similar thing, just lookin for secrets and such inside your base. Did not know about the warp glitch tho, thats a neat quirk.

It's interesting that they chose to make the roof solid. Normally by a studio's second game they would have cut corners / made optimisations to make inaccessible parts of the game have no textures or collision.
If this was built in Minecraft it would look identical. Lol. Nice glitch i never knew that was possible. Nice they let you explore the roof unlike the highway ruins in New Vegas i'm replaying atm. Odd though they textured the whole roof but neglected to texture part of the surround I found on the first level. After leaving the first tower on the great wall, its possible to jump on the level boundary wall, from the water pool the boundary opposite the great wall or its the top right corner of the area from entering. Work your way back along it to the first tower, jump to the other boundary wall & run towards the 2nd tower. In the top left corner of the area from entering is the missing texture. Found it on the PSM demo disc & it remained in the full game.
What if the butler is still trapped in the freezer on the memory cards of all our games. I haven't played this game for years now, and my memory cards are lost. The butler is still in the freezer, alone with slabs of meat. Suffering great loneliness with no one to release him...
No Z buffering on the PS1 so the texture maps get glitched on the walls and get all pixelated when you get closer. Think they fixed this on the PS2 but it was funny how the textures slid and jumped all over the polygons in ps1 games. It would have been funny if Lara could have jumped to her death by falling off the wall at 12:55 funny how later on she teleported to the roof just by jumping then you finally could kill her by jumping off. I too locked the butler in the freezer as it was so bloody annoying to have him following me around with his stupid tray!
Thanks for this video, it brought back memories. I also locked the butler in the fridge and I know about the secret room from the labyrinth, but i did not know about the roof glitch. I remember as a kid i always wondered what was outside that house ahah I think these games made my early teenager years, together with Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, FF8, Pokemon red. Maybe graphics were not the best, but i feel i have so many memories connected to these games and musics, more than modern ones ❤
I never knew about the corner glitch to get up high (other than accidentally doing it once in TR3), but I could get onto the garden wall from the zip line platform with a precision jump and grab.
No trip to Lara’s mansion wouldn’t be complete without locking the butler in the freezer...

I knew the rooftop thing was in part 3, but never knew it works in part 2.
And I still play this game to this day.

No Z buffering on the PS1 so the texture maps get glitched on the walls and get all pixelated when you get closer. Think they fixed this on the PS2 but it was funny how the textures slid and jumped all over the polygons in ps1 games. It would have been funny if Lara could have jumped to her death by falling off the wall at 12:55 funny how later on she teleported to the roof just by jumping then you finally could kill her by jumping off. I too locked the butler in the freezer as it was so bloody annoying to have him following me around with his stupid tray!

Thanks for this video, it brought back memories. I also locked the butler in the fridge and I know about the secret room from the labyrinth, but i did not know about the roof glitch. I remember as a kid i always wondered what was outside that house ahah
I think these games made my early teenager years, together with Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, FF8, Pokemon red. Maybe graphics were not the best, but i feel i have so many memories connected to these games and musics, more than modern ones ❤

I never knew about the corner glitch to get up high (other than accidentally doing it once in TR3), but I could get onto the garden wall from the zip line platform with a precision jump and grab.

It was nice of the developers to actually do something with the roof, just on the off-chance this glitch was exploited.
