I own a C3 Corvette myself and Marky Mark is right, you can't drive around with it looking like that, its disgraceful and your fellow Vette owners will certainly look down upon you. I'm glad he has enough sense to know this.
MAKES SENSE NOW! In a later scene from the final cut Dirk talks about fixing up the vette with the 5 grand they make from the fake coke sale. Always wondered why. Seriously, this film should soon be getting the masterpiece status it deserves, it can't be ignored forever.
its the beginning of Tusk by Fleetwood Mac. On the DVD deleted scene Tusk is on the whole time, which makes sense since Tusk came out in 1979 and Danger Zone by Loggins came out in 1986
At this point of his downward spiral i assume he has stopped paying his bills... The insurance and registration are probably past due... Remember the next scene when they go to Rayhads house the gas light is on... For someone who cared so much about the car you can see how bad the stuff had him when hes not even putting gas in the car.....
It is a great scene and would have further shown the downward spiral of Dirk. Vital to the movie? Guess not, but would have not hurt. I wish this was a 12 hour movie, because I love it so much.
@pointman913 Actually, on the DVD deleted scene, it starts with Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk" with the Becky and Jerome scene and then as Dirk is driving in the Vette, Devo's "Jerkin' Back and Forth" is playing and then abruptly stops once Dirk crashes into the phone pole.
Kinda glad they left this scene out, seeing that happen to a fine-ass Corvette is just wrong. Dunno what the hell's going on with 'Danger Zone' playing.
I understand why the majority of these scenes were cut, but it still would have been nice to have them incorporated into the film. Especially since Todd's role was bigger with most of these scenes put in and he was my favourite character.
this scene wouldn't change the story or something like that, but then again, very few scenes in this movie change the story, Boogie Nights is an electric movie about random scenes, that's why I love it so much, because this way of storytelling fits perfectly in the movie!!
Although the deleted scenes are very funny when viewed separately from the film, the joke regarding the tapes for the record deal would have been overplayed and would have become stale had the deleted scenes been included. The final editing was well executed.
Why did you cut out Becky's end of the phone conversation and the scene where her husband beats her up? Why did you replace Devo's "Jerkin Back and Forth" with "Danger Zone"? It's a shame Becky got cut down from being a major character to a background one (the main reason this scene existed was to further HER storyline), but sometimes its necessary to keep the run-time down. In the original screenplay, she flees her murderous husband, waiting for Diggler in a coffee shop. He never shows up because of the wreck, but she meets a man who gives her a job at a nursing home. Her final shot in the film (during the "God Only Knows" montage) would have showed her wiping an old man's ass with a look of supreme boredom and mild disgust at the nursing home.
ok but how do you know this? We know that the scene at Rahad's is from 1984 based on the fact that it starts out with "Sister Christian" playing which came out in the spring of '84 so who's to say that Dirk's accident wasnt in '84...of course its all speculation I guess, but fun to speculate about it though!
Weird. Did you put the Kenny Loggins song in yourself. Because I have this on the outtakes too and the first song "Tusk" I swore it plays the entire length of the scene. does it not? I have to go check that out.
The Car is Dirk Diggler. When we first see it, it shines like a star. It is full of rigor and zest. its very sexy and only fit for a superstar like him. It is his trophy. But as time passes, the car gets worn out, and smashed. From being a trophy it becomes something Dirk embarrassed to be in. Like how he turned out to be
i can see why it got cut and he did the right thing. one, the kenny loggins song comes out in 1986 as the scene is set in the early 80s. it's an anachronism that will confuse people. two, it feels unnecessary as it would've dragged the film longer than it already is although it does explain about what happened to the car. fuck...
If you look closely at the hood of the corvette when the three of them get to the guys house to sell the coke (Baking soda) it's opened like the cars been wrecked or something?
This sequence is perfect too. Some of the highest cinema shot for the film. PTA said he cut it because he felt it was jarring and took the viewer too far away from the heart of the story, which was Dirk, not the relatively undeveloped character of Becky.
I think Anderson said in the commentary that Wahlberg actually crashed the car himself. Anyone else know if that's true? I'm too lazy to dig up my own DVD.
Yeah! In the commentary Anderson acts REALLY hesitant to even admit the fact, he makes a seriously big deal about how stupid he thinks he was to of done it. To his credit though, it wasn't solely his idea, Wahlberg was just as eager to do it.
1:31 If Dirk was driving 90 mph that car would be a LOT more wrecked, he wouldn't be able to drive it afterwards and he wouldn't be walking and talking. lol
In reality, I'm sure they didn't even hit a pole, they had the Prop guys install a totalled '77 Vette nose from a junkyard, and paint it up to match the rest of the car. Then, when the movie was done, they re-installed the good nose, and that was that.
I own a C3 Corvette myself and Marky Mark is right, you can't drive around with it looking like that, its disgraceful and your fellow Vette owners will certainly look down upon you. I'm glad he has enough sense to know this.
Agreed, 💯 He's just grasping of the tiny bit of self control he has left, as the downward spiral of Coke,
Takes a Very firm grip on him.
i just bought a 78 C3!
"Every time you kick it, it cost more money." I'm dying from laughter over this line.
IMHO, Its already FUBAR, what are a few more 'kicks' going to do to it :P
MAKES SENSE NOW! In a later scene from the final cut Dirk talks about fixing up the vette with the 5 grand they make from the fake coke sale. Always wondered why. Seriously, this film should soon be getting the masterpiece status it deserves, it can't be ignored forever.
try to help a female will get you in hot trouble
You got the touch! You got the power!
Boom!
They just need the tapes and all problems would be fixed
that's a YP, not a MP
"Danger Zone" was a mid to late 80's tune, and this scene is supposed to be early 80's
Not the original music to this...song originally from what I remember was a DEVO tune on the special edition DVD some years back.
I was wondering why his car was wrecked when they got to that one guys house.
Yeah i remember that, I was like, the front end of the car is smashed up, have i missed something lol
"i'm gonna go kick some ass " ... "looks for proper clothing attire" lmao
He was looking for his coke
its the beginning of Tusk by Fleetwood Mac. On the DVD deleted scene Tusk is on the whole time, which makes sense since Tusk came out in 1979 and Danger Zone by Loggins came out in 1986
Exactly. Always thought, even though I love the song, it was way too new for the scene, doesn't fit with the timeline.
"You cannot drive a fuckin' Corvette down the street lookin' like that--its a fuckin' Vette, man!!"
"Cocaine is a hell of a drug" *RICK JAMES*
The Fleetwood Mac song Tusk goes so well with this scene
Well that explains the damage on the car when they pulled up to Rahad Jackson’s house
"At least it's still driveable."
I love this movie. Deleted scenes and all. It’s just a masterpiece
Let's mastermind here. 1:41 Dirk's phone rang. Who do we think called him and why??
whoever posted this this scene edited it... its legit unedited with the fleetwood track
the song; danger zone by Kenny Logan was released in 1986. i think this scene was supposedly depicting 1983. if that is correct it js out of sync
This is a setup, the real song that this deleted scene has, it's "Jerkin Back in Forth" by DEVO.
That explain why they did not use a clip
Always thought that the Car was a metaphor of Dirk
Can we safely assume Monsieur Diggler didn't have insurance?
Who's he going to sue the light pole
At this point of his downward spiral i assume he has stopped paying his bills... The insurance and registration are probably past due... Remember the next scene when they go to Rayhads house the gas light is on... For someone who cared so much about the car you can see how bad the stuff had him when hes not even putting gas in the car.....
@@sitdowndogbreath Who said anything about suing? Do you know how insurance works?
@@daveygivens735 fuk insurance!
@Lady T this is California it's always been mandatory what's wrong with you
It actually switches from "Tusk" to Devo's "Jerkin' Back and Forth" on the actual deleted scene.
Should have been in, great scene, explains the car, also shows "leaving" the industry usually wasn't that simple
This is how I feel about my 1994 Honda Prelude lol
MY PRELUDE IS TOP PRIORITY!!! IMMA KICK SOME ASS
"you can sell my car"
"you know what we can do!" completely ignoring P.S.H.'s idea.
I was laughing so hard at that line. I honestly don't think there was a single salvageable piece on the front of that car! Hahaha!!
Ohhh, That explains the damage.
He should have used his ka-ra-tay to fix the car.
Damn right
This shoulda been in the movie, cocaine is a hell of a drug, and this scene portrays that perfectly....
Agreed there 💯
You're literally it's bitch ....
It owns & control's you,
One hell of a Substance.
Agreed there 💯
You're literally it's bitch!
It owns & control's you in way unimaginable....
One hell of a Substance...
This clip is a fake. The song Dirk plays in his car is "Jerkin' Back 'n' Forth" by Devo, not this cheesy Loggins song.
lmao Wahlberg is so great in this movie
I'm gonna leave every situation by saying "I got to go kick some ass".
"You can sell my car, "

I know, love him!! 😂🤣

The love he has for him ,was so unique!! 🤩

Scotty stay right here!, don't answer that fucking phone, we're going to deal with this NOW!.
I love all the acting and dialogue in this movie, it’s over the top at times but also so fucking realistic 🤣
well when have to kill 12 hours at a clip at work the mind tends to wander! LOL
that movie and soundtrack were so good
Since when did the movie "Top Gun" come out in the early 1980s?
this scene takes place in 1983. danger zone was added..which came out in may of 86
Scotty stay right here!! LMFAO XD

The Clarences love & support "Boogie Nights"!
I hate it when people have to fuck with clips, like they can make it better.
"Tusk" was playing the whole time, NOT "Danger Zone."
Ricky Springfield.......HE'S A BUDDY OF MINE!,!

I dont know about 90!!
ALL DELETED SCENES NEED TO BE PUT BACK IN AND RE-RELEASED...I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WERE TAKEN OUT!! SOMEBODY DO SOMETHING!!!
But do it so 'Danger Zone' is not in it. Great song, but too new for the storyline!

LMFAO i love how he puts on the song from Top Gun. I mean, who HASN'T had a moment where they put a sweet ass song on while driving to look cool?
Great he deleted this scene too Scoresse/Goodfellas, all that's missing is the heleocopter
That looks like a YP not an MP.
00:55-- ...so much for that Top Gun "Danger Zone" feeling he was having barreling down those twisting roads in the Hollywood Hills.
top gun cam eout in 86 long after this scene takes place. the real song that was played was devos jerkin back and forth. from 1981

Uh, you cut out the best part where he talks to himself in the mirror., “You ready to kick some ass?”
In what part of LA is that house
The Ritz part apparently
No, it's actually "Jerkin' Back 'n' Forth" by Devo.
He's right. You can't drive a Vette like that.
I always wondered why the vette was busted up when they go to rob the guy at his house....
Why did you add Kenny Loggins to the scene?
Did the person who did this video add it or was it in the scene?
@@relicman yeah there’s another video about this scene and a totally different song plays
Danger Zone came out in 1987 no wonder they deleted it.
