    We used to have these in the 80s in Zimbabwe. I don't see them anymore so I decided to search on TH-cam and I finally found it.
    I am going to get one for when I am out in the bundu. Thanks

    The only reason I drink Kimberley cold beers is to maintain a 38*C body temp 😂

    In my younger days, water bags on cars were a very common item. Back then the 'spout' of the bag was of porcelain construction as I recall, and everyone drank from the same bag !!, . . . how did we get this far ??!! :-)). I suspect that the primary reason they were used back then was for topping up errant radiators, and drinking from them was secondary, although, depending on your location, and season, the roles would be reversed. The fascination for hydration hadn't been invented then !!. They were fitted with leather straps for hanging on the chrome plated mounts available specifically for that purpose, and were generally bolted to the front 'Bumper Bar', and to see them on vehicles wasn't considered out of the ordinary by any means. Thanks for the memory refresher. Take care and stay safe, Cheers.

    I hung one on the front of my Landrover going up the Stuart Hwy back in December 1971. I thought that someone must have stolen it when I got to Coober Pedy. But then I noticed a few shreds of canvas still hanging on the bullbar. Lesson learned, next tim hang it a little higher. It gave me a real appreciation of how much gravel is thrown forwards off the wheels.

    Your channel helps me evolve from using technology that forces a state (compressor fridge, air conditioner, lighting, winching even, etc) and instead better understand physics to do the same or close using with less tech.

    I’m no doc but if your temp is 38 than you have a fever. Normal temp is on average 36.6.

    Used them out in The Great Sandy as a young fella. Great idea but unfortunately the water never stops tasting like a water bag, even if boiled in a billy.

      Hi Ross. Very true, I fine the cotton bags much better to drink from. Though as you know there is some pretty average water out there to begin with haha. Kind regards Geoff

    Greetings Geoff. Beware those leather straps holding the bag to the bull bar. They don’t last long and you’ll lose your classy modification. Some dirty old rope adds a nice touch and far more reliable.

      I would recommend soaking it for a few days in fresh clean water to allow the canvas to expand, it may take one or two goes. Cheers Geoff

    G'Day Geoff - I Know This Is An Old Video For You, But Would Bee's Wax Seal These Things Up When They Won't Stop Leaking ?

    • @seriouslyseriesaustralia
      @seriouslyseriesaustralia  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Michael
      The best thing is to soak them and let them dry out several times. They can take up to a week to seal up properly. I wouldn’t use bee’s wax and it sadly won’t solve the issue long term. Cheers Geoff
