    You are so right that palm wax is very unforgiving! The one additional thing I do before pouring at 200F is to take my heat gun and heat the inside and outside of the container so that hot wax is going into a warm/hot container. I've found the starburst and feathering come out even more detailed.

    That insulation method is an amazing tip, beeswax benefits from being cooled slow too.

    What is that double heater you are using? My stovetop with the double boiler method struggles to get to 180 degrees so I'm interested in that double hot plate thing you've got... great video ...might try the palm wax, as I love the look!!!

      Any stove top burner will work great, I prefer the sealed burner rather than the coil burner because they are a lot easier to clean.

    What hot plate do you use? I am trying to decide. I see several chandlers using a hot plate without using double boiler. I use C-3 and feather palm. Any help will be appreciated.

    I have read about people needing to flip the candle after the top sets up, to cut down on air pockets. Have you had a problem like this working with palm containers wax? Thanks in advance, I just subscribed.

    Off topic...
    I was wondering if you could do a segment on candle tins. I saw on Candlescience web site that some of the reviews mention that certain fragrance has a chemical reaction with the tins making a rusty look to the wax.
    I did see that it only had an effect on certain fragrance and I didnt know if it was all tins or just the tins from Candle Science.
    I would rather use tins vs glass for obvious reasons plus Candle Science is relatively close to my and not a big deal to do a local pickup saving on shipping cost.
    Thanks you sir.

    Now I'm really confused. I've been playing around with palm wax for awhile trying to get it wick. I was always told you need to poke relief holes or do something to get the air pockets out, but you didnt do that. Why? I would love to see them lit

    • @khione8044
      @khione8044 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Vanessa
      I share your confusion! I've heard so many different mixed reviews on Palm Wax, it makes me nervous to try it. I have heard about the need to poke relief holes with it, while many Palm Wax Candle Makers don't show this. I spoke with 1 Candle Maker who uses Palm Wax, she says that she never gets any air pockets in her Palm Wax Candles. She said that the slower the Palm Wax cools, the less chance of an air pocket forming. But I haven't been able to find any information out there to verify this claim. It seems very risky going about doing it this way, unless I know for a fact that it's true.

    We stopped ordering Palm Wax due to the palm forest have been distroyed by the greed of people. Too bad too because palm wax was my favorite to work with and the finished product was safe and beautiful. Sigh

    Hi! just found you channel and it helps me a lot! I am starting with palm wax for candles. I have a question, though, what would be the reason that my candles crack every time I use it and put it out? I mean, when I pour the wax for the first time when dried there it's always a crack on the hard wax! I thought 'Ok, maybe I poured too fast or too hot', but then, if I light it up and hours later I put out the candle, when it dries there's the crack again! I thought it was just for the first pour, but now I think it might be the color? am I missing an additive? Thank you!

    Hi, I think this question is going to be a year late, but I'm still hoping you are gonna respond. So my question is, I noticed that you didn't use the double boiler method, and does just putting the pourer directly on the heat source work the same?

    How would you cover a batch of candles like 12?

    • @TimberRidgeGifts
      @TimberRidgeGifts  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same process, you would just need a bigger box or container. Actually the more candles you had in there, the more heat it would hold in and the longer it would take to cool, which would actually be better.

I've had this Palm wax for quite a while and I'm too scared to make candles but I'm so excited to do it. I may be bothering you with some questions. I hope you won't mind. Thank you so much for sharing 😀

    you can go very high with the fragrance load with palm wax..you can go up to 20% if you want too, but that's nuts.. I do feel it needs at least 12% to throw decent though

      Do you make palm wax candles?

  • @akmolds
    @akmolds 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello! I'm learning how to make palm wax candles. Maybe I can ask you for some advice? What flashing point would you recommend me to use fragrance oils for a good scent? Palm wax has a high melting point. What would you recommend to me? You may know some good online courses where you go about making scented candles. I would like to produce quality palm wax scented candles.

    • @khione8044
      @khione8044 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Rich Candle
      Flash Points don't have anything to do with making a Candle. You want to mix your Fragrance Oil at around 200*F when making Palm Wax Candles.

    • @arin3616
      @arin3616 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Khione as far as i know, flash point has something to do with making candles. If you pour the fragrance at 200F candle while the fragrance flash point lets say it's arounf 170F, then some of the fragrance will evaporate and the scent will be less strong

  • @luxnatsoap
