I’d do Granlund (or Zetterlund), Bordeleau (or Bystedt, or similar), and a 2026 2nd rd pick for Nemec. (Sharks currently have two 2nd rd picks in 2026) Throw Ferraro (26 yrs old) or Ceci (31) or hell even Walman (29) in there if you want to also. Zetterlund is 25 yrs old (could stay but wouldn’t be the end of the world to trade him), but I’d prefer to trade Granlund obviously instead.. I definitely wouldn’t trade Eklund as the main piece, that’s silly. Bordeleau is 23 yrs old now, and still not in the nhl. We have a number of other similar prospects close to his age also… it wouldn’t hurt to pick one of them to send with Granlund and a 2026 2nd rd pick (none of the 3 will likely be playing on the team any time in the future), for a potential 2-3-4 defenseman in Nemec (20 yrs old) who will certainly be playing on the team immediately and for a decade into the future.
Mine would be: 1. Schaefer 2. Misa 3. Hagens 4. Martone 5. McQueen With the top four quite a ways ahead of the pack, as Keegan said. --- The Sharks used the Pittsburgh first pick #14 overall (part of the Karlsson deal) and the New Jersey pick #42 overall (part of the Meier deal) to acquire Buffalo's #11 overall pick.
It's just one scout's opinion, but Corey Pronman from the Athletic just put out his list of top NHL players under 23 years old. He had Eklund at #30, Nemec at #81, and Bystedt at #90.
Pronman isn't a scout, but to his credit, I think he's the most connected writer that I know to NHL amateur scouts, besides Bob McKenzie. So you might be right. His opinion certainly has weight. But the sources I spoke to, NHL scouts who have seen a lot of Nemec, that's their opinion, that he's still highly esteemed. Certainly don't see, for example, a straight-up or similar swap of Nemec for Bystedt, despite their close Pronman rankings.
I agree with your discussion about Nemec. The Sharks don't appear to be the best trade partners, and the Devils could probably make a better win-now move with a package structured around him. Of course, there is the possibility Nemec stays, and the Devils move on from one of Hamilton, Kovacevic, or Pesce. Kovacevic is the only not signed to a long-term deal.
37:40 It was the pick for Leo Sahlin Wallenius. The pick to trade up for Dickinson was the one from the Devils acquired in the Timo Meier trade. Edit: And you corrected yourself and figured it out within the next couple of minutes. To expand though, the pick from the Walman trade was 53rd and the pick from Timo was the 42nd.
I think Zetterlund has more value than people think. Right now he'd be NJ's 5th top scorer, and it seems like they need more depth scoring with Zetterlund already being a known quantity for them. And in the offseason maybe you can do a sign and trade for Granlund while retaining a generous chunk since Burns is off the books by then. If what your scouts say is true about Nemec, then maybe that makes this trade closer to fair value. Might as well throw in Bordeleau too.
We might be underselling Zetterlund, fair. But he's also due for a decent contract, which could lower his value. I also find a lot of immaturities to his game, which I allude to; I don't see him as a winning player yet. There's a good chance that he will be, but a ton to iron out, which doesn't quite fit the Devils' timeline IMO.
I'd wish someone would've asked Warsofsky why the lethargic start! 3 Nashville Gials in 2:55, does he have any reason why this continues to happen? Another question is why when the opponent scores first, the Sharks have only won twice?
I'm hoping for Schaefer like everyone else but at what point is there too many on the left hand side? I'm a believer of BPA in the draft but do you just hope to move one LHD? If we were lucky enough to get Schaefer, we'd have him, Dickinson, Mukh, Cagnoni, and also Wallenius that can't be discounted. Feels like stacking that many would stunt one or more of their development. Idk just feels like the right side is pretty empty in our system and that probably won't get addressed for a while given where our picks stand and the FA market.
The thing is you pick bpa because not everyone is guaranteed to hit their ceiling. So stacking Ld might not be good but there's a good chance most don't work out.
not only are they not all guaranteed to develop, let alone hit projections, but if you have a chance at a guy like Schaefer, it doesn't matter how stacked you think you are. He's that much better than any other LD, or defenseman they have. You don't pass up guys of that talent because you have 'too many' prospects on one side. They're just prospects. There's no telling how they'll pan out. And as good as Cagnoni may be, he's tiny for a dman. If you have someone who can replace him who is bigger, you do it. You have more prospects to use as a trade chip to obtain something you need. Maybe they can put together a package for a realy good right handed defenseman or prospect RD.
Asked elsewhere, for this next free agency. If sharks trade a number of granlund, kunin, sterm, rutta, etc. are you for short term over paid contracts. Pinpoint a few players you want. Go short term, good chunk over paid. Harder to trade but safe term. Kinda like wennberg. Or do you leave extra room for trade. We need vets around the youth. And with more youth added. You need to hit on your vets. Over pay for short term guidance. Less chance of return in assets. If looking long term. Barring making 100% sense like Tyler. Look elsewhere or hold on move.
Schaefer is just about a full year younger than the other top prospects as well.
I’d do Granlund (or Zetterlund), Bordeleau (or Bystedt, or similar), and a 2026 2nd rd pick for Nemec. (Sharks currently have two 2nd rd picks in 2026)

The Sharks should certainly be in the conversation concerning Nemec considering the Devils will be looking to bolster their team for the playoffs
Mine would be:

5. McQueen

Sharks need to get best player available.

William "Swedish Brand Marchand" Eklund is definitely the most improved.
Nemec is pronounced "Nemetz"
Dellandrea may be my pick for disappointing player. He seems like a good locker room guy, though.
He is a good room guy, from what I've seen

What a shit show in Nashville eh
I'd send Mukhamadullin, Guschin/Bordeleau, and Granlund for Nemac.
Devils gave us muk, and I doubt they’d want another defensive prospect, especially one they already traded away
U already know they want one of our coveted 1sts in the package
